To be honest, I have nothing against the Zero series.
Its a good challenge, its just... Unless you S-Rank a stage, they basically tell you to go kill yourself because you failed the stage, even though you rescued all the hostages and killed the boss, but they don't give you the EX Skill.

ITS A MEGAMAN GAME, DAMN IT! I'M SUPPOSED TO GET A SHINY NEW ABILITY FOR BEATING A STAGE-BOSS!

.....
I should replay Zero 4, cuz' I actually own the GBA version of it, and have played it for quite a bit.
Plus, it was the easiest of the Zero games, TBH.

I've never played any of the X games, are they all (sans Command Mission) just 2d sidescrollers?

I can't be 100% sure, but I think they all are. 7 or 8 may have been 3D though, I seem to remember a let's play of whichever introduced Axl being a bit more than side-scrolling. *is too lazy to look it up*

It's A-S...and from 2 on, they have 6 or 8 instant A-Rank Fusion Elves. Not that big of a deal. The abilities aren't all that impressive either, honestly. Of every one in 3 (since I've played it most recently), I'd say I only commonly used the skewer dash, 1000 Jab with the Recoil Rod, Rising Slash, and maybe the Sword Dive for boss-split runs. (ending every boss battle with a sword attack for the sliced-in-half animation)

What was cool about the "Zero" series is that once you killed a enemy with the sword oil would splatter as you cut them in half just as if it was real blood. But the US version sucked since they kinda removed that feature because americans a a bunch of bastards -_-

That's also the version that had sand traps spraying "red liquid" when you hit them...I once read a fanfic making fun of that. Zero was running through the desert area of MMZ1 slicing stuff up, and everything bled.

Chronoforce is a stingray.

and oh god Hedgeshock is fun as hell to play as.
Oh, and I'm right about to play [s]Wheel Gator[/s]Bifrost's stage.
Considering Bifrost has always had such an awesome stage, and is a personal favorite of mine in ZXA.
Maybe I should have played on Hard Mode, as I REALLY overestimated Normal Mode's difficulty.

Fixed that for you.

Zero is one of the most interesting non-Mega Man characters, imo, and up there with story development. He's also, iirc, the only hero/hero's ally to have his own sword. Can't argue with that. It doesn't hurt that he came along during the X series either.

Oh, no, I agree that Zero has the most development. The Zero series was wonderful, plot wise and gameplay wise.

That doesn't change the fact that Zero himself is overrated.

Zero is the Megaman version of Sephirofl. They're both awesome and mysterious and all that, but they are definitely not the best in their series/universe/whatever.

My favorite series wass Starforce, because killing people and watching people ragequit to my Crimson Dragon/AcidAceB was so much fun. Plus, the secret AcidAceBB and GraveJokerRR battles were awesome in that you were never prepared for them.

BN is my favorite, there's just so much emotion and development alongside action and humor. The mechanics such as the various forms in the game were cool, and I liked the battle system a lot.

EDIT: Mega Man Classic...
