Yu-Gi-Oh! Invasion of the Clear Brigade - Arc 1: Hunt for the "Numbers" [IC: Started/Currently Accepting]

Gishilodon paused as Photon Breaker's size increased, and that hesitation seemed to be enough for the latter to attack, and then both monsters shattered apart, leaving the field clean of monsters except for the newly Set monster. Natalie frowned slightly, but otherwise seemed undaunted by the counter.

"Very well, it's my turn," she stated, drawing a card and glancing at it. A light smirk played at the corners of her mouth. "I Summon Mother Grizzly!" A growling bear with blue-black fur appeared, snarling. (Lvl 4, 1400/1000) "Mother Grizzly, attack his facedown monster!" she ordered. The bear brandished its claws and pounced upon Kai's Set monster.

Jayce picked up his duel disk and watched Kyokari leave. "Doesn't even say goodbye...hmph." He grinned. "But who gives a s*** anyway. Let the fun begin!" He walked out of the room and down the hall. He took the first left, and came to another door. He went through into a garage. He walked over to a plain black motorcycle. He jumped on, revved the engine, and rocket out the automatically opening doors. As soon as he was out, he pressed a button to activate the cycle's computer. "Show me the fastest route to Heartland High. Project." He activated his D-Gazer, and a blue path appeared on the road, directing him. He smiled again. "Finally getting to field test Graam...this is gonna be fun."

[Premier Alexander Romanov]

However, behind Jayce, a red and silver motorcycle with a similarly clad duelist appeared. The cyclist was a woman, but with a slim figure that her form-fitting semi-armored bodysuit clung to. She had a bubble-like helmet that was polarized, preventing him from seeing the rider. The rider pulled up alongside him, and requested a duel through their systems. Oddly enough, she didn't have any registry on the network, and no name attached to her or the motorcycle. In fact, the license the motorcycle possessed wasn't in any databases. But this mysterious woman wanted a duel regardless.

[Brinolovania]

Jacye glanced over at the woman. "I have things to do...but whatever, I'll beat you quickly. I want to get there fast, so let's make things interesting and duel on motorcycles. Won't that be fun!" He grinned. [i]This will be good, I suppose. Might as well test Graam a bit before I get into the real stuff.[/i] "Duel Disk, set!" He quickly slapped his Disk onto his left arm, and the card zones opened up. "I'll just draw my starting hand..." He drew 5 cards from his deck. Then, he turned to the woman. "Ladies first. Go ahead!"

The mysterious woman drew 5 cards from her deck, than an additional card. She sets a card, then summons a monster, a huge glowing robotic soldier with a giant double-ended staff. (2000 ATK|LV4) She then ends her turn.

Meanwhile, back at the school, Delilah continued to watch the duel, while Judith, the motorcycle parked nearby, had left. To any onlookers, a woman in red and silver clothing had come up to the motorcycle and drove off, though none of the people who did witness the event would be able to describe the woman's face...

[Dementuo]

The monster flipped up, revealing a knight with glowing white armour and a white-golden sword. It had a grey, silvery shield raised. (DEF: 800) Unfortunately, the knight's shield was swatted away by the attacking bear, and the knight shattered. "My Photon Guardna. His effect works a bit like your Mother Grizzly. When he's destroyed through battle, I can toss a level 4 or lower Photon monster from me deck into my grave to Special Summon another one of the same name from my deck. I'll send one Photon Sabre Tiger to call out another one." Kai explained as a large, blue tiger with saber-teeth emerged where the knight had been. (ATK: 2000) "Photon Sabre Tiger loses 800 ATK while another one does not exist on my field." Kai noted. (ATK: 2000 --> 1200) "Everything's set for its' arrival, and now I have the option of an Xyz summon as well... We'll see what she does." Kai thought.

"Interesting," Natalie mused, taking a moment to consider the options before her. "I'll end my Turn," she announced finally, smirking faintly. Right now, she had the advantage, as he had only one card in his hand, and a monster that was weaker than hers due to its reliance on another copy of itself on the field. There was no more she could really do during this round without risking the stability of her duel. If she rushed ahead in her desire to claim his Number, she could sacrifice her critical resources at the wrong time.

"Don't do something stupid, Nat! You only just started!" Souta yelled from the sidelines at Natilie, even though he didn't even have a D-Gazer on. He put his hands behind his head, wondering why today of all days, he had forgotten to bring his deck and D-gazer. Sighing slightly to himself, he turned to Setsuna. "Hey Setsuna, would'ja mind it if I borrowed your D-Gazer for a little bit, I want to at least SEE what's going on in this duel." Souta waited silently and humbly for his friends response.

[Brinolovania]

Jayce sighed. "You could at least talk, lady. Seriously, it feels all awkward for you to be playing cards without dramatic narration. But whatever. My turn, draw!" He grabbed another card from his deck. [i]Hm...a strong monster there...with cards to protect it...interesting.[/i] "Since my opponent controls monsters and I don't, I can Special Summon Cyber Dragon!" A long, metallic dragon appeared. (ATK:2100) "I don't have a way to get rid of your traps at the moment...so I'll step into them! Cyber Dragon, attack! Evolution Burst!" A beam of light shot from the dragons mouth towards the woman's monster.

Meanwhile, in the shadow of the nearby vending machine, a mysterious teen watched intently at the two students duel. He took note of the youthfulness of one student, and the feral gleam of the other. Waiting, he stood to see the climax of the duel and to duel the winner. Briefly, he stared at his own Number. "Number 13: Darkness" and his Chaos Number: "Chaos Number 13: Overwhelming Darkness". He grinned evilly at the familiar pull of power from his Numbers. If anybody had seen him and asked if he was enrolled, he would've lied, saying his name was "Tokumei", which literally means "Anonymous" but if they looked in the registry, there would be no such person. A streak of lightning blue started to glow in his eye quickly diffusing his entire eye icy blue, enabling him to use it as a D-Gazer. Invisible tendrils linked his AR Vision to the duel.

[Dementuo]

"Alright. My turn, draw." Kai gave a heartfelt sigh when he looked at his drawn card. "I suppose it's about time you saw the ace of my deck, eh?" Kai said, shrugging. "During my Standby Phase, the effect of Photon Breaker revives the second Photon Sabre Tiger in my grave." he noted, as another saber-toothed, azure tiger sprung from the ground. (ATK: 2000) "Since I control another Sabre Tiger, my first one's power rises back to two thousand." (ATK: 1200 --> 2000)
[i]"What to do. I can either preform the Exceed Summon, and call out Leviath, or I can summon [b]that[/b] card... She didn't do anything else, but from her style, she wouldn't leave a monster, even a search card, out in the open... Or so it seems. She's expecting something... I'll just have to take the chance."[/i] Kai thought. [i]"It's settled, then."[/i]
"I overlay my two level 3 Photon Sabre Tigers!" Kai declared. The two tigers melded into two orb of yellow, and a galaxy-like portal opened up in front of Kai. The two orbs shot into the portal, being swallowed in it. A large blast of light was followed by a large, deep-blue sphere emerging, with six tendrils extending from it. "Ekuseedo Shoukan, Nanbasu Jyu-Nana, Rebaiso Doragon1 Number 17, Leviathan Dragon!" Kai shouted out, the ball folding out, a large dragon emerging with two orbs of light circling around it. The six tendrils extended flaps, which formed wings. The dragon gave a loud roar. (ATK: 2000)

Natalie's eyes widened at the dragon's appearance and a grin briefly flashed across her expression. [i]So it's appeared, your Number![/i] she thought to herself. She made no move towards her disk, clearly without any sort of response to the Summon. In fact, she probably wouldn't have done anything against it anyway. She always liked the opportunity to defeat an opponent's Number monster before claiming it; that way she could learn its powers firsthand.

"An impressive monster, but you gave up two monsters with the same ATK power as this one," she noted with a hint of disinterest. "I do hope you're not toying with me. I don't like that, you see."

The hidden teen smiles. "So, Number 17 has arrived. Well, well, well..." He smiles at the fact he would probably own it very soon. He whispers to himself: "Whoever wins shall face unending darkness and mere students won't stop me." He wonders who will win, for the female hadn't summoned a Numbers yet, if she owned one. The teen's hand starts to emanate a darkness, but instead of shining, it seemed to pull light into it like a black hole. A glob of darkness extends from his arm and makes a writhing mechanism which could not be identified yet. "Very soon, they shall face the overwhelming darkness of Kuroi!"

[Simping For Hina]

[i][color=#800000]"Heartland High: The search of the numbers begins here, I guess. Well, I should be able to apply as a normal student."[/color] [/i]Kyokari wondered as he walked up the steps of the entrance, trying to reach the front doors. With ease, he entered the school and wandered down until he was able to enter some class rooms that were empty. He entered the classrooms and got his deck to check over it. [color=#800000]"Head quarters, you sure you got my deck situated to fight the numbers? Okay." [/color]he asked via a headset to double check over his newly built deck that he had no idea how to use properly. [color=#800000][i]"Time to begin this hunt."[/i][/color]

The mysterious woman flipped up her Trap Card. A bright light surrounded the field, and when it cleared, her monster seemed to be charged by the power of the light. (2000 ATK -> 4100 ATK)
The woman revealed her Trap Card to be Lumenize, a interesting Trap Card that negated an attack on a LIGHT monster she controlled, like Photon Crusher, then powered up the ATK of the attacked LIGHT monster by the ATK of the attacker until her next End Phase.
She motioned for her opponent to continue and finish his turn so she may start her own.

Kaminari, who was casually watching the duel, turned in great interest to Kai as he shouted out the name of a monster he summoned. "[i]Numbers...![/i]" Kaminari thought, his thought trailing away into his head. Although he couldn't see it due to not having a D-Gazer equipped there was no mistaking the mysterious presence that the summoned Numbers monster had brought with it. [i]"Who would have thought...that new kid came along with a Numbers card..." [/i]Kaminari's face was filled with both a deep pain and resentment, he couldn't stop staring at Kai's face for a few moments, as if he was locking Kai's facial appearance into his mind; but he quickly turned away. His hands were clenched so tight that he was beginning to sweat.

Kaminari quickly exited the scene, dissapearing from the area where the two duelists were battling it out. He needed to get somewhere to calmly collect his thoughts.

Staring at the Duel, Setsuna's eyes widened as Kai Xyz Summoned Leviathan Dragon. Taking his D-Gazer off, he held it out to Souta and stared at the spot it was before hand. He had clearly just said "Number" before saying its real name. Looking at Kai, he was shocked to know he had one as well. Opening the deck box on his side, he quickly pulled his own Number out. "Number 07: Phoenix Dragon..." He mumbled as he stared at the card. Putting the card away, he glanced over to Natalie. Oddly enough, she seemed almost excited to see that monster be summoned. That seemed so weird, knowing she only seemed excited when she was about to succeed at something. Blushing lightly, he couldn't help but sigh as a certain thought crossed his mind. Shaking his head, he looked at where the duel was occurring and slowly began to realize something. "Duels look a tad weird without D-Gazers," He said bluntly as he continued watching, unable to see anything.

[Agro]

"Holy..." Souta leaned back to take the giant beast in. "Setsuna, you seein' this?" He quickly glanced over to his friend who's D-gazer he was borrowing. "Oh, right." Souta stared back at the beast. "What the hell is that, Kenta?" The question was left to hang in the air for Kenta to snatch it up, Souta was more interested in the beaming eyes of Natalie. Since when had she ever been this happy to see a giant monster rise up on the field against her. From what Souta could remember, she at least showed some nervousness when a monster like that came along. But, for some reason, she seemed like she'd discovered something. And that look in her eyes. Souta was starting to think that if her eyes had mouths they would lick their own chops. "Are you alright, Natalie?" He said it loudly so she could hear it above the roar of the holograms, using her full name, something he hardly ever did. "Natalie?"

[Zextra]

"Hmm...didn't expect that...Kai's usually one to show off that other one" Kenta muttered as he watched Leviathan Dragon's summoning. "And that's one of Kai's recently obtained cards - he got it shortly after arriving here through some unknown means. Number 17: Leviathan Dragon..." he answered as he briefly turned back to Souta. "But why he did that, i don't even know" Kenta thought as he turned towards Natalie - his eyes widened as he saw her facial expression change slightly in response to Kai's new monster. "And now the question remains - what is so special about that card? Kai and I have tried to find out, but to no avail...as of yet" he continued to himself as he turned back to the field.

Turning his head to Kenta, Setsuna's eyes widened. Kai had just recently gotten that card? He had Number 07 in his possession for a few weeks now, but he didn't know where it came from. Thinking back to when he had first Xyz Summoned Number 07, he clearly could recall the 07 being on the shoulder of the dragon. That Leviathan Dragon had the same markings on it, but on the left horn. Number 17's effect probably was much different than 07's, but knowing how 07 was essentially a one time Bottomless Trap Hole for either player, he could only assume Number 17's effect was just as frightening! "Natalie...seems really happy about seeing that dragon," He said as he looked at Souta. It was weird to see her like this, but for some reason, he saw it as somewhat of an improvement.

"I'm perfectly fine," Natalie replied, allowing a moment to glance in Souta's direction. "It's an interesting monster, and one I must admit I've never seen before. But for now it seems unimpressive for an ace monster in a deck that can easily produce monsters with 2000 ATK."

Even as she said this, she was having difficulty hiding the glint in her eyes as she examined the six-winged dragon. [i]Number 17...show me your powers...I wouldn't mind another Rank 3 Number in my deck[/i], she mused to herself.

"Well? Go on, it's still your turn. I have no response," she reminded Kai, knowing full well he hadn't forgotten, but a hint of impatience was working its way into her. Now that the Number had appeared, she was all the more eager to defeat him as swiftly as possible so that she could claim it for her own.

[Agro]

"Yeah, she's fine," Shouta chided with Setsuna as he heard Natalie's response. Even so, souta took one last look at Natalie before he was satisfied that nothing was wrong with her. Though he couldn't shake the feeling that she was hiding something. Taking in the beast before them one last time as well before finally handing the D-Gazer back to it's owner, Setsuna. "And Kenta, that card's called a Number card, they'r real famous around these parts, legendary almost. They're supposed to be [i]really[/i] powerful."

[Dementuo]

"Heh, impatient? Don't worry, don't worry." Kai chuckled a bit, slipping one of the overlaid units out from under the card. "Leviathan Dragon's effect. Each turn, it consumes an overlay unit to boost itself by 500 Attack." he continued. As the two lights surrounded the dragon, one of them passed by its' mouth. The dragon immediately chomped down on the small orb, swallowing it whole. A short moment later, a faint blue aura enveloped the dragon as it gave another, more forceful roar. (ATK: 2000 --> 2500) "Now, I'll set a card and end my turn." Kai finished. "I mean, why give you a free monster?"

"So be it. My turn!" Natalie said, a bit more coldly than before. So far, his Number wasn't that impressive. Granted, being able to boost its ATK by 500 could be dangerous since the boost was evidently permanent, but she had something better in mind. She glanced at the card she drew and smirked.

"I activate the Spell Card: Salvage!" she announced. "This allows me to recover 2 Water monsters from my Graveyard with 1500 ATK or less. I only have 2 that fit the criteria: Deep Sea Diva and Lost Blue Breaker!" The graveyard slot shimmered and she removed the two monsters, displaying them momentarily before placing them into her hand.

[i]A Number cannot be defeated except by another Number[/i], she reminded herself.

"I next activate Moray of Greed!" Natalie continued. "By returning 2 Water monster from my hand to my Deck, I can draw 3 cards. I return Lost Blue Breaker and Drill Barnacle to the deck..." she flashed the two monsters at Kai before slipping the cards into the deck slot, the shuffler kicking in a moment later. "And now I draw 3 cards!" she flicked the cards before her eyes, admiring the new hand.

"I Normal Summon Deep Sea Diva!" she announced, and the sea serpent creature appeared, letting out a melodious shriek. (Lvl 2 Tuner, 200/400) "When this card is Summoned, I can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or below Sea Serpent from my Deck, and I choose Spined Gillman!" In a flash of light, a pike-wielding fish-like monster appeared. (Lvl 3, 1300/0)

"Because I Successfully Summoned a Sea Serpent monster, I can Special Summon Shark Sucker from my hand!" Natalie added, slapping the card onto the field. A small shark-like monster rose from the ground, doing an aerial flip before settling in front of her. (Lvl 3, 200/1000) "And while Gillman is on the field, Aqua, Fish, and Sea Serpents gain 400 ATK, but that's currently irrelevent."

"First, I tune my Level 2 Diva with my Level 4 Mother Grizzly!" Natalie announced. The diva rose into the air, bursting into 2 green rings that encircled the bear monster, which in turn faded away until 4 glowing stars remained, aligned within the rings. A beam of light fired through the stars. "Synchro Summon! Your chance to shine, Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier!"

The monster roared, baring its saber-like teeth, its tiger body clothed with an intricate yellow and blue design. (Lvl 6, 2000/1400)

"But that's nothing!" Natalie continued, gesturing to her remaining two monsters. Her slight smirk was gradually increasing.

"I Overlay my Level 3 Spined Gillman and Shark Sucker!" she announced, the two monsters condensing into spheres of light that entwined in the air. A galaxy-like portal appeared, drawing the spheres inside, and then exploded outwards. Natalie's expression grew into a full grin. "Xyz Summon! Number 30! Your cursed power will destroy my foe! Acid Golem of Destruction!"

A large spiked rock appeared, shaped somewhat like an atom, with two glowing orbs orbiting it. From there, the monster folded outwards, some spikes becoming legs and arms, and the monster's main body appearing. Then it stood upright, its yellow eyes glaring into Kai, drooling purple acid. Its hands had exhaust pipes as claws, each giving off copious fumes. A large number "30" was imprinted upon its right leg, matching the font of the "17" upon the opposing monster's horn. (Rank 3, 3000/3000)

Kuroi's black and lightning blue eye widened at the new Number's arrival. "Cursed power? Hmm..." He thought they both played excellently but he thought, as compared to him, they were just smudges on the wall of dueling history. He wondered at Number 30's power. Kuroi smirked at the thought of owning both Numbers. He wondered "Would the so-called curse affect who wins?" His hand trembled at the idea of plunging his hand into another's soul and extracting it and crushing it to retrieve the Number within. He also thought of the added bonus of having souls to empower him and smirked. The day a mere student defeats him would be the day of never. He couldn't wait to crush either duelist. Preferably both to collect both Numbers.
