Trying to find a book but can't remember name or author. Help?

Ok, so I read this book in fourth grade from the book mobile. A few years later, I'm trying to find it to read it. I can't remember name or author, only what its about. If someone knows the book, please reply. Here's what I know of it:

A guy named jack, College student, lives only with his dad. His mother had died previously. On going to his dorm by train, he hears a voice Coming from a door (Or Telephone, an old one. Can't remember which) opens door/ Answers phone to hear a girl's voice saying she needs help. HE replys he does too. He opens door and goes into the underworld, where they find cerberus. They walk amon gthe dead, saying that jack died in a train crash. They go through certain events until Jack sees his mom. He decides to talk to her and tries to persuade her into coming back with him. She refuses. HE understands, and leaves with the ghost girl. LAter on, they are on a boat, when the ghost police(?) find them and realize jack isn't dead. They chase them down, until jack sees an opening leading back to the real world. HE Doesn't think they'll make it, but the girl says she'll distract them, and says she'll make it back too. WHen jack wakes up, he is in the real world. He Can't find the Girl, so, he goes to find his dad. WHen he does, is dad said he was really worried. Jack goes for a walk, Then sees the girl swinging. He Smiles, and walks to her.

I don't know the girl's name. Please. help.
