There is such a thing as too much planning though. I've been warned about this, that if everything is too set in place before I've begun, writing it all down will become a chore itself. Unfortunately the nature of it demands a lot of planning, at the cost of little room to be spontaneous.

Really wish Order of Chaos would hurry and be released so I can try to finish a load of decks. That and the release of a load more (decent) Numbers/General Xyz.

Just a thought when reading the words 'Wicked Gods' in the prologue there. People seem to be hardly champing at the bit to centre their fanfics around the Xyz mechanic. Can't think why, I know I am desperate but am waiting for more to be released. Perhaps that is what everyone is doing?

[/quote]I'd started and planned my decks before writing, so I probably won't have Xyz in mine for a while. It's not that I don't want to use them, they just don't work into the story quite yet. Though I believe I did mention it in one of the chapters.

Thanks. But as stated in my introduction for the fanfic, there will be 4 books. The third is centred around Numbers, in other words Xyz. I doubt I'll use Synchro monsters that much in that particular book, unless it's signer dragons or Aesir Gods....

Ooh, that's quite good to see Book 3 in the planning already. I've only got a few sketchy ideas of duels pencilled in for part three of mine.

By all means use Aesir Gods or Signer Dragons but for the love of all that is holy DON'T MAKE THEM SIGNERS!!! DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!!

Hi everyone, I'm back after a few days of College starting to catch up to me. Matt told me a few people had wanted to join, and while I haven't had a chance to go through the thread entirely and catch up, anyone who posted asking to join is accepted and within a day or two I'll get your stories added to the Main Post.

I returned a couple of days ago, but I've been working on getting my own story set and situated as I've just finished the 22nd episode, the first Arc now complete. Feel free to check that out too.

Speaking of new members, we really need to try and get more people joining and get this place as a learning centre for people who are new to fanfic writing and need help and advice.

Seen a lot of people post or test fanfics and they need a lot of work in terms of writing and content, but there are guys who are enthusiastic and want to learn. I know I've been Pm'ed by three different people for fanfic help in the last two weeks. Perfectly happy to do it, quite honoured that people ask me, but I don't have all the answers and I think this club should serve this area as well as what it does currently.

Other news, is anyone else going to enter Kyubey's Halloween contest? Anyone?

Even a pinned thread in Fanfic section where people can ask questions and have practise work reviewed might do, but think a more communal group that offers more would be better. I've reviewed a lot of opening chapters in the last few weeks that... haven't been very good... and I've said as much. Some people have unfortunately given up which is a shame (and I am as nice as possible when I review) but some are determined to improve. That's why I think this club is important.

I had never written a word of horror before the contest, and managed to conjure something in 2 hours. Sure I was struck by a good idea out of nowhere but still. You have 10 days to enter... >_>

Is having a small bother with the card games for my next fic...

You might have heard me say that I wanted this to be a fresh set of decks in this fic, using all the most recent Trading Card and Duel Terminal Archtypes. Well at the minute, looking at the plans for the first arc, it doesn't look that fresh as as things currently stand, out of the eight 'Xyz Archtypes' from DT, seven of them appear in the first arc, whereas out of the six Xyz Archtypes from GENF, PHSW and ORCS... only 1 does... There's even set to be the (only) two 'classic' archtypes from GX getting in before the likes of Evol and Wind Up make their first appearance.

A lot of these archtypes actually belong to the more major characters that only start dueling after the half way mark, but my concern is people aren't going to get there if they see DT archtypes like Ritua and Inverz that have probably be used a million times before to start with, and it loses its fresh appeal.

That doesn't sound like too much of a problem though.

It's not a disasterous catastrophe by any means, but in my mind it just doesn't look like its living up to the billing of being 'new fanfic for new era of YGO' if the new archtypes aren't turning up for a while.

Obvious difficulty with Photon and Banishark is their major in the anime, Evol are being used by a major character who doesn't duel until after halway, Wind Ups appear in the first half but dunno if thats early enough, Armed Ninja aren't looking set for a major role and Inzecters currently aren't assigned a duelist at all. Want to give them major prominance and I might be able to get them in early, but having looked at them properly am slightly worried about their one-trick poniness.

At the minute my saving grace in terms of a new archtype getting straight into bat are the Sacred.

How do people feel about the use of Laval, Ritua, Gusta, Gem-Knights, Vairon and Inverz in fics? Good archtypes? Over or under-used?


Ps: Half-way through watching Yusei vs Zone for first time. Really enjoying this so far, although I fear theres a lot of chit-chat coming up. Can't wait to get writing again (must be patient)

Gem Knights are based off of a mix of HEROs and CBs, but their archetype has a lot of cards to work with already, and they're still fairly new, so I don't see why you wouldn't want to, especially since they don't completely work into the idea of a DT storyline. Though, then again, I'm not exactly sure how Laval, Gusto, and Ritua completely fit either, cept being controlled by Inzecters.

Speaking of Inzecters, they're kinda evil, you might consider using them.

The Vylons are, in essence, Sacred's, btw.

I got sick of 5Ds, so I've never seen that duel.

I think half my problem is not understanding how new they are. Just looked them up - Vairon Laval and Gemknights debuted in April 10, and Inverz Gusta and Ritua the following August. So hardly groundbreakingly new.

I do want to use them, they're all archtypes I by amazing coincidence avoided in Armageddon. Its just I fear a reaction of 'oh, these guys, we've seen them in every other fic. I thought we were getting Inzecters and Evol'. They will turn up, but hopefully not after everyones given up.

Controlled by Inzecters? I'm sure I've misunderstood you here. I am planning on using them, just not quite sure who to give them to yet.

The Verz are in essence Inverz, however I do intend to use that somehow.

Just finished watching, some of the cards Yusei was pulling against Zone were ridiculous, but they had to be to fight those things. Still it was all very exciting, especially when a duel I thought lasted eight turns went into nine and he bought out Sephiron. One of the best final duels I've seen.

Just seen that DT14 hits the virtual world in January too, with more Sacred and Verz support no doubt. Excellent.

I was planning on writing some Duel Terminal story, but it would just be a later story arc anyway.

From what I've read, the Ritua, Laval, Gusto, Gem Knights, and Vylons teamed up to fight the Inverz. After the defeat of the Inverz, the Vylon turned on the other archetypes. Now were do the Inzecters and the Sacreds fit in with the story?
