Max Darkness
I've showcased various parts of this set before, but after refreshing them and adding them to the whole set, the design is complete. In simple terms, this is designed to get Geminis up to the speed and strength of modern Decks by giving them a huge number more members, Special Summoning options, and easier (and less costly) ways to gain their effects. Alongside the new "Phoenix", "Elven", "Vulcan" and "Autumn" archetypes come a selection of new trump cards, either able to act as Geminis and gain additional effects, or that are Geminis themselves, giving access to much more power with much more speed. Also, with some abusing the Gemini rulings regarding the Graveyard, their effects cannot be stopped by any card currently in circulation! All have been written using my newest Hybrid OCG, which leaves out the standard Gemini ruling 'This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field and in the Graveyard. You can Normal Summon this card: It is treated as an Effect Monster, and gains the following effect: ...' due to the fact that since all Geminis carry it, it should be taken as read for all of them. Also, the effects that begin on a new line are the monster's Gemini Effect, anything before usually are Summon effects, or effects that trigger while it is in your hand or Deck (where it is still treated as an Effect Monster). Enjoy. ragnarok1945
Volcanic Burst is a bit too plain, kind of expected more than just a summoning effect Same goes with Solar Constellation but beyond that the effects are fine, so you get 9,8/
Max Darkness
Volcanic Burst is a bit too plain, kind of expected more than just a summoning effect Same goes with Solar Constellation but beyond that the effects are fine, so you get 9,8/10
'Volcanic Burst' is a counterpart to 'Photon Lead' while 'Solar Constellation' is a simple, but needed effect (to recover 'BTH'-ed and 'D.Prison'-ed Geminis). So, just 1 question, on all of them that are like this, do you need to summon it again to get their effects, assuming that the gemini lore still stands as it is? If so, then this is decent card and love the art as usual... Effect: You can discard this card: Add 1 Level 4 or lower FIRE Gemini Monster from your Deck to your hand. I'm going to assume that you have to Normal Summon them to get their effects.. If I was you, I'd add just a tad bit more attack, even if this a set, I see the need this might be just tad weak, b/c you have to Summon it once, then yet again to get an effect to Special Summon.......I understand a lot of cards might help it, but maybe make it 1350 or 1400, just my opinion...or1330 to mimic a card that actually exists with a "30" in it, I love cards that have the oddball numbers at the end, makes people mad, especially when you use shrink....The art looks like an Pokemon, sorry, but it really is so close to one, like an involved cyndaquil, but I could be wrong, but it still looks like a pokemon.... Effect: When a FIRE Gemini Monster is destroyed by a card effect: You can activate this card's effect as the highest Chain Link; Special Summon this card (from your Graveyard). Max Darkness
Searing Hellhound: So, just 1 question, on all of them that are like this, do you need to summon it again to get their effects, assuming that the gemini lore still stands as it is? If so, then this is decent card and love the art as usual...
Because the upper half of the effect triggers in the Graveyard, it comes before the Gemini effect, so does not need to be Gemini Summoned to activate (as in, it has that like a standard Effect Monster). The burn effect is what needs to be unlocked. Also, because Geminis are treated as Normals while in the Graveyard, no Effect Monster negation card can stop it. For reference, place the standard Gemini lore 'This card is treated as a Normal Monster...' in the space between the first and second halves of the effect (ie in place of the new line).
Solaris Chara: I'm going to assume that you have to Normal Summon them to get their effects.. As for the second, longer effect, that does need to be unlocked. Because I saw this as more a searcher than anything else, I did give it a somewhat redundant effect (it's not that useful). It's also there to be used as Fusion or Synchro fodder, over a field-presence card. I may up it's ATK slightly, to make it a low-Level buffer. As for the art, the caption underneath it (on Devaintart) didn't say anything about it being a Fakemon, so I guess it's just a co-incidence.
Ember Dragon: This is fine, I like it, good advantage in the set, as these are FIRE gemini's...
Since you raise this point again later, the reason so many of them are FIRE (and indeed Spellcasters and Warriors) is to give them access to the vast amounts of support avaliable to that Attribute and those Types. Considering that when they were first released in TAEV, they had Sea Serpents, Insects, Pyros, Rocks and Aquas, they were very undersupported, as those Types have little support. They also spanned the Attributes (mostly FIRE, WATER, WIND and EARTH), with no unifying factor. And when their trump card 'Superalloy Beast Raptinus' was revealed, it was a LIGHT Dragon. When SDWS was released, they finally got a little bit of unity from 'Evocator Chevalier's' and 'Phoenix Gearfried's' FIRE Attribute and Warrior Typing, allowing them to use the support and ATK-boosting cards avaliable to them. In SOVR, 'Knight of the Red Lotus' and 'Black Brutdrago' were released, and both were FIRE monsters. As such, I decided to keep that theme going and make all my Geminis FIRE (with a couple of WINDs, because of 'Tuned Magician'), and base the support on that. The choice for Warrior and Spellcaster Typing was both because of the huge amount of support and because I had a large number of pictures avaliable to me that fitted those Types (Pixiv artists like them, and Dragons).
Phoenix Dragon: Picture in my opinion is a little cartoony realistic, as it were a scale model turned cartoonished out of some weird reason, its okay, but bleh IMO....Yea, a tuner, which makes it okay......It might be slightly op'd, but not so much to bother with the set rating, as it makes the set flow smoothly better....
I picked that picture because it looks like an old Japanese print. I thought it looked quite nice. As for the effect, its balance comes from the fact it has no way of Special Summoning itself. It either needs to be Normal Summoned twice, or Special Summoned and then Normal Summoned, all of which takes support, or existing field presence. Its high ATK for its Level also means it doesn't qualify for the low-ATK support Traps.
Phoenix Cherub: Art overused, sorry, but its okay.....Heh, really good strategy, I hope it works out....
I know it is overused art, but I made the original version back when I started on this site, and wanted to find a way to incorperate it. To further what I said about 'Ember Dragon', I chose Dragon and Fairy-Type for a majority of the 'Phoenix' archetype to exclude them from the support the standard FIRE Gemini Deck would use, and to allow them to mesh into a seperate strategy Deck, focussed more on the Summoning of 'Phoenix Gearfried' and the Level 7 'Phoenix Seraph'.
Phoenix Miko: Really Max, Really, good job for small effect....Really good gemini support, love it.....But now I am getting tired of fire support....lol
Thanks. And like I said, making them all FIRE allows them to become stronger through shared support.
Fervent Pyromancer: Well, I see nothing wrong with this one, its good as it and better then any card so far....
Excellent.
Witch of the Phoenix: More fire, ugh, jk, jk....If it were me, I'd make the effect twice per duel and 400 damage, and no more or less, but thats just my opinion.....
The difference with this one is that its Graveyard effect is part of the Gemini Effect, as in it must be unlocked to activate. You can't just throw this to the Graveyard and trigger it, you must have it gain its effect, and then get sent, or blown up. And while on the field, it will most likely be used a couple of times before being used for a Summon.
Dual Drain: As so far this set is a gemini set, I would actually add a discard or drawback of some sort to this, I know it might be balanced, but to me, as this is a set, this would make it way op'd IMO....Well, it don't have to be a dramatical drawback, just like an actiavation drawbakc, you activate it once by paying the cost, and your finished....
Its balance comes from the added resource-use of Gemini Summoning. The only way to get a full-on nuke of your opponent's monster effects is to use 'Unleash your Power!' (which has a horrible side-effect) or several Gemini-Summoning cards (so using up a well-stocked hand/field). So at most times, you'll have two or just one Gemini Summoned monster(s) on the field (possibly along with one or two Normal Geminis). And it is only a temporary effect, unlike a growing number of modern cards. Thanks for the in-depth review.
see with Fervant Pyromancer it's the same, just an effect siphoning effect, little more
Again, this set is meant to bring Geminis up to standard, so there will be boring (and less creative) cards in it, simply because they're designed to work everytime they're used. Master White
@Max: Well, they all still look great IMO, and anything I say op'd is my opinion and you wouldn't have to change anything, as others would probably fine it balanced, as I look forward to seeing the rest of these cards and seeing Konami making even more op'd cards, I'd like to note that we should try to stay away from konami's overpowered cards, hence why i state what I see, and my cards are probably all over powered to, but I'll change them if I finally get some reviews in to them..... But you are welcome and I figured i might give insight to some people, whether ignored or not..... P.S: Well, thank you for explaining the Fire thing more, I kinda figured it was dealing a with a gemini fire, i hope you didn't take those offensive, I was just joking about it, thats all..... I knew you were joking, but I thought I might take the oppertunity to explain it.

ragnarok1945
yeah see Phoenix Archer is better in that sense as it's not just completely effect siphoning, at least it has an effect of its own
Max Darkness
yeah see Phoenix Archer is better in that sense as it's not just completely effect siphoning, at least it has an effect of its own
The reason is, unlike 'Phoenix Miko', 'Fervent Pyromancer' or 'Aurora Mage', all of which are purely needed support monsters; 'Phoenix Archer' is designed to be the central Tuner for the set, and thus has a full variety of effects to use. It's the same with 'Scarlet Sword Master', 'Elven Swordsmistress' and 'Witch of the Phoenix', all key set cards. But I'm glad you like it.
Lexadin
Searing Hellhound I can really remember this one, but I see you've changed it quite a bit. I really like how it's both an 'UFO Turtle' target and can actually summon itself aswell when destroyed. The Burn is quite nice. But being a Gemini I kinda doubt it'll last long enough to really abuse that burn. But hé, extra damage is always nice and it'll mainly be used for stalling your opponent's attacks out anyways. Solaris Chara I remember this one aswell. Wasn't this part of that (Delta) Accell Synchro set you made once? Nice +0 discard effect. Just in case you don't need, or wouldn't be able to use this. As for it's Gemini Effect, I'm inclined to think it's somewhat UP. I mean, I know it's a Lvl 2 and stuff, but the chance of it lasting long enough to abuse its effect is slim. And only being able to select lvl 4 or lower FIRE Gemini's doesn't help it either. So it'll mainly be used as a recycler. Ember Dragon Selfsummoning and Burning. I must say it's quite a handy mon. Just mill or Discard it and wait till your opp nukes/destroyes 1 of your Gemini's. Or heck, you could even destroy 1 of your own mons to Sp.Summon this. Being the highest link also saves it from being Solemn'd. I'd say it's a really nice mon, for FIRE Gemini's that is. Phoenix Dragon Ah, here's the obligatory Tuner. Recycling is always nice, though it'll be -1 as you'll need to 'Super Double Summon' this or something like that and then Tune it immediatly afterwards for it to actually work. But I gues it's ok. Phoenix Miko Basicly a costless monster version of 'Super Double Summon'. But I'm not quite shure why it's also an Gemini. Or do you need to Summon it again while in your hand? Which I can't really see happening. Phoenix Cherub The Special Summon part is always nice. But again I feel it won't last that long. Unless you 'SDS' it or something like that. Giving it even less chances to Summon 'Seraph'. So it's imo a mehish card. Even with the Sp. Summon. Phoenix Seraph This is really a boss card. It Special Summons like a mad (wo)man while saving Gemini's from thier worst nightmare, being turned face-down. Though 'Book' is limited to 1 (I think) it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But it's handy nonetheless. Being able to get around the 2 Tributes with 'Cherub' is nice aswell, but I doubt it will happen that often. Being a Gemini pretty much saves it from being OP, so overall it's a really nice card. Phoenix Virtue For some reason I love the pic. Being Sp. Summonable is absolutly something that saves this card. Being a Union does help, but being a Gemini really doesn't. It'll probebly be most usefull as Synchro flodder. Though the Union effect is quite original. It really doesn't work that well with Gemini's. So usefull, but at the sametime kinda failed. Aurora Mage Well fir... WHOA! It's a WIND Gemini. Quite unexpected tbh. But I'll continue rating it, it was just kinda random. Anywho, I must say. Considering this set, it's first effect is really handy. However, it's 2nd ability is truely something usefull. It's basicly a 'Raregold Armor' but always to your strongest mon. Making most of your Gemini's a lot more playable. Shame its not the strongest itself. But it can be quite abusable with a beatstick Gemini and 'Cherub'. Really usefull despite it being a WIND is kinda random. Vervent Pyromancer I remember Tributing from your hand being allowed with Rituals. But I totaly forgot you can do the same with regulair mons. Quite ingenious thing there. Other then that it's a nice support. Nothing all that special. Witch of the Phoenix I remember something simulair, but with another name and effect. Though I gues it might aswell could've been a totaly different card. Now that I've read it's effect again, I remember you showing this a while ago. And me commenting on it aswell so I'll skip this one. Elven Swordsmistress Really nice support, it has enough ATK too keep its own while being Sp.Summonable aswell. And it's Gemini effect is also really usable as it basicly means a free Gemini Summoned mon. Considering it's Normal Summoned that is. That is where those recyclers from earlier come in. And this is also nice flodder for Synchro's when needed. Phoenix Archer A Tuner that can Sp.Summon itself. Luckily its limited to once per duel. But even so, it's a nice variation to the lower lvl (and power) other Tuners in this set. It's other effect could be handy, but I don't see the uses that much. Overal they are certainly the most speedy Gemini's I've ever seen, which is nice as they needed the speed. Many low lvled ones aswell. Which gives more veriaty to Synchro-ing them. I think I've rated about half of them now. So I'll continue to do so lateron. Just remember me to do so, otherwise I'll forget.
