~~~
Sometime long after the Final War, a great conflict that caused the collapse of humanity mid 21st century, humanity began to rebuild, scrounging together in tight-knit groups. Thus began the cycle of civilization anew: families grew into communities, communities into towns, towns into alliances, alliances into countries. The most powerful of the countries were centered in North America, which was the shining podium of technology pre-war. From these countries, though, one rose to the top. Built on the ruins of a long-forgotten city, the empirical Dominion established itself as the dominating force that would change the world. Its secret weapon? The Sentinel.
Sentinels, as one could describe, are powerful war machines. They served as the sword and shield of the Dominion along with their owners; The Harmonizers. Only they could pilot and Synchronize with the mysterious Core of the Sentinels, unlike other humans. Most Harmonizers took high places in the government, using their own powers as a sort of bargaining tool. With their new weapons of mass destruction, the Dominion began to slaughter everything that stood in their way. It wasn't long until others found their own Harmonizers and Sentinels.
The continent is on the verge of complete domination by Dominion, who holds more than half of the land making it up. They're poised to assault the remaining nations with their superior Sentinel models and veteran pilots. However, a small rebel faction seems to be causing trouble for the Dominion. They hold the last key to their complete domination of North America: The Synchite mine. This is where our story begins...
-----
Current Plot: Chapter 1
The massive Aires Grace is advancing towards the Rebel group holding down the Death Valley excavation site. This dangerous, mine filled area is perfect for defending- and is something worth defending, too.The sought-after Synchite mine, which the Dominion requires to power their own cities and machinery, is located here. Will the Rebel faction be able to hold out against the might of the Dominion while still protecting their own people? The pieces are set; Ready for battle!
Dominion: Rising up from small roots to the greatest force in North America has created a strong national unity. The Dominion focus on unity above all us, when conquering territory survivors are taken in with full citizenry. Raising its hammer of equality and justice in the land, it sacrifices some the freedom wastelanders have come to live by. However, the pursuit of security and prosperity over that absolute freedom seems a noble price. The Dominion's conquest has finally moved to quell a long standing rebel nation, to once again move it to become one with its ever growing diverse and populous domain. As the cannons of Aires Grace aim down at those who would oppose the Emperor and the Dominion as a whole, the sparks are set... and the great-sword of the nation, the Sentinels stand braced to serve their part in uniting the world under equality and peace.
Rebels: Suffered under the tyranny and watchful eye of the Dominion, California is not the first area to start an insurrection but it is certainly the strongest. Craving the freedom and independence from their overlords, they retook the ruins of Angelius (formerly L.A.) and the Dominion stronghold in the area. Since then they have fended off assaults using the surrounding border with is stricken with fallout and active leftover mines. The government of the nation is less of a government and more of a council of ruling tribes from across the Mojave up to the northern mountains who seem to only agree on national defense. The united military, constituents of nationalistic youth, ragtag mercenaries, former veterans, and most importantly power Harmonizers and Sentinels backed by the richest Synchite mines in the Western Hemisphere. Together they manage to stay banded under a cause of freedom and so they raise their banner in the face of the grim Aires Grace.
Harmonizers: Harmonizers are select humans who have attained (through unknown means) the ability to manipulate matter at a very small level. They do this subconsciously, and as such usually have little to no control over the power. However, when this ability is put into synchronization with a Sentinel and its core, this power is vastly increased and it becomes tame. Though all Harmonizers share the basic trait of manipulating matter and energy, the way an individual does this is very different than how another person does it. One might be able to control, create, and manipulate steel, while another could create fire on a whim. It all boils down to the individual.
Sentinels: A Sentinel is what one could call a mecha; A machine that one controls from the inside. It might even be better described as a sort of suit; they are about 8 feet tall and are humanoid in shape, and are very smooth in appearance. Small wings jut out of the back of them on some models, whereas others have missile pods or guns attached to the back. The Harmonizer (Someone who could use a Sentinel; Ordinary humans lack the ability to activate them) is 'seated' in the podlike torso of the Sentinel. Once inside, they're put into a sort of Vertical Space; An infinite plane of emptiness. While they are in that space, their body movements are mimicked by the Sentinel and the Sentinel's eyes are their eyes. The Harmonizer's body still resides in the Sentinel's core, but their mind resides in the Vertical Space. When Synchronized, a Sentinel (at the basic level) will greatly amplify the latent abilities of its Harmonizer- At the greatest the powers will be amplified ten-thousand fold. A Sentinel's bond with its Harmonizer is measured in "Synchronization" from 0% to 100%. The stronger the bond, the higher the number. It is relatively uncommon for most Harmonizers to achieve a Synchronization rating of over 30%.
Synchite (Pronounced: Sink-Ite): A soft, reddish-white metal. Very valuable. Used to recharge and maintain the Sentinel's power core.
Character Name: Aaron
Character Age: 19
Character Gender: Male
Character Callsign (if any): Ace
Character Description: Aaron is of average height and build, topping off at about 5'11. His skin is a pallid white, due to extensive time spent inside of his Sentinel. This has also slightly discolored his hair, once a glorious brown, now a pale beige. His eyes are the only features of his that actually stand out- they are a brilliant emerald green, a rarity among the wastelands. He's taking a dislike to his eye color, though, and uses corrective lenses (his vision isn't the best in the world) to change them to a dirt brown color. This is the only thing he really cares about when it comes to appearance. His hair is unkempt and messy, and usually matted down from being inside the Sentinel. He has a scar that runs across his left arm, a reminder of a previous battle with a rival.
Sentinel Name: Jester
Sentinel Description: Jester is your one average, run-of-the-mill Sentinel- 10 feet tall, milky white in color, humanoid in shape (if you're having a hard time picturing what any Sentinel actually looks like, think Portal 2 + Gundam.) The only things that sets this Sentinel apart from the other default Sentinels are the wings and the head. The wings are almost non-existent, with the only thing representing them being small disks where they should be. The head, unlike the usual orblike head of the others, is a pointed crow-like mech head.
Synchronization Rate: 36%
Faction: The California Rebellion
Harmonizer Powers: Aaron has the ability to change the shape of his weapon at will- and in this case, the weapon is his Sentinel.
Character Personality: He's rather bit laid back, which one wouldn't really expect due to his serious attitude that he takes on when piloting his Sentinel. Aaron's quick to brush off most insults and doesn't care what others think of him. He'll only fully respect those who fight on fair grounds, no matter which side they're actually fighting for, be it Dominion or another rival rebel group. He's never actively looking for a relationship, and as he would say in his own words: "Love and war, kid, don't mix."
Character Biography: As a boy Aaron lived in Dominion, with his father working aboard massive sky ship Aires Grace. He admired those who had the ability to 'harmonize' with the Sentinels, and he always dreamed of being able to do so himself. His wish came true, though the price of this offset his feelings about it. After his father walked him through the Aires Grace's hangar, multiple Sentinels were activated as he walked by them. Others quickly began to notice and notified the authorities that Aaron's father had a six year-old son that was a Harmonizer. About a week after, the Dominion Executive Force broke into Aaron's home and stole him away in the night, leaving his family in a puddle of tears. His father was the only one who would know the truth about his disappearance, but kept his mouth close as speaking of his abduction would mean treason, and the death of his family.
He was entered into the Dominion Elite Corps. after his abduction and was trained in the art of Harmonization, but would soon find out that his powers weren't active without a Sentinel nearby, unlike the others who could create fire or bend metal. He made a few friends and rivals in the corps. as he grew, and eventually was assigned his own Sentinel at the tender age of fourteen. His initial Synchronization rating was 16%- nearly triple that of the others who Synchronized for the first time. Being a natural at piloting, he soared through the ranks. At 16 he found out about the executive order to abduct any and every child who showed signs of Harmonizer abilities; His mind was wiped when he was a child, but his memories flooded back. In a fit of anger he fled from the Dominion and the Aires Grace, heading towards California. There he found a niche with a few other rogue harmonizers who possessed their own Sentinels. They planned to strike back at the Dominion, and Aaron quickly took a liking to the group.
Character Name: Astral
Character Age: 20
Character Gender: Male
Character Callsign (if any): Hail Mary
Character Description: A large build, with broad shoulders and decent muscles. Nothing to large, though. About 6', with Hazel Brown Eyes, Brown but black when wet hair, and decently tanned skin. His hair length, when down, can go down to his eyebrows, but he usually keeps it to the side or up on his head. He is typically a bit dusty, as he spends quite a lot of time outside, pacing and thinking. He wears a Pilots Jacket he dug up from an old ruin, along with a white shirt under it (dusty, of course), and brown cargo pants. He is very fast on his feet, and agile.
Sentinel Name: Vaultion
Sentinel Description: Vaultion, or just Vault, is an odd piece. Unlike normal Sentinels, it stands at an astonishing 12', has far more jagged edges, and has slightly digitigrade legs. Some would say it is the combination of a human's upper half, and a dog’s torso. The advantage of this leg design, however, is a higher than average jumping ability. It is brown and rust in color, presumably to help keep it concealed, as it blends in with the wasteland quite well. The design of the Sentinel makes it weak to heavy enemy fire, able to take only a few shots from cannons and heavy machine guns before collapsing. It can also hold only a few weapons, and nothing too heavy. An average machine gun at the most. It makes up for its weakness with it's agility. You can only defeat a Sentinel if you can hit it. It's light frame allows it to boast a powerful Booster Pack on the back, with large wings jetting out both sides, increasing the amount of time it can stay in the air compared to a normal Sentinel tri-fold. It's mainly used as a scout or harassment unit, able to make hit and run attacks, escaping over nearby blockage points, such as cliffs. While piloting, Astral has no need to bend his legs back to fit the leg shape, letting him move around very quickly. Its most effective weapon is a silver sword that jets out from its right arm.
Synchronization Rate: 29%
Faction: The Californian Rebellion
Harmonizer Powers: Able to manipulate the light that hits his Sentinel, rendering him practically invisible. In broad daylight, a slight silhouette of Vault can be seen, revealing his position. This ability is most effective at night. It can only move at very slow speeds, and can't fire, as anything too intense will disrupt his concentration, causing the cloak to fail. Better for nearby recon and sniping duties. Only a light sniper rifle can be equipped during this task, however, since the light frame would not be able to withstand the recoil of a heavy sniper shot.
Character Personality: This fellow is a real chill guy. However, he tends to hold secret grudges against those he feels have did him wrong and he couldn't get back. Despite being a quite the chatterbox, he rather enjoys moving around quietly and quickly, making his presence typically unknown to those around him, even with his large physique. He has an annoying habit of popping in and out at random times. This quirk was probably the biggest influence for his Harmonizer Power. He is defensive about those he likes, but will only help if he feels they truly need it, for he thinks people need to learn to stand up for themselves, both on the battlefield and off.
Character Biography: Astral was born and raised in a small colony along the coast of California, around the Ventura area. His father was a miner, as that area had an abnormally high amount of Synchite. During his childhood, his father often took him to the mines, teaching him how mine equipment worked and how to distinguish Synchite from other materials. After years of little to no contact from the Dominion, Dominion forces quickly came in a seized the colony for its Synchite supplies. Astral was always fascinated by the large Sentinels, but there was one that always caught his attention. A larger than average, oddly designed Sentinel owned and operated by the commander of the task force in the area. Astral would often follow the machine around, and just gaze at it in his spare time.
After years of mining and trading, almost no hostilities with the Dominion arose. This all changed when the supply of Synchite finally ran dry. The Dominion, who the Ventura colony had become dependent on, packed up and began to leave. Before they left, a few friends of Astral dared him to run over and touch the strange Sentinel that the commander used. To his friends delight, he complied to the task, and sprinted over to the mech, slapping its legs. As he did, however, the machine began to make whirring noises, and powered on. Terrified, Astral stumbled backward and began to crawl away. However, the commander of the force saw what went down. He ran down and picked up Astral before he could make his escape. As the commander began to carry him off, he realized that his friends had seen the event, and was awestruck. At that moment, they were shot and killed by the commander himself. Soon enough, Astral had been taken to start training to be a Harmonizer for the Dominion.
After his brainwashing, his training immediately went into affect. His scores during tests were extremely high for his age, but his piloting skills left more to be desired. He didn’t like the speed of most Sentinels he was given, thinking them too slow. During his time at the academy, he didn’t want to have a very large profile. So he began to become a real sneak, always moving around without those around him noticing. Eventually, he gained the reputation as the ghost of the academy. Always there, but never there. Due to him always being sneaky and, quite frankly, invisible, Astral’s harmonizer power began to form as this. He was told never to use that ability unless ordered otherwise or an emergency arises.
At age 20, after 10 years of training and adjusting, Astral graduated, finally being sent on his first mission. It was a light recon to Ventura, California. He began to explore the place, breaking off from the rest of his group, until he discovered it. The skeletons of his friends, both still in the open, lying in the same position as they were after they were shot. The horrible memories of the incident began to pour back into his mind. Everything his Dad taught him, the strange mech, the abduction. The murders. He kept his newfound knowledge under raps, and began to plot the untimely demise of the commander that killed his friends.
After extensive digging, found out that the commander he was looking for was at the very same base he was stationed at. Finally using his abilities, he infiltrated his headquarters and killed him in his sleep with a knife the commander kept next to his bed. He fled through the window before he was discovered, and found the large mech of his childhood. Commandeering it, he instantly took a liking to it, as it was far faster than any other Sentinel he had piloted. He escaped the base, and eventually made his was to the Californian Rebellion, whom he joined in a heartbeat.
Character Name: Cheshire
Character Age: 27
Character Gender: Male
Character Description: Cheshire is extremely tall at 6'3'' but a stick making him appear quite grim. His narrow crimson eyes, crisp almost snow blonde hair hanging long, and sickly pale skin doesn't serve to waver that appearance. He is usually seen outside of combat with elaborate loose-fitting gray robes with dull red rim that trail behind him and in-combat with a similar gray and red pattern on his Coordinator Suit, a specialized body suit created by the Azure Guard for it's officers to maximize sync rates.
Sentinel Name: Bloody Queen
Sentinel Description: Queen is a graceful Sentinel which emphasis on speed and maneuverability. Armored in sanguine plates and a midnight black base. At it's side are twin short scythes that maximize swift unpredictable attacks and guard piercing blows making it ideal for battlefield assassinations and marked targets rather then large-scale warfare or frontal assaults. While not armed to the teeth with weapons it's basic form allows for flexible use of his harmonizer powers.
Synchronization Rate: 41.4%
Faction: Dominion (Azure Guard)
Harmonizer Powers: Manipulation of Light/Energy
Character Personality: Cheshire is built around his strong sadistic desire to destroy and independence. Only under unknown conditions does Cheshire now work for Azure Guard and thus Dominion, though his actions are often seen as unbecoming or even rebellious themselves he still serves faithfully. His normal persona is something of mix of violence and sarcastic tones mixed with riddles and manipulation. In combat, this sadism takes to a whole new level often being engulfed with bloodlust and choosing sides and opponents at a whim; reaching near ecstasy and insanity when combating an opponent he finds of true worth, lessing with less challenge.
Character Biography: Chesh's history has been scattered, distorted, and altered over time by employers and himself. The only clear evidence left is of a life as an orphanage in the fast-growing Empire City. An trace of his parents have long been destroyed, a theory is by Cheshire himself. His life began when he escaped at the age of 17 and lived on the streets and surrounding outposts victim to bandits and Dominion guards alike. It wasn't long until he picked up skills himself with his own sadist personality being more and more dominate, claiming his first kill was the mayor of a small outpost somewhere near the ruins of old St. Louis. From there he moved on to a mercenary, earning a reputation as a one man armada with firearms he was captured by the Dominion for heinous crimes of murder and treason (due to someone his clients wishes). While imprisoned under the Imperial Palace at the age of 25, he was granted a mysterious arrangement which freed him and under the gainful employment of Azure Guard, Dominion's private contractor and R&D department involving old world technology. Since which, he has been working as a higher up in Azure and Dominion's warhound.
Where's Raine?
Also reserve me.
Raine is still developing his characters, but this roleplay is mainly his brainchild.
this was made with the limited understanding of everything, since you didn't give much info about how everything works. :s
currently, I think that every Sentinel looks sort of like a machine version of gemknightpearl that moves about as fast as the first season of Mobile Suit Gundam.
there's also a lot more questions about everything, but I'll get back to you on those. It's late.
Contrary to what you think, most if not all Sentinels are light, fast, and agile. That's mostly due to their overall low damage resistance, with only the actual Core of the machine protecting a majority of it. How would you know this, though? I'm afraid I haven't exactly explained everything.
>.<
How your character would have been abducted is exactly how the Dominion rolls, take what they want and don't let anyone know they did it. I really need to add more information and stuff. Yeah, the rebels are a bunch of ragtag Harmonizers and their supporters who want to stop the total advance of the Dominion.
I really like your app, too, but the personality just seems... a bit too, eh, perfect and a little cliche. Maybe edit that a smidge and I'll accept you ^_^
Any further questions, just ask me.
Sure, I'll give it an edit.
When I made the whole comment about MGS, I meant the actual speed of the GUNDAM, not the season itself. xD
also, did you draw that yourself? cause that's f***ing awesome.
ps: isn't that first one the head from the Patlabor mechs?
edit: done and done. Hope the personality is less cliche nao :3 btw took the liberty to add this to my sig
Accepted.
And no, I did not. All credit for those drawings go to ShadowHyperreal @ dA.
I might get to drawing some myself, as what I imagine the mecha to look like is something I've really never seen before, and those were the closest I could find to what I wanted.
[ P.S. I've never watched Gundam, I wouldn't know, nor do I know what a Patlabor is >.< ]
If you're gonna watch either Gundam OR Patlabor, watch the abridged series for both of them. Made by the same people. Both hysterical.
GuttedWrenStudios is their name.
Anyway, I maaay have a bit of trouble with this. Because my favorite type of mech are the massively huge, bulky, slow, and powerful mechs. You know, like something you'd see in Chromehounds. (Google it if you don't know what that is)
But I'll try my VERY best!
Sorry for delaying my app but School, sickness, and poor computer/internet performance has been quite detrimental. Here's Cheshire:
Character Name: Cheshire
Character Description: Cheshire is extremely tall at 6'3'' but a stick making him appear quite grim. His narrow crimson eyes, crisp almost snow blonde hair hanging long, and sickly pale skin doesn't serve to waver that appearance. At it's side are twin short scythes that maximize swift unpredictable attacks and guard piercing blows making it ideal for battlefield assassinations and marked targets rather then large-scale warfare or frontal assaults. While not armed to the teeth with weapons it's basic form allows for flexible use of his harmonizer powers.
Character Biography: Chesh's history has been scattered, distorted, and altered over time by employers and himself. The only clear evidence left is of a life as an orphanage in the fast-growing Empire City. An trace of his parents have long been destroyed, a theory is by Cheshire himself. His life began when he escaped at the age of 17 and lived on the streets and surrounding outposts victim to bandits and Dominion guards alike. It wasn't long until he picked up skills himself with his own sadist personality being more and more dominate, claiming his first kill was the mayor of a small outpost somewhere near the ruins of old St. Louis. From there he moved on to a mercenary, earning a reputation as a one man armada with firearms he was captured by the Dominion for heinous crimes of murder and treason (due to someone his clients wishes). While imprisoned under the Imperial Palace at the age of 25, he was granted a mysterious arrangement which freed him and under the gainful employment of Azure Guard, Dominion's private contractor and R&D department involving old world technology. Since which, he has been working as a higher up in Azure and Dominion's warhound.
Awesome! I'll give this a try.
Character Name: Thar G. Mcgee
Character Age: 22
Character Gender: Male
Character Description: Thar was born a natural brunette, but given the circumstances, his past forced him to change his looks. He now has highlights, along with a thin mustache and a goatee that matches his brown, leather jacket. His eyes glimmer a seductive green following up with a curvy figure and a beer belly that gives him the look of a man who knows business. A cowboy hat and boots would be enough to make him the Chuck Norris of the post-war, only a few pounds more across the chest.
Sentinel Name: Brothe Donahue (brahth dah-nah-hyoo)
Sentinel Description: Like its controller, Brothe had a history with Thar over the years during the war. Standing 10' 6" up straight, his specially designed fists were made to pack a punch. While both fists were like battering rams, his chest was built to withstand forces that would normally break a man's ribs. However, Brothe's exposure to water balances the scale as well as shots to the groin and inner thighs, which he keeps a sash with the lone star implanted on the base. Like his jacket, Brothe's metal coat shows a shiny dark-brown finish with gold-colored joints and a crimson metallic reddish brown around the waist looking like a speedo.
Synchronization Rate: 39.7%
Faction: Rebels
Harmonizer Powers: As a lone body, Thar holds the ability to manipulate any kind of soil beneath his feet. But when bonded with Brothe, his Sentinel, he gains control of the Earth's mantle, able to make a fountain of lava rise from the surface and taint the grounds with dangerous hazards to neutralize crime and promote justice. This ability has its limits, of course.
Character Personality: Thar is normally quite reserved, but what he lacks in socialism he makes up for in action. When he sees a damsel in distress, he does not hesitate to save her. Normally, as a veteran guard, he does not accept "rewards", but since his father left him to fend for himself, he goes by his instincts. His big belly jiggles when he laughs, and when he does laugh, it is filled with heart. His cool is very well secure and it is very rarely lost, and when it does or is on the brink, a few beers rid of it easily. A drink at the bar is enough to get to know Thar, but when it comes down to business, his mind is set only on the task at hand and does not let any temptation get the best of him.
Character Biography: Thar was always the type of person that demanded justice anytime a crime was placed. On the streets, one sight of suspicious activity would make him chase after criminals and turn them in. His father was a full-time sergeant for his home town while Thar's mother lived off of his earnings, limiting their investments to mandatory living needs. Thar always wanted to be like his dad, so he went to law school and started off as a guard for various city attractions. The mayor was pleased with his performance and ability to keep crime limited, promoting him to sergeant, his dad's level. After his dad was shot in the head by the Dominion during the war, he grieved tears of blood and started a life of rebellion, barely escaping the blade to the neck by his mother and shooting her on the spot. He knew he had no choice but to flee, but first he scouted his home, finding a nearly finished project that his dad had started to award his efforts. He did his dad a favor by finishing it, making it his own and setting out to live a life of rebellion against the ones who murdered his reason for living.
