Probably that's why they didn't release Kathy's cards IRL, too much confussion. Although they could get out with naming them "Kitten" or something.

Yeah...Well...All TCG "cats" are part of the archetype...so is Nekogal 2 and Cattnipped Kitty...Which are the ones that generate the akward thingy...But hey...They did rename Heroes into HEROes...and "Mechanical Spider" into "Karakuri Spider" after all...XD

But they'd have to rename so many cards or specifically designate which cards with "Cat" in their name aren't "Cats" or which ones dont have Cat in their name ARE Cats. They already have this confusion with certain Archfiends since they were never clarified on card text.

The only times they renamed cards like you mentioned is when they became an archetype later on (Frog the Jam not being a Frog, Oscillo Hero #2 IS a Watt, Mechanical Spider is a Karakuri)

That I know...the only non-cat cards to belong to the archetype are Catnipped Kitty and Nekogal 2

But then again...yeah people can complain that for example "Malevolent CATastrophe" is part of the archetype which it isn't...>_<

They'd have to make the archetype a word or term that is much easier to distinguish from random cards. This is why the HERO archetype was redone in all caps: to distinguish it from regular Hero monsters. Hundred Eyes Dragon was originally written with a hyphen, but that technically made it a (Hund)Red-eyes (Dragon) monster for Wyvern. It has since been errata'd to have no hyphen.
