Samurai Champloo

This resentment towards "random" and "filler" is really something that people need to stop. When you watch a show like Naruto that throws random episodes out there for some more cash, sure, but when a story progresses slowly or is composed of largely random events many people can't handle it anymore because they're practically conditioned to scowl at the sight of a show taking its time that has scenes which won't necessarily compound into a climax, despite ow much insight into a character it might give you. The pacing was spot on.

And characters were well-written for their short appearances, IMO. I can still clearly remember distinct characters only in the show for an episode or two(the three killers at the end were kind of a let-down though).

This is the only show I've watched where the OST was dominated by Jazz Hop, which doesn't hurt. The genre needs more attention than it gets and as Champloo proved it works with shows rather well. Speaking of, did SC ever use this one? Would've worked so well:

Really? Whenever I think back on the characters they've met, I keep coming up with the same generic bum with lacking dental hygiene and the same gritty gangster voice, though there are a few exceptions such as the blind lady (forget her name, but she kicked a*s) and the nice gay British guy.
But true, I thought Mugen, Jin and Fuu were developed well, bit by bit with each episode.
The OST had a unique beat to it. I'm not sure if the video you posted was used, but it definitely has the same feel.

They threw out lots of trope characters, yeah, but really just for the side roles and one-swing enemies. Any of the characters given larger roles had pretty well-defined personalities. The blind lady was one of the best, yeah. I don't recall a gay or British character.

He was behind about half of the songs. Fat Jon and Force of Nature made a good deal of it too.

He was only around for an episode, so I guess I wouldn't blame someone forgetting him. He just stuck to me personally because he was so different from everyone else in the show.
I can agree Sarah was one of the better characters and I suppose Mukuro and his sister were good too, or at least his sister.
