Shock ran through Mako like an electric current. "Y-y-you're a-a... n-number h-h-hunter!" He stammered. But then he seemed to... get more focused in a way. He narrowed his eyes, clenched his fists, and grimaced.
"Well I think it's about time the hunter... got hunted!" He yelled. "I draw!"
Mako smiled. *Just what I needed...*
"I activate my Pot of Avarice! I can return Thunderbird, Soldier, Birdman, and Winged Rhynos to my deck, not to mention Thunder Hawk to my extra deck! Now, I draw two cards," Mako was excited now. He was convinced he could rebound from his bad position.
"I'll normal summon Mist Valley Shaman, and set one card. I end my turn," Mako smirked.

The mysterious woman smiled a devilish smile as her Library and her Monk turned into two beams of light, one golden, the other purple. A galaxy-shaped portal opened up in front of the sorceress, and the beams of light curved to enter the portal. "I will create an Overlay network with these 2 monsters! Xyz Summon! Come, the magical witch who trumped even the great Endymion, Number 13: Spell Power Thief Siruzi!"

Number 13: Spell Power Thief Siruzi
DARK/Spellcaster/Xyz/RNK 4/1900 ATK/600 DEF
2 Level 4 monsters
This card can only be destroyed by battle with another "Number" monster. This monster gains 100 ATK for each Spell Counter on the field. When this monster is Xyz Summoned: place 3 Spell Counters on this card. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this monster; Place up to 3 Spell Counters on a face-up card(s) on your side of the field.

Out of the portal appeared a battered purple witch's hat with several crooks in the long stem. After a few seconds of floating, a glowing purple "13" appeared on the hand of the mysterious woman, and a pair of pale legs with purple and pink stockings with knee-high purple leather boots apopped out of the hat. They turned and pushed on the rim of the hat, and comically, a woman popped out, the other of the legs. The sotckings ended where some black jean shorts began, which had some golden belts with various pouches above them. Above that was a pale midriff, then a short purple leather jacket decorated with various trinkets, but tight enough to show the bust of the owner. On either side of the jacket were fringes that suggested missing sleeves, and shortly after the shoulders ended, more of the purple and pink-stripes ran down the arms of the body to end as long gloves, and the head of the woman was also pale, but had long pink hair that was frayed and wiled above a black and golden-embroidered cat-like mask, like you would see at a fancy masquerade, with purple eyes underneath. The witch then turned to pull a purple staff with a glowing purple crystal in the center of one end, and placed her hat back on her head, which now had a golden "13" on one side. The witch, Siruzi, twilred her staff and posed, now ready for combat, while two orbs swirled around her. (1900 ATK|RNK 4|XM: 2)
"Now, the effect of my Number activates, giving her 3 Spell Counters, and increasing her ATK for each Spell Counter on the field, so she gains 600 ATK." To represent this, Siruzi's hat rumbled, which she looked inside, only for 3 stones to fly out of the hat and almost hit her in the face, but enter her staff instead, the crystal of which glowed even more brightly. (1900 ATK -> 2500 ATK)
"I will simply set a card, then end my turn."

Maverick was too busy on his laptop computer to pay attention to Neo's words, trying to find where Alicia could've cowered her way off to. After countless internet searches with differing keywords each time, all he could find on the subject of Number Hunters was this strange website that was talking about a revelation or something along those lines.

"Let's see here..." Maverick muttered to himself as he read on, "Yada yada yada, together we can do all of that, yada yada yada, time to strike is now, yada yada, yada... wait, who the f***'s this... Katy or whatever her name's supposed to be?"
"So...sounds like people are brainwashed by this Katy person." Neo said pulling out his laptop and then turned it on, plugging the USB cord into the internet cable socket. He quickly began to type a keyword on the search engine: Photon. Then appeared on his laptop screen, the Photon Archetype card images. "Guys over here...I got a few Photon cards here. See look, these all correspond with that Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon." Neo said looking at a few of the card images that were given. But to think that a duelist of a high caliber and with this deck was brainwashed by these Number Hunters... he thought, leaning back in his chair.

Kyra raised a quizzical eyebrow as the Number monster was summoned, any threatening aura it would’ve created being immediately squashed by the cartoony way it formed itself.

“Well, we’ll see how far that thing gets you,” she said, drawing a card to start her own turn “I’ll start by placing one card face down and summoning Celestial Shinobi in attack mode!”

A young female warrior wearing Hollywood style ninja clothes emerged alongside Kyra wielding a dagger in each hand.

“Next I play my Shinobi’s effect,” Kyra stated “Once per turn I can destroy 1 face-down card I control and draw 1 card from my deck.”

The shinobi back-flipped through the air, tossing one of its daggers towards Kyra’s face down card and slicing it in two, leading Kyra to draw a new card from her deck. The pieces of the card vanished and a thick fog began to spew from where it had been, forming a ring around Kyra’s D-Wheel. From within the fog a grotesque golden statue emerged and the fog cleared away.

“The card I destroyed was Statue of the Wicked,” Kyra explained “And when it’s destroyed I get to summon a Wicked Token to my field. Next I play the spell Double Summon, allowing me to make a second normal summon this turn, so I offer up my Wicked Token and Celestial Shinobi as tribute in order to summon forth my Celestial Knight of Chaos!”

Both of Kyra’s monsters where transformed into orbs of light which merged together and froze over, forming an icy cocoon which began to crack and finally broke open to reveal a much older ninja with long dark hair and an icy expression on her face.

Time to fight fire with fire, Kyra thought.

“I activate the spell card Xyz Plant!” Kyra declared “By selecting a monster on my field this card is treated as a monster with the same level as the one I selected.”

A larger hologram of the card Kyra played appeared next to her which quickly transformed into an identical image to her Celestial Knight of Chaos. Both of Kyra’s monsters became identical masses of purple energy which flew up into the air and came together, opening up a portal in the sky as they did so.

“I overlay Xyz Plant and Celestial Knight of Chaos and with these two monsters I construct the overlay network,” Kyra recited “I shall now show you the true meaning of power! Behold Number 11: Big Eye!”

A display of red energy emerged from the overlay network, twisting about itself before beginning to take a solid form finally appearing as a giant upside-down silver cone with a yellow ring floating around it, a number 11 set into its ring, two orbs of energy orbiting around it. A rectangular hole opened up at the head of the creature, revealing a giant orange eye. A glowing number 11 formed on Kyra’s forehead, shifting her fringe apart slightly as it did so.

“Your mediocre tactics have not impressed me,” Kyra said “And now you shall suffer for it, Temptation Glance!”

One of the energy orbs orbiting Big Eye was absorbed into its ring and its gaze immediately zoned in on Number 13, emitting a purple glow which then surrounded the monster.

“Once per turn I can remove one of Big Eye’s overlay units and take control of a monster you own,” Kyra explained, taking Celestial Knight of Chaos out from under Big Eye “Meaning your Number now belongs to me!”

The mysterious woman was rather impressed, as her Exemplar now had 7 Spell Counters, giving Siruzi an additional 400 ATK, but she was sad to see Siruzi go. Her monster tried to resist the effect, and turned back to her mistress. The woman reached out her hand to her Number, and they grasped hands for a few seconds. From the angle Kyra was riding, it seemed like her formerly cold opponent was giving her Numbers Monster a look that told Siruzi that everything would be alright, and they then let go, Siruzi being dragged over to Kyra's side of the field. She hung her head as she took her place next to Kyra, her eyes vacant and emotionless, and her expression blank.

Kyra couldn’t help but give a satisfied smirk as her move was successful and Siruzi was taken to her side of the field.

“You get off easy this time, though,” she said, a hint of disappointment evident in her voice “Big Eye is unable to attack on the turn it uses its effect, so you won’t be taking nearly as much damage this turn, however that doesn’t mean you can relax. Big Eye, command your servant to attack Magical Exemplar!”

Big Eye’s iris pulsated slight and Siruzi was forced to raise her weapons and attack Magical Exemplar.

The woman didn't seem too upset about the attack, though Siruzi was crying over having to attack one of her comrades, as she flipped up her face-down. "I activate the Quick-Play Spell Card Command Silencer." Magical Exemplar gained 2 additional Spell Counters as a huge totem pole erupted from the ground, blocking Siruzi's attack.
Afterwards, Siruzi turned to Kyra and exclaimed. "I hate you, you big meanie face! Give me back to my Mistress NOW! She loves me and you don't, so you're all mean and nasty with this big stupid eyeball that keeps moving me around like a puppet!" She sobbed some more. "Please give me back!!!"

Kinzo would rub his chin, his face turning grim. "Oh..." Kinzo sighed and then sobbed lightly. Had he somehow forgotten what was happening all over? "I didn't want to believe it at first...but it must be the reason why my dad had dissapeared. My grandfather had just recently passed away, and passed ownership of the store down to me, but giving the current state of the world, perhaps my time is nearly up as well." Kinzo sighed once more, his face stricken with grief and his eyes almost full of tears. He lent hard against his crutch and rubbed his eyes with his arms. "A-anyway.." He said, rubbing the tears away. "If your going to try to do anything, i would like to do what ever i can to assist you. You've saved me once, i owe you alot. Of course...if you say no i understand. In my current state, i may just be a hinderince..." Kinzo looked at Jakob, his eyes fulled with optimism but, a strange sense of sadness and determination. One could get mixed feelings from Kinzo right now.

Kyra was taken aback by the monster’s sudden outburst at her and even more noticeably so than before, causing her to hesitate slightly as she began to finish up her turn. She straightened her expression out, a hint of annoyance clearly visible as she attempted to ignore the monster yelling at her.

Is this more of these dumb tricks? She thought angrily I’ve had just about enough of these.

“I’ll set one card down and end my turn,” she said curtly, taking another card from her hand and inserting it into the appropriate slot on her duel disk “And cut out these dumb tricks of yours, they don’t impress me.”

The woman smirked and asked Kyra. "What? Have you never seen a Duel Monster talk and interact with you before? Or is your Big Eye so stupid that it can't tell you how it is feeling?"
Siruzi decided to try something else. "I'm sorry for acting like a little girl. I'll be mature. Could you please give me back to my Mistress? I'm sure she misses me ever so much. Her field looks so empty and lonely without me." For a second, it seemed like the normally-passive Exemplar had stuck out her tongue at Siruzi, but the green-clad mage had gone back to normal. "So could you PLEASE give control of me back to my Mistress?" Siruzi pleaded. "PUHLEEAZE pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease?!?"

Kyra was growing visibly more and more irritated by Siruzi's pleading and nagging, despite her best attempts to ignore it.

"Be silent!" She snapped, glaring visciously at the offending monster "You belong to me now and you will do as you are told, and that means-."

She cut herself off mid-sentence and looked away from the monster, grimacing in rage.

Great, these stupid tricks are starting to get the better of me, she thought, glaring over at her opponent once more.

"Just take your turn and stop fooling around," she growled "Are you so poor a duellist you have to resort to cheap trickery and mind games to try and beat me, or do you actually have some semlence of skill?"

'Okay, now I overlay my two level four monsters to Xyz summon Zero Force Hired Muscle' Silas commented, still going on with his mock duels.

He stacked the two cards and placed the Xyz monster on top; Silas bit his lip as he looked over the card. 'These Xyz are certainly mysterious, they came down as meteors and formed into cards of my own archtype. They even mutated some of my other cards and made them much more useable. The question is, where did they come from and why here?' he thought, but then remembered a newspaper article on the Xyz.

Riffling through his desk, he found a scrapbook containing important things he collected for his study on the attacks. Flipping back several pages, he came to the article on Numero's dissapearance. Scanning through, the most perplexing thing was that Numero, according to the camera systems, had been using his Number to create an Overlay Network.

'Overlaying an Xyz monster, moreover a Number card. Very strange, as Xyz don't have levels, they can't be used to overlay. But it was a Number card... They are very strange cards, 100 in all, all very different, yet they all share the inability to be destoryed by anything other than another number. And when the battle is over, the winner takes the loser's Numbers. Very strange indeed; and with Dr. Numero deceased, there is another who can help me, Numero's son'.

Resolute in his choice, Silas collected his cards and formed his deck. Grabbing his duel disk from under his bed and placing his deck into the slot, he was ready. But not after attaching his extra deck to his belt; never leave home without it, except for one card.

He said goodbye to his parensts before leaving his house in order to seek out James Numero.

James had been silent throughout this. "We aren't getting anywhere with this. All we know is that we have more competition. Obviously we need to find more Number Holders before A, They are 'hunted or B, they are destroyed. We need to act not sit here pondering about who they might be, or what they might be doing. We need cold hard evidence and frankly, we aren't getting any! We need more Number Holders or we don't stand a chance! You've both heard what my dad has said!"
With that, James stalked off, angry at his friends and feeling so incapable of doing anything. "Why me?!"
He took out his Utopia and threw it at the floor in frustration. "Why did you do this to me dad?!" He bent down, cradling his knees and cried, long and hard.

OOC: You don't have any facedown traps... do you... I hope not... anyway, I can edit this post in any way if I need to!

"WELL TOO BAD, YOU NUMBER HUNTER SCUM!" Mako spat loudly. "I'LL CHAIN MY TARGETED FACEDOWN TRAP, COMPULSORY EVACUATION DEVICE!!! FAREWELL, HOLYCIRAPTOR!!!" Mako screamed, red faced and sweating. His trap opened up with a burst of energy, before the strange typhoon could destroy it. In a huge burst, Number 83 was blown back into Kira's extra deck. The typhoon finally reached the trap, but even as it shattered to pieces it was too late. The wind and debris cleared slowly, and the only monster left on the field was Mist Valley Shaman.

"End?" Mako said softly.

With that, he packed up and headed out... just in time to see the crowd ooh and ah about something. He barely saw anything himself, but definitely heard the words 'number hunter scum' coming out from Mako.

'Wait, that guy's fighting a Number Hunter?' Maverick asked himself in thought, 'Why didn't anyone call Sector Security or something? I better get the guys back here; that Number Hunter could be of use.'

"I hasn't eesen yewsssed my Normal Ssssssummon yet!" Kira spat, "I ssssssummon Jurrac Selo and has it attack right now!"

Jacob shook his head. "You can come; it's no trouble at all. Besides, with things the way they are, traveling alone feels risky, even if I'm obligated to try to do something to help those around me." He sighed, gazing around the street. The city had once been warm and comfortable, but these days, everyone seemed afraid or worried, wondering if they would be next to make the papers under disappearances or deaths.

These sort of things should be on the youth's mind, but all he could think about was how he'd feel if he lived and did nothing. It wasn't a good thought.

A very odd change had come over Mako. He didn't even flinch as Jurrac Velo decimated Mist Valley Shaman, raking it with firey claws.

Mako's LP: 2800 --> 2300

"I'll give it to you hunter, this has been one of the best duels I've ever had. The advantage has shifted back and forth, hasn't it?" Mako grimaced.
"But I can't keep doing this. My luck is bound to run out soon. I've had no hand for a while now, and my field keeps getting cleared. This just can't go on,"

Mako sighed, grim and dejected. "I thought I could really bounce back this time... but I suppose not. Do you end your turn?"

OOC: Should I just give up in a way? Or draw something cheap? Your call, much better RPer :P

She sighed, trying not to think of her past. Every time she'd try to forget about it and move on, it only became clearer and clearer, until it would eventually became a live nightmare. She only had luck that this wasn't happening right now.

"Sssssspeaking os whisss... I end," she declared.

Celestia snickered softly. "Yes, I would like to come. Humans are group creatures more often than not, so even if we find that particular one, he may have others for me to play around with."

For the most part, she paid Salaginto's comments little attention. She enjoyed flattery as much as the next girl, but she didn't know his motive for it. Of course, while she worked out what it could mean (and she had plenty of time to consider it, since it was done frequently), it was maybe something to exploit, once she found a means how to. It may just be a factor of his personality.

Mako slowly drew a card. *Mist Valley Falcon...* He thought.
"Well, I suppose that's it. Unless I survive next turn, and draw the exact card I need, it's over." He smiled. "It's been nice dueling you, reluctant hunter scum. But it seems you've got the better of me. Despite all my luck... you've been able to crush me over and over again. There may be some tiny sliver of hope for me, but" *sigh* "probably not. I'll normal summon Mist Valley Falcon." He said. The same winged warrior he had used quite a few times before was solemnly summoned, it's eyes closed in ponderance. He took a deep breath, and let it out. This duel had seemed to tire him out. All of his childish energy was gone. "And I'll end."
