DARKPLANT RISING
The Bartimaeus Trilogy (by Jonathan Stroud) is a must-read if you love fantasy. It's IMO by far the best fantasy series out there in terms of plot, character, everything. Another suggestion is the Demonata Saga (by Darren Shan), but it's pretty damn violent, so only people interested in Dark Fantasy will like it. EDIT: Percy Jackson is also good. Modern fantasy. ...Yeah, I only read fantasy books.
IceDorago
Main series that I tend to read are Warriors and Percy Jackson and its sequel series. I hear the Hunger Games books are good but I'm too lazy to go to the library and get the series to try it.

Not-so-Radiant Arin
The Children of First Man......is probably the best book you will ever read, hands-down.
With the award winning Panther in the Sky, James Alexander Thom enhanced his already impressive reputation as a master of historical fiction. Thom's monumental new novel, The Children of First Man, is an epic in the grand tradition that intertwines history, legend, fact, and fable to reincarnate the 700-year-journey of the mysterious White Indian Tribe through the heart of the American Continent. Three hundred years before Columbus, a Welsh Prince named Madoc - an invincible blond giant of a man - crossed the Atlantic with a fleet of Wooden Boats to plant a colony in the paradise he called Iarghal. For countless generations Prince Madoc's blue-eyed descendants migrated along the great waterways of the primeval New World, mingling their blood, legends, and dreams with the native peoples. And as pandemics raged, love and marriage flourished, and savage wars erupted, Prince Madoc's vision of peace with the natives of Iarghal was forgotten. But his spirit of chivalry lived on in the people who called themselves the Mandans. With it's beautifully written and deeply felt descriptions of the feelings of the first whites and Native Americans had for each other, The Children of First Man tells the fascinating story of a European people gradually absorbed into the Amerindian culture until their literacy was lost, and their Christian religion submerged in the legend of Madoc, the First Man. Sweeping from the blood-soaked castles of medieval Wales to the landmark expedition of Lewis and Clark, from the hushed beauty of virgin wildernesses to the Mandan villages of doomed earthen lodges, The Children of First Man is a triumph of the storyteller's art.
Wonderfully fantastic book. One of the most inspirational books I have read to date.

Umbra
If you want to take a step up from all this kiddish fantasy that's been suggested so far, take a look at The Dark Tower. Series of seven books: I can heartily recommend them all. Read them in order: The Gunslinger comes first.

bury the year
Two books that immediately come to mind and would recommend to anyone: "The Kin" by Peter Dickinson - Four kids grow up in prehistoric Africa, at the dawn of man. Might sound boring, but the way the author did so much with so little makes it a really engrossing concept. It's ~600 pages, so a bit of a doorstopper, but trust me, it flies. "The Boneshaker" by Kate Milford - This one I read more recently. It's steampunk set in 1900-ish Missouri, and is so creative and mindbending that... well... I can't give it justice, because to explain it spoils the appeal. Plus, there's pictures! :'D
Agro
The Hammer by K.J. Parker and Nightfall by Isaac Asimov The Hammer is an alternate history book that you'll better understand by reading its back cover; Nightfall is known by many as the best sci-fi story ever written about a planet where night only comes once every 1,000 years and how people react to it. Spawned from a quote from Earnest Hemmingway, it is both a short story and a novel, but you'll do better just to read the original short story.
