John A. Zoidberg
IC: http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/270798-the-instrumental-startedstill-acceptingpg-13/ In this world, men and women are not bound by morals, not by gods, not even by themselves. Rather, they are bound by The Music. The Music is played throughout the world, in the wind, in the sky, in the stars, in the howls of the world's creatures- The Music is everywhere. The Music creates a symphony in life. Humans are no exception. A simple conversation of love could be considered a beautiful melody, furthering the undeniable beauty of the silence in one's home. As a child, one cannot know The Music, as they are young and arrogant. They cannot appreciate the beauty, and thus cannot create their instruments. However, the moment they reach the age of sixteen and transfer to adulthood, they can know The Music. On that day, all new adults travel to the Forest of Melody with a block of wood made from a Red Tree and a carving knife. The Music slowly moves the hands of the new adult and makes them create their Instrument. When they get their Instruments, they can only fall in love with one who has a similar Instrument, as that shows that The Music wants them to be together. Then, they choose one of two things: 1. They settle down, have children, and start a family to live happily ever after between themselves and children. 2. The two go off together and spend the rest of their days adventuring together, defending each other with their lives. It is beautiful. The world is perfect. Or was. One day, The Music stopped, and new adults could not build their Instruments in the Forest of Melody. This caused distress throughout the world, and inevitably caused the uprising of those wishing to find out. No one knew. The adventurers began realizing something: he who solved the problem would be famed. They would be known as the "Savior of Humanity." Many wanted that fame. Thus began war. Men and women alike crafted weapons to fight. As well, they realized the true power of their Instruments. The Instruments each have a special power infused withing them, that when certain songs are played, the user will be benefited or injured as such. The war continued, but still no found why The Music stopped, and no came upon any hints.
Name: Age(above sixteen): Instrument: Songs Known(powers+what they do)(give the two-three main ones): Personality: Bio: Weapon: Appearance: Story of Instrument Obtaining:

1. The obvious things (no god-modding, etc.) 2. You CAN create NPCs and kill them off freely, but don't kill anyone important. 3. I will only accept you I have experience RPing with you/know you're a good RPer. I want this to go well, and a good cast is really what I need for that. I will probably freely decline you if you're someone I'm feeling iffy about. 4. Don't make overpowered songs. For example, no song that instantly kills an enemy or makes you invincible. 5. If you have read and accept these rules, please type "The Sound of Music" in your post. > 6. Try and have fun with it. 7. This doesn't take place in the present or future. Purely past. Which means swords, knives, bows, etc.
I'm really hoping this goes well. I'll make the In Character thread once we two-three apps, and I'll work on making my character now. I only plan on accepting ten at the most. Probably less.
Name: Vayne DuVall Age: Twenty-four Instrument: Acoustic Guitar Songs Known: Reejuv - heals Vayne or whoever he wished to heal. Chords of Moorah- gives a new sense of confidence to one who is in a fight to keep them from backing down. Biind Vile- renders an enemy unable to move and speak temporarily. This will only last for a few minutes. Personality: Vayne is kind, but unforgiving. He will befriend you, but that friendship will end if you cross him, let alone betray the little amount of trust he has for people. Though he is self-loathing, he does love to be helpful, thus he is usually the back-up in a battle where he has allies despite his strength. He is accompanied by his dog Vholmus, who fights with brute strength and can, for some reason, speak English. Bio: Vayne grew up like any other- loving family, an English-speaking dog called Vholmus, and everything else he wanted. There was no particular pain in Vayne’s early, though he does still have the aforementioned sense of self-loathing. This is caused by the death of his parents when he had turned eighteen. They passed of reasons unknown to even him, and left him to take care of Vholmus. He and Vholmus grew particularly close, especially given Vholmus’ ability to speak in the English language. He and Vholmus lived peacefully until the music stopped. When it did, Vayne and Vholmus went off to see what they could find out, thus creating trouble with many of the other wannabe ‘heroes’ of the world that tried for power. Though he had no particular desire to be a hero, Vayne and Vholmus did attempt to find what was even causing the cease of the music. Weapon: Dagger with a rubber grip for extra stability. He'll occasionally poison the tip with a small vial Red-Root Extract he keeps in his pocket for when battled get difficult. Appearance: Long dark-brown hair that’s often tied up in a ponytail. He has a stern face, but often a warm smile. He has a slight beard given the fact that he doesn't have the space in his bag to bring pleasantries such as soap, pillows, etc. He usually wears a blue tunic over a thin steel cuirass. As well, he wears thin metal boots and leather gloves. He keeps the dagger concealed in his tunic in order to keep it hidden from others that he is searching for the end of the Music Drought. His guitar is black, despite being made of redwood, as he The Music crafted it to be so. The strings are a bright gold, similar to the sun. Along the black finish are sections unpainted that form a shape on each side of the guitar: a fox on one, and a bear on the other. Story of Instrument Obtaining: Vayne sat there, questioning whether or not he would even get his instrument. Then, however, the carving knife in his hand began to make steady motions on the wood, slowly forming it into the noticeable shape of an acoustic guitar. Soon enough, the instrument was finished, and the strings slowly formed upon it. Satisfied with himself, Vayne left the forest, a new man, a new musician.

Vayne DuVall- Ryuku Erian Shad- Wandering Artist- Issun Stellarinna "Lyra" Trinity- Atman Seijo

Grunt Issun
I'm in the process of writing my app, and I need to know a few things. 1. What exactly do we write in for the songs part? Is it like, the title of the song, then a description of its effects? If so, should the song name be related to the effects? 2. Is there any minimum to the amount of description for Appearance, Personality, and Bio?

KindredTether
"The Sound of Music" {Thsi is gonna be filled with references } Name: Link Corhkira <Zelda reference I know but I couldnt think of a name OK!> Age: 19 Instrument: Guitar Songs Known (3 main): 1. Perpetual Harmonium Melody | Calms everyone in the vaccinity and puts them into a trance like state where they are some what controllable. [The controllable bit is for getting guards to open gates etc. Nothing god mod like] 2. Creation's Lullaby Medley | Puts everyone in the vaccinity asleep. [Good for getaways] 3. {Ultra} Core Synthesis Amorium | Gives Link the ability to temporarily control all animals/plants around him. [Once again it's an Ult. so it's only for emergencies and when there's something really big and important to do] Personality: Link is a kind and friendly person and that is reflected in his music. He is a person who enjoys spending time with his friends. He dislikes the war but still hopes to find the cause of 'The Musics' disappearance. He has a pet cat named Firestar (Another reference, guess what from) who follows him everywhere. Bio: After the war began his family went into hiding at the village of Southern Beck. There they lived undisturbed until one night a group of rowdy adventurers came into the town demanding to see the towns ancient shrine that had been there since before the village was established. The mayor refused and said that only a chosen few were allowed in. Angrily the adventurers torched the village. Killing everyone except Link, a man named Jorl and the temple monks. Link trained with the monks until he was 18 then moved East to Bluvaile Town named after the amazing flowers that were said to have healing powers found only in that region. There he trained with Kyran until he was 19, which is also where he obtained his sword. He has a nack for reading so always keeps a book handy. Weapon: A half iron half bronze sword (YAY reference time!) that he got from his mentor Kyran. Appearance: Link has chestnut hair and can usuallly be found wearing leather boots, cloth pants and a cloth t-shirt. He always wears a strapping black jacket that was enchanted by the Monks of the Waterfall so that it can cotain his guitar. He wears a long maroon sheath with his sword and always has the necessary equipment for survival in his dragon skin backpack [dragon skin is a theif ward btw] (rope, map and snake venom antidote). How he obtained his instrument: He was one of the last groups of 16 year olds to receive their instruments, for the music stopped mere months after he obtained his Mystical Guitar. GOD DAMN THAT TOOK AGES![s] Im on my iPod[/s] Not anymore!
Grunt Issun
Name: Erian Shad Age: 24 Instrument: Pan Flute Songs Known: Serenade of Healing - Gives off a light aura, healing the wounds of everyone within. Minuet of Destruction - Harms enemies or destroys structures in one of two ways: Cracks or explosions Elegy of Sorrow - Drains an enemy of power, making them weaker, slower, and less defensive Personality: Erian is very confident in himself, commonly going to the point of being considered pretentious. When it comes to doing practically anything, he tries to do it in style, though if it really would take a great deal more energy to do it like that, he'll settle for doing it the boring old way. Erian believes mostly in making useful friendships, accepting only people that can somehow be of use to him, in which case he forms friendships quick, and ends them just as quick when they stop being useful. Above all, he feels that being balanced in skill is far more important than being a master. Bio: Erian was born into, and lived with, an average family like anyone else, though at an early age, he disembarked on his own, ready to study his own path. Throughout his life, he never stuck to any path for a long time, deciding it would be better to be decent in everything he could then to only be good at one thing. Eventually he took up the alias of "The Jack of Hearts", referring to his being a Jack of all Trades, and his tendency to wear red - The 'Hearts' suit is always red, as well as hearts generally being depicted as red -. When the time for the war came, Erian took up the opportunity to show off, and go down in infamy as The Jack of Hearts who restored the music. Weapon: An average length Gilded Cutlass sword. Appearance: Erian has long, wild, and flowing silver hair that falls down past his shoulders. Atop his head he wears a red fedora hat, donned with a white feather. For the flashy effect, he has a red cape that hangs from a ornate Red Jacket with a fancy golden trim. For his legwear, he has red, cotton pants, and Maroon-ish, sturdy boot, and wears clean, white gloves over his hands. His facial features are soft, making him look much more friendly than he actually is, even further increasing the ability for his facades of friendliness, and has light-brown eyes. He is slightly tall, but it is not all that noticeable, and has slightly pale, though almost flawless skin. At his left side he has an ornate Crimson-red sheath with interlacing ivory-colored lines running along both flats to hold his Cutlass. Story of Instrument Obtaining: Erian stood in the Forest of Melody, wondering what brilliant instrument he would craft, and soon, The Music took over and guided his hands into creating the little Pan Flute he now holds. He watched as the holes and tubes began to form, and as he carved ornate designs of clouds and wind into the sides, and was ready to produce The Sound of Music. Alright, how's this? John A. Zoidberg
OOOOH. ISSUN FORGOT TO READ THE RULES. Since you likely recognize your mistake, I'll overlook it, though. Legendary, my problem is that I have no experience with you in an RP, and I have almost no way of knowing whether or not you're good enough to let in. Nothing against you, I'd just rather not let someone I'm unsure about in. If you have a link to an RP you've been in to show me so I can properly judge, then I'll take you under consideration again. For now, sorry, but no. :/

---------------
What if I want an instrument not made of wood, or with parts not made of wood? Like a piano, or a French Horn.
John A. Zoidberg
Well it's not supposed to be realistic. Like, the wood is used to make the part that is made of the wood, then The Music forms the rest of it. (i.e. my character has a guitar, the strings formed on it after the wood was crafted).I mean, piano would be slightly ridiculous given the circumstances of travel, but you know. If you can make it work, you can make it work.
---------------
Doesnt have to be a full grand piano. It can be one of those little flat keyboards you can carry around. Even so, sux you cant have brass. :C
John A. Zoidberg
You can. It'd just be odd. I'd just go with the flat keyboard if I were you [s]WHICH I AM.[/s]

John A. Zoidberg
I limited it to make it seem sort of, like, each person has a rite of passage to go through. I mean, carving a brass instrument with a knife would probably make a less than adequate brass instrument. :/ And I'm really not limiting it that much. It's just as long as it involved wood in some way (it could even be like a trumpet with wooden valves for all I care), it doesn't matter.
Grunt Issun
This is why I went with something realistic like a Pan Flute. That was the only thing I could think of, because I put that down BEFORE you made YOUR app with the guitar. I imagined most instruments would be of the wind variety, like Flutes, Piccolos, and Ocarinas.
John A. Zoidberg
Essentially you can have whatever instrument you want. Just if the original instrument has nothing to do with wood change a minor part of it to be made of wood. And there can be multiple guitarists, but the thing is- there's only gonna be a max of seven people in this, and having 4/7 of them being guitarists would be meh, so you know. I'd prefer that everyone uses a different instrument. I know it was probably a dick move taking guitar, but out of the two instruments I play in real life (guitar and trumpet), I'm far more passionate about guitar, hence choosing it. Though you could choose something similar to the guitar and I'd have no qualms. For example, banjo, mandolin, sitar, etc. Hell, you could even be an upright bass player. Bio: Literally her entire family had recieved a woodwind instrument when it was their respective turns to enter the Forest of Melody. Stelarinna was the first exception in years, having carved a small harp. As such, she recieved the nickname Lyra, meaning Lute or Harp. She quickly became a superb harpist. Soon after 18, she got married, had a girl, and, due to war, widowed. Her girl, named Anna, is currently three years old. When war called her out, she chose to protect instead of fight. She didn't make a weapon, but instead focused the powers her harp had on augmentations to her friends and diminishments of the effects of... others.
