Admiral Tim
Cryptozoology. A new word not found in many dictionaries. It is a branch of zoology that studies supernatural beasts or beings unexplainable by modern science. These creatures have been aptly named Cryptids. Monsters that have been mentioned in mythologies from around the world. The griffin from Babylon, The Japanese monster known as the Kappa. The feared Dragons of the western world. These are just some of the names of the fantastical beasts many people pass off as fakes. However to some, the names of these terrible creatures strike fear into the very depth of their soul. This is more than a club. This is an organization that believes these legendary beings do exist. Do you believe in the unexplained mysteries of cryptzoology? If you do then join us, in the eternal hunt to solve the mysteries surrounding these monstrous creatures. So ya apart from that big opening speech, this club is devoted to talking about all the mythical, fantastical, horrifying, and downright awesome cryptids of this world and the next. Not many rules. Chat about monsters, ghosts or just whatever random things you feel like. Don't spam and just follow the YCM rules. Also, you can call this the SoC for short.

Username: Admiral Tim/Majortim Age: 12 Favorite Cryptid: The werewolf. A beast found all across western mythology. A man by day but a terrible wolf-beast by night. Seemingly driven by rage it brutally attacks villagers. Usually killing and eating them. If you do happen to survive being bitten by one, the night of the full moon will transform you into another raging howling beast. This snarling hulking beast is almost unstoppable. Though many believe it has one weakness. A precious metal know as silver.

Username: Lexadin Age: 18 Favorite Cryptid: The Shinigami. Litterally it means 'Death God'. Is the personifacation of death in Japan. Simulair to the Grim Reaper in Europe. Not much is know of when they first apeared, but they do not seem to apear in any folklore before a certain date. Meaning they are either really well hidden or a relatively new phenomenon in Japan. Either way they are now imbedded into the Japanese culture, and bound to our souls. Which they are waiting to get.

Username:Alexis Rhodes Age: NA Favorite Cryptid: Unicorn

Username: Nevermore Age:16 Favorite Cryptid: Mokele-mbembe. It's name means "one who stops the flow of rivers". It is reported to live in the Congo River basin and is said to be a living dinosaur. It's probably a descendant of a sauropod, or long necked, dinosaur.

Every now and then i'll get around to doing a little "Report" on a cryptid. This is where I'll store the information.
Cryptid #1 The Werewolf A beast found throughout western mythology. Striking fear through the hearts of englishmen everywhere. A beast so strong it could rip a man to pieces. Yet so villainous and evil he can spread his curse like a plague. I’ve made it my quest to find out about rare and mythological beasts know as cryptids. I have always been intrigued about the werewolf. All fangs and muscle, the perfect killing machine. Lycanthrope. Another name for the Werewolf. Described as being taller then the average man, around seven feet or taller. A terrifying hybrid between a man and a wolf. Shaggy with course hair and sharp fangs and claws, the Werewolf has a frightening appearance. Driven by rage and killer instinct this large, well muscled monster strikes by the light of the moon. As far as facial appearances go, the werewolf would have a very, wolf like face. Long snout, yellowed teeth, pointed ears and piercing eyes. Combine that with a man like figure that walks upright. You have a monster that appears in nightmares. Now werewolves have been reported all across the world. They first appeared in Greek mythology. A story of Zeus transforming Lycaon into a hideous wolf-beast as a punishment. They then appeared all through european folktales. England, Spain, Serbia, Russia and many other countries. nearly every european country has their own version of the werewolf. Then there are the few reports from Asia. Turkic folklore tells of a mystic shaman who can transform into a wolf. Perhaps most frightening of all are the tales of the North-american werewolf. Stories of giant caribou eating wolves from Canada, then American tales of witches in wolves’ clothing. Finally Mexico and Haiti both tell of malevolent wolf spirits that posses or steal. Although intimidating and certainly widespread, is the Werewolf really that threatening? Well ancient stories tell of wolves killing and ripping apart humans, even eating them. However what is more horrific than the sheer brutality of this blood crazed monster is its disguise. By night it is the wolf but by day the werewolf takes on a human appearance. Blending in with others it really is an attack from within. There was no way of truly telling who was a wolf and who was not. Many believed people kept wolf-like features whilst in human morph but many stories fail to mention to state any tell-tale faults. The killer could be a villager, a neighbor, your friend or even your family. You never know when the fatal bite is about to come, until it is too late. So now we come to the werwolf’s final asset. The malevolent creature has one more trick. The ability to spread its curse like a plague. If the cannibalistic wolf does not eat or kill you, he will bite you. It is said one bitten by a werewolf, will transform into another one the next full moon. Think about this. One wolf bites someone. A few weeks later, the two wolves bite two people. A few weeks after that the four wolves bite four more people. Unless killed the wolves keep multiplying and multiplying. Soon a whole village would be turned into brutal killing machines. Then they spread to the next, and the next. These three traits are what makes the werewolf so deadly. Werewolves do however have one fatal flaw. Their weakness to silver. When shot or pierced by a silver object the wolves are said to die instantly. Nowadays werewolf sightings are herd less and less. Fading away more and more to becoming just myths and tales. The dominate teen literature as the hero. A much different story than that of which was told hundreds of years ago. So even though the werewolf may fade over the years, becoming more of a teenage fantasy than the terror it once was. The werewolf will always be a cryptid in my books. Feared throughout North America and Europe for its vicious nature and plague spreading abilities, this cryptid is one to be feared. Admiral Tim
Ahh, the classic death god. Not being investigated but a cryptid nonetheless.
Lexadin
Yep, I also like the European variant. Reapers.
Admiral Tim
I'm pretty sure that reapers/death gods were created to explain one of the most frightening happenings of all. Death. They were created to pray to and be worshipped or hated. It all depends what country they're from but they are all respected in one way or another. Lexadin
True, though just like what they reprecent. They where also feared. And so where the people who worshipped them.
Admiral Tim
Yea, so apart from the death gods, what other cryptids do you know of?
Tourmaline
I was actually really contemplating joining this, but I don't think I'd be accepted. The first nigh-supernatural being that comes to mind for me is the Doppelganger. The name itself has always sounded creepy to me.

Is there a surviving community of them living in the deep undersea caves of the Loch?
Admiral Tim
Yeah, really it looks like a plesiosaur but conveniently it lives in a muddy, dark unsearchable lake.... :-/ Anyways not many sightings in the recent years lead many believers to think that 'Nessie' has passed away and died.
Nɇvɇrmorɇ
But then again it was also a popular belief that there wasn't just one Nessie; there were many. If there was only one, it should have died a long time ago. Since the earliest known report was in the 7th century.
Admiral Tim
Mm. Maybe recent expeditions have just scared it into hiding?
Nɇvɇrmorɇ
That's possible. And there are plenty of places to hide in the Loch Ness.
Admiral Tim
Yup, full of caverns and murkiness. Anyways let's talk about another common cryptid. The Sasquatch or any of its relatives.
