"I'm fine," Tenri replied, "I'm just not so strong." Not like Keima, she added to herself. Thinking of him seemed to calm her down, and she noticed that in both sets of memories Keima was almost identical, playing his video games. "I just got a little spooked..." she quietened down again.

"By me," Diana picked up the conversation. "What little I remember is consistent, suggesting I only have one set of memories, however most of them are missing. All I can say at this stage is that I was probably not here before."

"Now, you can go and find allies, but at least for a few minutes, Tenri and I need to be alone," she finished.

“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you Miss Soho,” Mami replied with a smile.

She began to follow Reina to the parking lot near the park, silently contemplating the meaning behind this strange set of new memories. There was so much so siphon through and Mami barely even understood most of it. She got so lost in thought she forgot she was supposed to be following Reina, only being reminded when she called out to her.

“Oh, I do apologize,” she said, quickly catching up to Reina “I’m afraid both my parents have passed away though, so I live by myself.”

She faltered again, the memories of the car accident that took her parents’ lives surfacing in her memory but even that seemed different now. Everything seemed pretty much the same except for some strange white creature staring at her, at first Mami thought it was a rabbit but it looked nothing like one. She quickly pulled herself out of her strange memory, attributing it to more of the strange results of the flash and made to follow Reina again.

“I’m sorry…I think this has rather taken its toll on me,” she said.

Reina understood Mami's problems. She was still coping with the flood of memories that had been unleashed upon her. Finally, they reached Reina's car, a average-looking sedan with a silver paintjob. It wasn't very impressive for someone who worked as a top-notch scientist, but it was reliable. Reina got into the car, sitting in the driver's side, while opening the passenger's side door. Once Mami got in, Reina locked the doors and turned to Mami. "So, would you like to go first, sharing your normal memories, then this other set of memories, or shall I?"

It wasn't too long before the hospital staff were happy with Takanuva's condition. He seemed unusually fortunate; no bones had been broken, nore did there seem to be much external injury. He'd simply lost a lot of blood. Naturally this was no laughing matter, but would most certainly be good news for Kurohime when the hospital team were done with him. While he was on the stretcher, still unconscious, Takanuva began muttering, starting just before he was carried away from Kurohime.
"Ta...kua...Jaller...Toa...Kanohi..." Although this seemed like jibberish, anyone with knowledge of the maori language would know the last two words meant "warrior" and "face", though why exactly he was saying these things would be beyond anyone's guess.

Itachi understood and turned to head in another direction. "I have a feeling that this is all wrong." He said before he left. "Our lives have been interfered with - has our happy endings, any chance for a normal life, been changed?" And with that, he walked away to search for others that might have been affected.

- - - - - -

Ironically, he had unknowingly just passed by one. Haqua calmly walked down the street. As she passed by Tenri, she felt a sense of familiarity. Right, she had seen her once while at Cafe Grandpa, and in her other set of memories-. . . . she realized she was staring. She decided to let it be, and went back on her way to a library.

Mami slid into the passenger seat beside Reina, closing the door with a soft clunk and turning to the scientist. A slight frown crossed her face when she realized Reina wasn’t starting the engine and simply turned to face Mami with a serious expression on her face, leading Mami to wonder if it had been a mistake to follow her after all. She heaved a sigh of relief however when Reina simply asked her about her memories, not really questioning why she knew about them but Mami guessed she was experiencing similar strange memories. She looked away from Reina, staring through the windscreen and frowning.

“I’m afraid I’m not entirely sure where to begin,” she confessed “It’s all so confusing. Everything seems relatively the same up until the car crash and then…” She faltered, remembering the strange animal staring at her “…I’m not really sure what to say, everything past that is like something out of a cartoon and I’m using magic to fight these strange creatures called Witches and...” She trailed off, realizing how ridiculous it all sounded “I guess I must be going crazy or something, magic doesn’t exist after all.”

She looked back over at Reina with a nervous smile on her face, wondering what she thought of all this.

“I am assuming you have similar memories?” She asked “Or at the very least ones that seem rather strange. It would certainly be a comfort to know I’m not the only one.”

Reina listened, the look in her eyes telling Mami that she understood what was going on. "Unlike you, my memories only converge at this...flash...but to summarize, I grew up in a small coastal town north of here, with a loving schoolteacher of a mother and a caring operations team leader on an offshore platform of a father. On my twelfth birthday, my father left for work, but was killed when his platform caught fire in a freak accident. From that day onward, I vowed to make the world a better place by providing it with clean, renewable, and most importantly, safe energy. 15 years later, here I am, one of the leading experts in Ener-D and working on a secret project."
"However, according to these new memories, I am from a world where a magical artifact called the 'Witchblade' has been fought over for eons. Only women are allowed to use it, but men crave its power. In this other set of memories, I was created by what can only be seen as a mad scientist, and raised as one of his closest servants. I researched the Witchblade, and almost obtained its power, only to lose it, my baby daughter, and my home in the process. Years later, I came across the woman who took the Witchblade and had unknowingly claimed my daughter as her own. I fought against her, possessing a similar power to the Witchblade, and I eventually took custody of my daughter. She taught my emotionless duplicate love and affection, and what it truly means to be a mother."
Reina started to tear up a bit after she ended the tale of her other memories. "Sadly...I...I....." The scientist couldn't finish her sentence, and turned to face the front of the car, tears rolling down her face.

Mami listened to Reina’s own story with interest, marvelling at both the differences and the parallels between their two memories until Reina finished her recounting, or at least tried to. Mami could guess what happened (or supposedly happened?) from the way Reina stared off into space with tears coming down her face, leaving a very awkward atmosphere in the small vehicle. After a while Mami finally spoke up.

“I…I’m sorry,” she said, without really knowing what she was apologizing for “I suppose this must be rather shocking to learn all this so suddenly and…” She faltered, stoking her own throat again without realizing it, a look of both concern and fear coming across her face “…I’m not sure why but my own memories seem…Inconsistent, they keep changing around with minor differences and such but there is one thing that does remain constant…” She hesitated, not entirely sure how to phrase it “…I die.”

She was surprised to even be saying this, let along remembering it so vividly, and in so many different ways too. Mami was quickly becoming more and more unnerved by all of this and turned to Reina, her warm smile faltering as the pressure of it all began to take hold of her.

“You…You don’t suppose we’re going crazy, do you?” She asked.

Reina turned to Mami and did a rather startling and surprising thing: she hugged her. It wasn't a tight hug, like a lover's comforting embrace, but simply a hug from someone who was unused to hugs, but merely needed to wrap her arms around something. Reina had kept her emotions bottled up often enough that her co-workers thought she was a robot, but she needed to let this out.
"I guess...that makes two of us..." Reina finally spoke up. "I only remember one death, but I remember it ever so clearly. At least I remember dying happily and contently, but I still don't know what this means. Which set of memories is my real one? Is this reality, this universe we live in, all just an illusion? Or have we truly gone insane, with these delusions being the only way we can cope?"

While Jenova was dreading herself more and more for remembering... practically anything, Richie had a decent time at the bar, enjoying a few beers and watching the news on a TV. But then all of a sudden, a report had caught his eye.

"In our last story of the day, a patient in the New Domino City Hospital was lucky to survive a devastating crash into a cafe at the 237th and Lateral intersection this morning," a news reporter had stated through the television, "The accident occurred shortly after The Flash had enveloped seventeen kilometres within the centre earlier, and now forensic scientists suspect that The Flash may have been the cause of such a terrifying tragedy, but have yet to eliminate more likely causes,"

The reporter had then began interviewing a nearby Sector Security Chieftain. But just as she was about to end the report...

"Hang on a minute, go back to where she's still interviewing the guy," Richie requested. The barkeeper rewinded to said point in the report and played it again, allowing Richie to study what Takua was trying to say in the background.

"Any ideas?" the barkeeper asked.

"Not sure on the rest of it, but the last two words are definitely Maori for warrior and face," Richie answered, trying to think why Takua would say these things, "Poor bugger's still unconscious, aye?"

"Sure does look like it," The barkeeper said, noting that Richie got up to leave, "Why, you know him?"

"No, but that Flash's been screwing up everyone's lives, including my own," were Richie's final words before leaving for the hospital, and starting up his Duel Runner, the Dark Kiwi. He wasn't sure if there was a zero tolerance for driving with any form of alcohol in one's system, but he did know that even if there was a limit, that he drank too few beers to breach that limit.

Kai walked on, looking for some sign of unsettling. He had come across the site of a crashed D-Wheel, yet it had already been surrounded by various law enforcement vehicles. "This search is taking to long..." he muttered, walking past a TV store. One of the Television sets there had been turned to a news channel, viewing a report on the crash site he had come across. He stopped dead in his tracks upon hearing a muffled word "Flash". He immediately turned around in time to hear that the patient had been taken to Neo Domino's hospital. A grin wiped across Kai's face. "...There." He thought. "Someone who was affected by that light... It must be. I've got to go see them, and find out what's going on." He thought. With that, be walked quickly, in the direction of the hospital.

After a couple of hours of waiting, Kurohime was overjoyed to hear that Takanuva had survived. She rushed to his side as soon as she could, knocking aside doctors and nurses as she did so. She eventually found him lying in a small hospital room, his wounds bandaged as he slept off the surgery. Kurohime pulled up a seat and sat down next to Takanuva. "I want to talk to you now more than ever about what happened...this...this Flash thing, as they are calling it...it changes people...makes them think things they never thought before...and I just wanted to share what it has done to me...but I've missed you while I have traveled the world as a Pro Duelist...I mean, we grew up together, and fought against each other in the Satellite...before you decided to become writer while I went off to see the world..." The normally tough badass reached and held Takanuva's hand on her own. "I'm sorry for leaving..."

Takanuva, still unconscious, couldn't directly respond to his old friend. However, somethign was getting through to him, it seemed, as his head turned to face Kurohime. When Kurohime apologised to him, Takanuva opened his eyes and smiled at her. He couldn't move just yet but he seemed to want to stop her from being so sad. He tightened his grip on her hand.
"It's...it's okay...I don't blame you, Kurohime. We had our own ambitions, so you shouldn't beat yourself up over it." He tried to think back to his childhood in Satellite with Kurohime; he remembered them playing, but for some reasons the memories were fading. Fast. He looked more and more confused as the memories began to change drastically, merging both sets into one. The memories of playing with Kurohime started adjusting; satellite became a volcanic village, while her name made him think of someone called...
"...Jaller..." Takanuva said in confusion. After saying this, an odd voice echoed in the back of his head; Kohlii-head! You could've been lavabones!

When the voice echoed in the back of his mind, he remembered the memories the Flash gave him, but now they were faded, as were some of his new memories. It seemed the accident was making him develop minor amnesia. At this point he remembered something which, though trivial to some, was extremely important to him; "My deck!! Where is it?!"

---

Teridax and his gang made it to the local dueling park area. Teridax often plays by the ante rule here to get strong cards from weak duelists, but today there wasn't a hint of anyone dueling. The only people around were clutching at their heads and groaning as if something had made an impact on their minds. At first this came to Teridax's dismay, since he was already over the ridiculous memories - they only lingered in his mind because they were so strange and realistic despite being unbelievable. Then, he realised this could be used to his advantage.
"You lot, run around and steal as many Decks as you can from these people while they're preoccupied. My deck still needs better DARK cards." As the group dispersed to steal cards from preoccupied people, Teridax couldn't help but feel the strange memories return when he noticed a poster for a local zoo, on which were pictures of rhinos, tigers and scorpions. The memories made him imagine more mechanical variants of these creatures which were under his control, and he even found himself naming them as he looked at the poster;
"Muaka...Kane-Ra...Nui-Jaga...wait what?!" He realised what he'd just said and shook his head. What the hell is a 'Nui-Jaga'?

Tsuna lunged forward and started sprinting into the dark alleyway, out into the light of the neighbouring street. He has no idea what those visions were, but his main concern is what happened to his friend. He turns his head left, right then left again but no sign of him. He spot several people, but none of them seem like they had been affected by some flash. "Where should I go first?! Wait, the hospital! Someone might've found him unconscious and bought him in" realized Tsuna as he heads into the direction of the hospital.

Tsuna bursts into the hospital's emergency department, with his heart racing and his his head thumping, he starts to yell. "Help, help. Has anyone seen my friend Byakuran? He has white hair and a purple mark on his face. There was this flash of light then next minute he was gone!" Panics Tsuna as tears run down his face. "Please help!!!" yells Tsuna one last time before he receives a response.

Kai had found himself in the hospital, waiting for the crashed rider to be discharged. He honestly didn't have anything better to do, and if he left, the rider may very well be gone the next second. So, he waited in the hospital lobby, the front desk having refused him entry to the rider's room. He hadn't been there for long when someone burst in through the doors, shouting about some other patient, Kai assumed. He hadn't been listening. But of course, heads looked up, people turned to watch the man. Kai was first to approach. "Calm down." He said, putting a hand on the man's shoulder. "First things first; Tell me what happened."

Tsuna felt a warm. friendly touch on his shoulder. He turned over to see who it was. There stood a man not that much older than Tsuna was, he had spiky brown hair and face that didn't show much emotion, only seriousness. "Um... me and my friend were just heading to the mall when suddenly this flash of light appeared. When the light faded out I was fine except for the headache, but when I looked around my friend had disappeared. You're gonna think I'm crazy when I say this but... during this flash I had visions of myself, they felt like memories but at the same time they don't."

Mami jumped slightly when Reina went over to hug her, being too caught up in her own thoughts to really notice what was going on around her. It wasn't a tight hug by any means but it somehow made her feel a little calmer, at least for knowing she wasn't the only one going through this. She wrapped a sympathetic arm around Reina as she began explaining her own vivid memory of death, seeming to be in much more shock than Mami was despite only having the one to remember, Mami guessed that due to the jumbled and inconsistant nature of her own memories that she was more confused than anything else. She took a moment to let Reina calm down, admitedly feeling a little akward for being alone in a car with a complete stranger but she wasn't about to bring that up.

"Well..." she said slowly after about a minute of silence "We're probably not going to get any answers by just sitting here. Perhaps we're not the only ones this happened to? I'm sure we're not the only ones after all."

Despite the reassurance, it was pretty clear from Mami's tone of voice that she didn't entirely believe it herself and was grasping at strings. Then again, perhaps that was better than just wallowing in self pity and confusion.

Jenova was the first target of Teridax's minions, but that didn't mean to say she was going to let them steal anything from her. She used her psychic powers to push the one that was after her into the pond, and left him there to drown.

"Hope you don't know how to swim, you bastard," she spat, before to Teridax, "And you... oh I'll make sure you pay for that."

At the Duel Academy, Rika Nonaka was participating in a practical exam. So far, she had a face-up Pyramid of Light, Andro Sphinx and Sphinx Teleia, but her eyes lit up for a second when her opponent, the proctor of the practical exam, had managed to summon Jinzo onto the field. Of course, both monsters on Rika's side of the field were more than powerful enough to destroy Jinzo, but its lesser Attack and Defense Points weren't what caused her concern.

'Oh no, Jinzo has the power to destroy internet memes!' Rika thought to herself, 'But my deck... it's almost full of internet jokes and reference... wait, what the hell am I talking about?! It's only going to negate my Pyramid of Light. But still, that's gonna screw up my plans. It's all down to this next draw now, I only have one more shot at this.'

Rika's practical exam was only a 3-turn duel, which she already used the previous 2 turns on, and if she couldn't deplete all 8000 of the proctor's Life Points, she'd fail the exam. Luckily, her next card was a Mystical Space Typhoon, and the proctor had no face-downs to protect himself upon Jinzo's defeat.

"Sphinx Teleia, destroy that Jinzo, and Andro Sphinx, attack his Life Points directly!" Rika commanded, as both monsters did their jobs and took a sizeable chunk of the proctor's Life Points, "I'm not done yet. I activate Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Pyramid of Light, which destroys both monsters in return, allowing me to summon Theinen the Great Sphinx! True, it'll cost me 500 Life Points, but I don't need them any more, 'cause I still have enough to pay another 500 Life Points to increase its attack by a whopping 3000! And since it's still my Battle Phase, I attack for game!"

In a matter of seconds, the duel was over, as was the examination.

"Well done, Ms. Nonaka, you may rest now," the proctor stated, "Oh and um, don't let that Flash get to you too much,"

"Yeah, sure..." Rika left the Academy, and decided to head to the park to think things through.

Reina quickly regained her composure and agreed, wiping the tears from her eyes and starting up the car. "I have yet another offer for you, Mami. If you have no one else to live with, I have a spare room in my apartment that I have been trying to rent out for months. I live in a relatively pricey part of town, and no one has answered my classifieds. However, I am willing to help you move in with me. If you pay for food and your own supplies, I will let you stay. I wish to research this phenomenon, and I presume I will need help with this endeavor. I think it would be best for both of our interests if we collaborate, since we both have similar experiences."

Kanade had been strolling in the gardens when the flash came, and had fallen down in agony from the sudden onrush of memories, including of dieing and, rather wierdly, of an afterlife where she was fighting against and later helping a group of teenagers who had made their way there. While those memories were setting themselves beside her memories, she had become a target for Teridax's gang, with a couple of members walking over to try and steal her cards. She turned towards them, her face still expressionless, and just raised her duel disk, inviting them to duel if they still want to try for her cards.

Lelouch walked up to the two men talking in the hospital waiting area, saying "You saw wierd images that looked like memories too, that lets me know that if I'm crazy, I'm not the only one. Do you still remember those memories now? Mine are still in there trying to settle themselves beside my original set, but i have no idea what they are meant to mean. I'm Lelouch by the way, Lelouch Lamperouge."

Light was studying in the University Library when the flash occured, and bent over in agony, clutching his head as the deluge of memories started to pour in. Suddenly it stopped, the memories settling beside his own, and his eyes snapped back open, glinting like he had just had a major revelation. He had in a way, he had realised that the criminals in the world weren't getting punished enough and had decided to punish them himself. "Afterall," he muttered, "With my Allies of Justice and my police issue duel disk, with the special feature that can allow real damage, I am the perfect person to punish them." With that, he grinned, a sinister grin forboding trouble, and the ability to deal that trouble himself.

Mami looked at Reina with a look of both surprised and interest in response to her offer, looking away again with a puzzling expression on her face. She stared at the glove compartment for a moment as she thought, considering her options; she had been doing fine on her own before now without any kind of help, which had honestly surprised even her, of course that had been before the flash and the strange memories. Not to mention Reina did have a point, they were both in a very similar situation and if they wanted any answers it would be best to stick together, and Mami had no idea how she’d be able to cope by herself after this anyway. She looked back at Reina, retaining a polite if somewhat nervous smile.

"If I may, I would like to have some time to think about it," she said "It is not something I can decide lightly, you understand."

The boy left, and Diana and Tenri were alone again.

"Who are you?" the human girl asked, glancing sideways at the glass, and keeping her voice low.

"I do not know," the reflection replied. "everything before this point is dim, and if you have gained memories of another life you may know more than me." She stopped speaking as another girl walked past them, one familiar to both girls. Tenri recalled seeing her around the Café Keima's mother ran, but there was some faint memory of another version, not quite human.

Diana, however, saw something else, a memory of this girl, armed with a robe and scythe, and a fight. The girl bound up some boy - for some reason seemed important, but yet her subconscious insisted he was a negative influence - with the cloth, and Diana, in control of her host's body, somehow split the robe using her arm.

"Go home," she ordered, as soon as the other girl was out of sight, "let's sort out what we know before we deal with everyone else."
