So this is the first whole space seen I've made. I already think that there are two many stars in the bg, and they look too big and fake.
Other than that, tell me what else looks wrong. There's probably a lot, being my first picture in a long time. Oh, and there's a star shining through the far planet.

Lens flare is a big no-no. So is the half-transparent planet in the background.

Make stars by filling a black layer with monochromatic noise. Use Levels to play around with brightness and size. Repeat process on a new layer, except make the stars larger but less bright. Put the layer on Lighten or Screen. Forgot which.

Use the Clouds filter to make a layer full of clouds. Give it some colour with cyan, or green, or something else depending on the feel of the piece, and put it on Overlay or something.

Download some nebula pictures, then place them in carefully.

In general, it's just a bit empty.

@Cursed-
I cut out a huge part of it in the upper-right hand. It's not obvious, but if you look closer- you can see some clouds in the left side of the picture.

I got this by creating a 1000x1000. On that, I opened up Render > Clouds > Plasma. I Motion Blurred that and stretched the blur. I then desaturated it to get a dark plama.
Then, I opened up this picture. I went to Filters > Noise > Hurl, used randomize. Then, I desaturated it. Next, I edited the levels I think to about 200 or so. Finally, I sparkled it at about .15 for the Flare Intensity.
Then, I opened up my plasma layer and did something to it, I can't exactly remember. It was on the Layers drop-down box.
Then, I got this.
