Decoy Loop

Just summin i found browsing wiki people might know already but here we go:

* Using this card in conjunction with "Staunch Defender" will let you summon up to 4 Dragons.

The effect of "Staunch Defender" holds priority over the continuous effect of this card, therefore the attacking monster will attack "Decoy Dragon", you revive a Dragon from the grave and switch targets due to this card effect, but because "Staunch Defender" was activated, the attacking monster shifts attack target back to "Decoy Dragon".

This "mini-loop" continues on until you cannot summon anymore Dragons from your grave, or your side of the field is full. When this occurs, the battle continues as normal, and the attacking monster and "Decoy Dragon" finally battles each other.

Not quite sure how it works cause i dont know the exact effect of stauch defender and im too lazy to look it up. Anyway i would never use dragons

yhea what happens is when decoy summons the dragon the monster still attacks the summond dragon

but with staunch defender your opponents monsters MUST attack decoy

so if you have decoy and bait dragon

opponent attacks bait

actvate staunch

monsters attack decoy then attack summond card they get destroyed then if your opponents has more than 1 monster they MUST also attck decoy ^_^

I'm guessing you got this from the Wikia right?

I got this page translated from the Japanese wiki entry here, and apparently Staunch Defender's effect takes priority over Decoy's, so it'll go like this:

Your grave: 4 dragons

Your field: 1 Decoy Dragon

Your set spell/trap: 1 Staunch Defender

Opponent's field: 1 Vorse Raider (for example)

1. Opponent's Vorse Raider attacks your Decoy, you activate Staunch Defender and select Decoy Dragon as the target.

2. With Decoy's effect, you revive one Dragon in your grave. In normal case, the opponent's Vorse will end up attacking the revived Dragon instead of Decoy.

3. However, as Staunch Defender's effect takes priority over Decoy's redirecting effect, the opponent's Vorse Raider reselects Decoy as the attack target.

4. Decoy Dragon's effect takes place, and you revive your second Dragon (since Decoy Dragon's effect can be activated more than once a turn.)

5. This will continue on until you cannot revive anymore Dragons from your grave, or your field is full. Staunch Defender's effect will make the Vorse Raider attack your Decoy Dragon, it won't be able to activate its effect as you have no more Dragons you can revive, and the Vorse Raider will attack and destroy your Decoy Dragon.

So basically, your opponents monster bounces attack targets between Staunch Defending Decoy Dragon and the random Dragon revived by Decoy's effect, until Decoy's effect can no longer be triggered.

hmmmm...i dont think so..

maybe it goes by this way...

Your grave: 4 dragons

Your field: 1 Decoy Dragon

Your set spell/trap: 1 Staunch Defender

Opponent's field: 1 Vorse Raider (for example)

1. Opponent's Vorse Raider attacks your Decoy, you activate Staunch Defender and select Decoy Dragon as the target.

2. Then the Effect of Decoy Dragon will Chain with the Staunch Defender..

3.Then Resolving the Effect...1st effect will be resolve will be the Decoy Dragon.

and Special summon a Dragon monster from the Graveyard and atk it by Vorse Raider..

and Vorse Raider is already destroyed so it can't Atk the Decoy Dragon..

4. Then next come is the effect of Staunch Defender..no Dragon monster can be special summon bcoz Vorse Raider is in the Graveyard..But if ur Opponent has another monster, that monster must atk decoy dragon..so u can Special Summon another Dragon monster..but not many as u want..

Monsters cannot declare more than one attack per turn unless otherwise stated' date=' so to me this makes no sense. The attacks would simply stay on target.

[/quote']

If the number of monsters on the opponent's field change, you can redo declaring the attack and choose not to attack with the monster, but because Staunch Defender is active, he MUST attack Decoy Dragon. That was just changing the attack target, not attacking multiple times.

So, however it exactly works, its a good strategy.

EDIT: Oops, seems I'm wrong. According to Yugioh Wikia's Rulings, he does not cause a replay. Hm, wonder what would happen then...

i would perfer using 'Shift'..... due to the fact that it allows you to re-adjust targeting atk' date=' spell, and trap..........

[/quote']

Shift only lets you switch the target once, and that gets overridden by Decoy's effect. You have to use Staunch Defender because Staunch Defender allows your opponent to ONLY choose Decoy as an Attack Target.

What happens then is the opponent is forced to attack Decoy, which triggers the effect to Special Summon a Level 7+ Dragon monster. Decoy's next effects to force the opponent to attack the Special Summoned monster activates. However, because of the effect of Staunch Defender, the opponent is forced to attack Decoy again. This repeats until Decoy's first effect can no longer activate, which would occur when you either run out of Targets to Special Summon from your Graveyard, or you run out of empty Monster Card Zones.
