I know what a maelstrom is. It's just that normally, they are spelled "Zenmai-".

Seems balanced and would let you reuse their effects. Me gusta.

How would it go in one of the "good" Wind-Up decks that I've never actually played?

The "good" Wind-Up decks that are played are T1 hand rape, so...not too well I guess. But the card itself seems rather solid.

Well yea I know they're hand rape, but I figured a +0 Spell/Trap negator would be pretty good there too.

Hand rape, set this, opponent draws Dark Hole :D

Plus you aren't always guaranteed turn 1 anyway.

Well, I guess. But the thing is, FTK version packs lots of Level 3 monsters, so it's ridiculously easy to obliterate opponent's hand completly.

The idea was that the actual cost would be losing field presence, even though you aren't losing advantage because in all honesty, flipping them to defense is a bit more helpful, especially with protecting your Life Points because yes, they do matter to an extent.

I basically had it in my head to make something whose cost was to actually hurt you a bit, rather than some of those cards whose cost is to help your deck go faster.
