BUMP!

Has anyone done any reviews yet? Be sure to include some links here once you do so we can take a look at them...
I figured we were just going to post those at the end of the contest. However, since you wanted links...

Was also worried this had gone a bit quiet.

Think the fics section is definately one of the ones that has been quietest since the site format change, along with card contests. Haven't really seen anything that is looking like the next Trio or Dead Zone yet (or indeed, Dead Zone).

Going to start writing the final ever chapter of Armageddon on Sunday. Had been stuggling with it for ages because I finished the other two aftermath chapters a while ago, but finally ready to start on it now.

Should have the chapters posted probably the week after next (beginning 24th) I'm on holiday that week.

PS: Ice did I review yours? I know I did a few even though I'm not entering the contest, can't remember now and too pushed for time to check.

I think I recall reading a review on my story from you, Bahamut.

I did that, and I'll do more reviews when I get time.

The Wanderer isn't mine though. I was just linking my review for the contest.
Painful Future is mine, though.

Well, that doesn't mean he can't read and review it, no? :D

It's quiet over here, isn't it?

So, I have officially given up writing for a while. It's kinda hard to stick to a plot when we all know how it is going to end: good guy wins and the bad guy goes down in smoke. It just seems so bland and unoriginal that I just have no more use for writing Underground Tyranny anymore.

Although, I do have a few different ideas in mind, though they are not Yu-Gi-Oh related...

Well great news lads (and ladesses?). I'm posting to you for the first time from the comfort of my own home. Enjoying a bowl of my own cereal and a mug of tea (its 8:30 am here) and getting back to full time membership of this site and able to have the convenience of internet anytime. Now I just need this forum as a whole to pick up.
Yeah, it just sounded like he might have been saying he thought it was mine.
Genuinely did think it was yours. Think its confusing you see a picture of the last person to post in that topic whereas the author is written in very small text. Must have been where the confusion arose.

Well now I know you wrotye it I shan't! :P

Only kidding. Holiday starts on Friday. Will get there.

Do the 'good guys' necessarily have to win?

Well if its a 'if we lose the world ends' scenario then yes, but otherwise I don't think they have to every time.

Todays television it almost always works out for the hero and good shines through because thats what producers think we want, but in the eights in cop shows like The Sweeney and The Professionals, the baddies would sometimes get away, making it no garuntee that the goodies would win every week.

If the good guys have to win, like how The Dark Doorway is going to end eventually, make it a Pyrrhic victory. Essentially, significant losses on both sides. Nice Job Breaking It, Hero (as well as What The Hell, Hero?) can be used to great extent.

Bad news, everyone, my computer broke down and is currently being fixed. Latest Dark Doorway chapter was on it, but I'm working on a replacement.

I'm going to look up what the means now.

You mean you lost the whole chapter? Damn, how many hours of work was that? :o

Always keep a back up on a USB man.

Also, so many bad fics about since I was last here. Really makes me want to start writing my next story and show people how its done (ego). Hurry up with more Xyz and Numbers monsters Konami!!!

...22:00...22:00...22:00...

A Pyrrhic victory is essentially that one side wins, but they lose so much in the process of winning that they might as well have lost, given how things played out.

I didn't keep track of the hours, but there were at least a few. Nothing I can't rewrite, though. It's the end of the arc, so I've had it planned out for a while. Should've thought of a backup, but this isn't actually that bad: gives me another chance to look at the story.

Well, unfortunately, that isn't the case here. Unless you count losing your brother, the only family that you ever had left to the clutches of an evil madman, but I don't think that would be "die-hard" enough. Also, if you count losing the privilege to ever Duel again a hard hit to the stomach, then yes, but, again, I wouldn't think so.

That's a shame about the computer, even though I haven't gotten around to reading the Dark Doorway. It didn't seem to pull me in as much as it did say Armageddon. But anyways, yeah, sorry.

You, my friend, need to think outside the box. How about the protagonist ending up killing a significant amount of people that simply couldn't be saved? If they have to choose between saving their brother and saving these hundreds of innocents, what will they pick?

If they lose the right to Duel, what will they do with their lives? Why did they lose that right? Are they considered enemies of the state because of their actions?

To paraphrase the great Anthony Jezelnik: "I understand, I'm not for everybody. But you should probably read more." That said, I haven't read much of Underground Tyranny either, so I shouldn't be saying much.

This sort of thing you could also take 2 different ways.
1. The Hero is outcast for the damage. Kinda like how the superheroes get outcast at the start of The Incredibles.
2. You could make the result so horrendous in either way that the Hero just decides a loss is good enough and let's whatever bad thing happen. <<(Cause no one ever does that. EVER.)

Okay, so how about this for a new idea?

Recently, I started reading a book from Sidney Sheldon called "The Sky is Falling", with the tag of "A Spellbinding Novel of Glamour, Sex, Power, and Murder that spans the globe". However, the actual story doesn't revolve around the Sex and Power part, and just tends to stick to murder. It's all very fascinating.

To sum up the plot of a 300 page book, a guy with a rich charity and rich custom is suddenly murdered. Within the single year, the other four are killed in a series of "accidents". A news reporter, Dana Evans, believes there is something more concerning the series of accidents, and begins an investigation to uncover as much evidence as possible involving the accidents. Then, she is led into a horrific cat-and-mouse chase that leads her through half of a dozen countries. As she gets closer and closer to figuring out who the killer is, the secrets that she uncovers place her and her African adopted son in even more jeopardy, to the point where the young boy is kidnapped (duh...) and Dana is nearly killed (duh...)

So, I'm going to follow the cat-and-mouse theme of this story, except have a different plot surrounding it. A young girl, yet unnamed, wakes up in the middle of an autumn field with no idea who she is or where she is at (cliche, I know, but I am going to try and make it not cliche as possible). She is taken into a house with an old grandfather, a grandmother, and another sister. This is where the cat-and-mouse thing begins. The girl then travels across thirteen different states (I think she is going to start off in Maine, or somewhere near the coast (this is obviously realistic fiction)) trying to evade her pursuers, while gathering information, trying to remember who she is.

That's all I have so far. Shoot me a suggestion!
