Neg Reps (50 supporters)

Reps are a way to show, in a way, how much a member in this community contributes and/or is respected. A member with a high rep count, such as Darkplant, are well liked around the forum and tend to gain a lot of respect from other members. On the other hand, a member with a low rep count, such as Shard, is not as loved, and doesn't see as much respect. However, with the absence of the ability to minus a rep, members can now only go up, and the entire reputation system becomes meaningless.

I give my full support.

Nice come back. But, this isn't about winning an argument. Well maybe it is a little bit... But, cant you see that negs are only bringing us conflict and any thing you want to express with a neg rep you can do with a PM or a simple post...?

Look above for an example of that.

Negs are what keep the idiots at bay.

Banana's, support.

Let's see:

-System is meaningless as is because everyone can just go up or can plain ask for them or have them given on contests.
-Yes small differences in opinion for little details are missuse of neg reps. That's the only drawback.
-Without negs, its a one-sided thing nobody cares about.

In a way, the troll is being successful. Or at least it will be if people keep talking to him. It causes spam and in turn can cause this thread to get locked and forgotten long before YCMaker takes a look at it. Making it worthless.
Other than that, pretty meh.

People that are afraid of a well deserved neg should concentrate more in improving themselves instead. Even more so, people that deeply care about likes enough need to reflect a little on what they are doing.

My little treasure in this site used to be the old rep system because:
-Every rep needed to be justified, and even if I didn't have as many as others, they were all meaningful from people that were truly grateful for something I did, and specified so and when.
-Worthless negs could be reported and erased at the mod's discression (if you cared enough about a clean record)

This is the best argument

I well despite the claims don't support it because does anybody remember a guy by the name fo JACK WITT he spammed neg reps at people just by saying your deck needs improvement or something or disagrreing But the sytem should have the ability to disable neg rep to people who have abused it and if that happened then I WOULD support it but I'll see about it.

Abuse is possible I'll give you that, but abusers deserve the banning and most likely would get it anyways since those things can and should be reported. Also, old style negs can be erased and/or edited just like comments by their poster or by mods.

Likes as they are now in the current system are unerasable. I heard one time Flame Dragon saying to some other member "I can't erase negs, but what I can do is give you a rep to make up for it".

About your suggestion, that would probably not be implemented mainly because of the main drawback of the old rep system. That is, mods get extra work to do that is non-existent with the current "likes". Still, I'd like the old one comming back (along with negs even).

BTW, it feels awkward looking at members with negative rep in the member list when that is not even possible to do anymore.

If you had to put a reason for the Rep, I could see a member being able to erase their own +Reps. That way, if they feel they don't deserve it or something, they could have a clean record. But then negs could only be erased by the mods. Of course, that's probably very time-consuming, but it could take off a bit of that pressure from the mods, and still give meaning to the Rep system.

You do realize that another forum has implemented IP 3.2.2, and has neg reps? We want YCMaker to implement it. Just because it isn't in the market place doesn't mean that it isn't possible.

He's not going to get off his butt and code something. Let's be honest here.

If you feel a post is stupid, call them out on it in a logical manner, slam them in your sig, whatever. The concept of neg repping and crap, especially on YCM, is dumb. It all gets outweighed unless there's a huge movement against a single person in which case they usually end up sodding off anyway.

On the scale of things, it's stupid.
