burnpsy
A manga that started serialization last week, by the creator of Double Arts. bury the year
Another trite romance story? I've seen all those tropes he used before, and it wasn't too original. Might change my opinion, but for now, wishing he just stuck to Double Arts.
burnpsy
Double Arts got canceled, so saying that he should have stuck to it is a bit...
bury the year
Double Arts got canceled, so saying that he should have stuck to it is a bit...
Then let me rephrase. I wish he could've continued Double Arts instead of this, if at all possible. Komi seems to be better at fantasy/sci-fi stories rather than romance - you can see it in his older works. Romcom manga are just a dime a dozen nowadays. >:I
burnpsy
While I don't disagree, I'm willing to give this new series the benefit of the doubt for a few chapters. Trying something new that nobody expects to go over well when you consider who's writing it doesn't mean it will suck. I mean, nobody honesly expeced Ken Akamatsu to be any good at combat shonen... That, plus the part where we haven't seen any of the scenes where they have to falsify their love yet.
burnpsy
Chapter 2: http://reader.imperialscans.com/reader/read/nisekoi/en/0/2/page/
bury the year
Mmm, still not impressed. My major point of contention is that I've seen what they're doing played out too many times before in other manga. Even if they have to fake everything, it's just too predictable. burnpsy
At present, it seems they're still re-treading ground from the oneshot, except with a 2nd girl involved. In any event, while I've seen way too many manga with romance playing large roles in he plot, I haven't seen any others where the characters are faking it all. That's the main reason why I'm reading this. That, and that as most people said in the TV Tropes topic on this, "sometimes, it's just refreshing to see cookie-cutter stuff".
