Makο
I was scrolling through the Generals section of the command and conquer website, and I found this. "Maximum Destructive Capability - Assemble your war machine with top-secret Aurora Strike Fighters, massive Paladin Battle Tanks, Angry Mobs, skilled Hackers and over 60 other distinct units. Bring death from above with your side’s exclusive super weapon – the US Air Fuel Bomb, the Chinese Nuclear Missile, or the GLA Scud Storm." "Bring death from above with your side’s exclusive super weapon – the US Air Fuel Bomb, the Chinese Nuclear Missile, or the GLA Scud Storm." "the US Air Fuel Bomb, the Chinese Nuclear Missile, or the GLA Scud Storm." "the US Air Fuel Bomb" WAT. Oh, so, instead of choosing the PARTICLE UPLINK CANNON that fires a HUGE BLUE LASER OF DEATH into space that BOUNCES OFF OF A SATELLITE HITTING ANYWHERE ON THAT SIDE OF THE PLANET, you choose a FUEL AIR BOMB. DEEEEERP. Anyway, it's basically an RTS game based around a little bit into the future. It's mostly modern, is fun, and has a kickass soundtrack. What's not to love? Discuss if you want. ragnarok1945
ah yes, this was one of the older games I have you played Generals: Zero Hour?
Makο
Yeah, the disc I have is the Deluxe edition. Both Generals and Zero Hour on 1 disc.
ragnarok1945
lucky you, I had buy them separately anyways, I still liked used GLA a lot, I just wished they had airpower
Makο
I prefer the good ole', US of A. What's your Favorite General from Zero Hour? For me, Laser General. His base defenses are almost untouchable.
ragnarok1945
that guy? His defenses are pathetic. All you have to do is Scud Storm the power grid and they all power down I preferred Dr. Thrax better
Makο
This is why you don't do what I used to do, which was cluster my Cold Fusion Reactors together. Besides, he's not all Defense. He has pretty strong offensive units as well.
ragnarok1945
his laser tanks ALSO require power. Besides, the GLA Quad Cannons are cheaper. Just upgrade them with the Junk Repair, Armor Piercing Bullets and you can steamroll right over him
Makο
It all depends on the tactics the General employs. Human player ≠ Computer
ragnarok1945
yeah and that's the problem when challenging the laser general AI, he keeps the reactors all clumped together For me, I spread ALL my buildings apart. That way, a GLA player can't level my whole base with a Scud Storm
Makο
My brother loves taking his buildings, applying the cloak upgrade, and placing them all throughout the map, never having more than MAYBE 2 buildings in one spot. When I watch him play, it's hysterical.
ragnarok1945
ah yes, I remember that too well I usually don't play too much with the cloak upgrade
Makο
For me, my favorite thing to do while playing is to goof around in the campaign. SO MUCH FUN.
ragnarok1945
same here to an extent I prefer using mass angry mobs with the AK-47 upgrade and burning buildings
Makο
I'll just tsake my forces and cripple structures, either ending with them completely destroyed or damaged. Then I'll just patrol my units through the streets. xD
ragnarok1945
figures I also take a lot of tanks and run over civilians with it
Makο
I do less of that. I'm more of a totalitarian commander who is not blood thirsty.
ragnarok1945
I prefer calling it a matter of "kill the civilians so the GLA can't recruit them"
Makο
That's like saying "I'm killing all the civilians in the city so that the enemy won't be able to kill them." Anyway, like's talk about soundtrack. The Generals them is BA. Any objections?
ragnarok1945
I actually don't pay attention to the soundtrack As for the quote you just mentioned earlier, I suggest you remember American General Patton's quote: "War is a brutal business. It takes a brutal man to wage and direct war." Therefore, you have to BECOME the monster in warfare.
Makο
I understand, but rather than killing, you could just quarantine. This way, at least they escape with their lives. Also, SHUUUUN.
ragnarok1945
anyways, I was never really happy they didn't put that one GLA general up for you to challenge, the one that always used explosives Where the cycles come with suicide bombers aboard. Those would have been REALLY hard to stop
Makο
Gotta love the fact that the troops are interchangeable for the bikes.
ragnarok1945
yeah I really liked that always switch them with RPG troopers for rocket cycles. Made killing tanks much easier
Makο
Also useful for easy Worker transit. Tanks coming after your workers? Nope. MOTORCYCLES.
