Lunar Origins
A large crowd had gathered around the makeshift dock of the Lyla. It was high noon- the sun was directly above the Lyla's brass hull and it was scorching hot. Many of the Avien gathered around were using their own wings as makeshift shade, though this did not help much. All eyes were focused on a singular man, who unlike the Avien lacked wings. He was dressed quite sharply and held a cigarette in one hand, raising it to his mouth every so often to take a whiff. "My name is Captain Alius Skie, as if any of you do not know that by now. I understand that all of you have come here to the Lyla seeking escape from this place that you call home," He said. Several murmurs of agreement were heard throughout the crowd. "but I do believe that I am only able to accept a maximum of five members for my crew." Angry cries were heard from various members of the crowd. "Only five? Your ship is huge, it looks like it can easily fit 30, if not more!" Yelled one particularly brazen Avien. He was right, though. The Lyla was extremely large- the length of it was at least 100 feet. "I thought one of you would say that." Captain Alius took a drag of his cigarette. "But if I brought a large amount of people, supplies would run out. Fast." He finished off his cigarette and flicked its remains over the edge of the islet into the sky. "Now, if you would like to apply to be on-board as part of the crew, you will have to go through an interview first." Alius gestured for his right hand man to take point at the door of the Lyla. "Shiki, if you would please stay at the entrance and let people in one by one, that would be very nice." Alius waved to the crowd and retreated back inside the Lyla, sitting down in the 'entry' room. He was quite interested to see what kinds of people that the Avien had to offer. Chuckling at that thought, hi lit another cigarette as he waited for Shiki to let them in for an interview. Raine
Cecil walked on board, inspecting all the metal and pipework from the bridge to the interior. He hid his hands in the other's sleeve, "Fascinating, such technology," He removed his hand and brushed his finger against the copper pipework and the gears until he noticed his curiosity was being watched. He moved away, "follow the leader for now, I suppose." Cecil smiled a moment, in dream of finding the secrets. Those blueprints would go for a king's fortune. He digressed, he needed to get hired first. Cecil moved quietly down the mechanical interior, he glanced lightly at the others. He disliked working professional with others, difference in opinion makes a decision too long and possibly dangerous... plus he doesn't like arguing, kills are easier than politics. Oh well, he was set on putting behind 'most' of his violence behind him. His hand touching a hot pipe while he walked, "Damn," he recoiled, "ship of metal and heat, things like this are dangerous." He moved and bit the burn on the back of his hand. He arrived behind, the others and pushed his way through to sit beside the door. He wanted to get this interview out of the way, and get outside. Work is fine but these conditions are new to him. He disliked the ship already, but his mind was still set. "What a pain," he sighed. He turned to the right hand, "May I volunteer?" TotalObelisk
The ship that the strange wingless man had arrived in was easily visible from across the city as it towered over the other buildings and cast a long and dark shadow. It somehow put Tari at ease, her normally bitter personality taking a back seat to something far more relaxed. She didn’t know what it was about the structure before her, whether it was the fact that it could fly or that it was so impressive in its design, but somehow she took a liking to it almost immediately. Once she reached the place where the ‘ship’ was anchored however her mood darkened once again as she saw the crowd of people milling around it, blocking her path. Tari heaved a heavy sigh and rolled her eyes, pulling up the hood of her white long-coat as she joined the ever growing throng of people, much to her chagrin. Even with this crowd she could easily see the man who called himself ‘Captain Alius’, not only for the lit cigarette he was puffing on but also for the fact that, out of all the crowd of people surrounding his vessel, he was the only one without a pair of wings. Tari herself could barely even understand how he could cope without them, she may be unable to fly but her wings certainly came in handy for not only her job but things like shelter, shade and other uses that she always thought necessary for survival. She wasn’t about to voice this opinion out loud though, she had no intention of insulting the captain. After making his announcement the man went back inside his ship and another man, presumably his assistant, began letting members of the crowd in one by one for what the captain had claimed to be an ‘interview’. Needless to say the process was tedious due not only to the crowd’s size but also due to the interviews themselves taking quite some time each. Tari was beginning to grow restless, the shade of her feathers darkening slightly as this happened. “This better not take long,” she thought “The sooner I can leave here the better.”
Kakashi Hatake
"Only five openings, huh?" Kokuto thought to himself, as he made his way through the crowd, towards the Lyla. He wasn't really worried about not being chosen, but what awaited him if he was. Using his hand to shade his face, he walked down the makeshift dock and made his way up to the Lyla, excusing himself as he pushed through the crowd. When he arrived at the entrance of the large ship, he looked out over the crowd of Avien people. He had never seen this many wings gathered in the same location. Dark wings, broken wings, beautiful wings, and he even thought he saw someone with wings almost change color, but he brushed it off as the heat getting to him. As Kokuto saw this "Shiki" person, he gave 'em a friendly smile as he waited for entrance. He walked down and took a seat on a small plank of wood, lying on the side of the dock. He looked around and saw several people that he had previously seen while wandering the city but never took the time to introduce himself. Most people knew him anyways as the kind and hardworking handyman. Kokuto was thinking about the people he saw. Thinking about what they'll be like if they get picked. He looked over and saw a rather laid back man with hair longer than his own and chuckled to himself. "There sure are some real "characters" here.." as he looked down at his gloved hands and realized that he hadn't the place to describe others in this way, because he was quite the "character" as well.
Agro
Out of all the people gathered around the Lyla, Emrys could find maybe two or three that he knew fit the description of what the adventurer, Alius, was looking for. He had been watching the crowd from the shadows of the buildings surrounding the dock for hours, trying to get a sense of who on the island wanted to join this adventure. Emrys's left wing batted a fly away from his ear as he tried to decide his chances of getting accepted. Even if there were only three that he knew could make it, he was completely unsure of any Avien that he'd never met. Which brought him to a second line of thought: when to jump into the line. He didn't want to go in too early, and risk of getting forgotten among the masses would be greater in that case. Going last could ruin his chances depending on how tired Alius and his assistant, Shiki, were and that point. Smirking, he looked down at his feet. "Oh well. Better make a move now." Slowly, he began to step forward, gently pushing his way through the eager crowd. He could probably make a scene and get in to the interview early, a move that would erase any of the problems he'd explained, but that wasn't his style. Finally stopping a third of the way through the pack, he looked over the crowd one more time. Though he was sure he didn't need to get in, he sure as hell wanted to, and if this would be the only chance he'd get to go on an adventure like this, he'd punish himself for the rest of his life for missing it. Emrys smirked in anticipation, as his eyes came to rest and locked with those of the assistant, Shiki, he thought, maybe, he might just have a chance. .:Blu:.
Arriving at the Avien city, Shiki was full of excitement. With widened eyes, Shiki, standing besides Alius, looked in awe at the massive crowd of "humans with wings", or at least that's what Shiki thought of them at the time. "(Whoa, I-I can't believe my eyes...)" Shiki thought to himself as he continued to stare at the large crowd of people in amazement. Suddenly, Alius began talking which snapped Shiki out of his state of amazement. Then, Alius announced that he would be accepting five Aviens to become crew members of Lyla. Shiki was pleasantly surprised by Alius' announcement. Shiki looked to Alius but didn't say anything. He just felt quite excited and nervous at the same time. However, many of the Aviens weren't too happy about the fact that Lyla is so incredibly spacious but Alius would only be accepting five individuals. However, Alius explained that supplies would run out soon if they had too many people, or more appropriately, too many Aviens. However to Shiki, he simply viewed them as winged people. Later, Alius explained that those who want to become a part of his crew must first go through an interview and Shiki would be the one to let people into the interview. Hearing this, Shiki immediately pointed to himself in slight confusion. "M-Me?" Shiki muttered but soon, Alius went back inside, leaving Shiki at the entrance. Shiki looked back to the crowd, now feeling even more nervous then before. Some individuals among the Aviens then looked towards Shiki. One guy gave a friendly smile at Shiki to which Shiki returned the smile, but it was a more nervous smile, and another person looked deeply into Shiki's eyes; that individual's stare was quite intense. Then, a male Avien approached Shiki and asked if he could volunteer. "Yeah of course, go right in." Shiki replied with a friendly tone. "(Well, that's one person.)" Shiki thought. Lunar Origins
Alius laid back in his chair as Shiki had let in the very first Avien to come aboard the Lyla. "Thank you, Shiki!" He yelled enthusiastically. This particular Avien looked quite good, even by human standards. Alius cracked a smile at the thought. Another thing that he noticed about this 'man' was that had attempted to hide his wings under a formal white cloth. 'How odd! If I had wings, I would flaunt them around like no tomorrow!' Thought Alius, his grin growing wider. He took off his spectacles and wiped them with a small cloth. A small steam whistle had sounded off in another room- this meant that fueling was finally complete, and that they could set off at any given time now. "Well, it appears that we are finished fueling!" Alius exclaimed. He took notice that this Avien had one of his hands gloved- this was odd to him. "Well, you seem different than the other Aviens that I've met on my journeys to the city. Tell me more about yourself and what you do. Please, have a seat." Alius gestured towards a chair directly opposite him. In between the chairs was a crystalline chess board, Alius' personal favorite. He smiled and brought out another cigarette, lighting it with a quick flick of his lighter.
TotalObelisk
Tari noticed at least one Avian being let in, taking it to mean that the person had been accepted as part of the crew meaning there where only 4 spaces left. Tari wasn't nervous but the situation hardly set her at ease, not helped by the fact that the remaining crowd where now more anxious than ever and jostling for a place, leading Tari to get knocked about slightly. "Would you cut that out," she snapped, elbowing a man who had just barged past her. The offending person was about to retaliate before Tari stealthily drew a dagger from within her coat and pressed it against the man's abdomen, not saying a word but giving him a clear look of 'make trouble and I gut you'. The message seemed to get across successfully and the man put significant distance between himself and Tari. Satisfied, Tari stowed her weapon away and finally reached the front of the crowd, standing before the entrance to the ship and finally able to take it in. Her gaze flicked to the man, Shiki, with a very stony stare but said nothing, waiting expectantly.
.:Blu:.
After letting the first Avien in, Shiki continued standing at the entrance to control the crowd and to not let any individuals inside until the first interview has finished. "Hey I wanna interview for a spot!" one Avien shouted. "Yes, yes, but first you need to wait for the other guy to come out." Shiki told the impatient Avien. "Why can't I get my interview first?! I'm much more fit and strong than that other Avien who just walked in!" the impatient Avien complained. "Hey I don't make the rules okay, I just enforce 'em. Besides, if what you're saying is true then that means the other guy would get rejected. Simple as that." Shiki replied. "Also, if you're saying you're so fit, then once you get your interview then you would be accepted. Until then, wait your turn like the rest please." Shiki stated. "Arrg, why you punk! I told you to let me in now!" the Avien shouted. Suddenly, Shiki's forehead was placed against the impatient Avien's forehead, and Shiki gave an intense glare at him. "I said to wait your turn..." Shiki repeated. Hearing Shiki's tone, the man suddenly backed up into the crowd again. "Thanks!" Shiki said with a friendly smile afterwards. Shiki then noticed a female Avien in the crowd giving him a stony stare. "(Jeez, what's with that look anyway?)" Shiki asked himself before turning away from her look. Raine
Cecil chuckled, as he picked up the bishop piece with two fingers inspecting it, "Wonderful set." He kept his grin, "I do apologize, I am not casual about telling myself. Forgive me, I am, " he coughed, "was... in the information trade. Its in my nature to always have the upper hand." He placed the piece down and put his hands back in the sleeves, "Yes, i do hide my wings. No reason in particular, I just have no fond pride in my people's... enhancement..." Cecil's eyes narrowed, "This ship is certainly a marvel, such power and technology. No wonder your the talk of the town." He remained silent for a moment, "HAHAHA," He placed his gloved hand behind his head, "I've gone off topic again." Cecil's laughter stopped and eye's narrowed, "Listen, if it's about the job. I am a man of all trades, though i can't at the moment, it won't take long until I could start learning the ship and possible helping in repairs. My strengths depend on intelligence and cleverness, you can find a half-ton of brawn on every street corner. However, I am here to help you... help me... help you." Cecil swiped the cigarette from Alius in a flash, "A mutual partnership, I can steal, infiltrate, build, manage, and kill. We have similar goals, "Cecil stole a smoke from it, "I believe... you need someone like me. I will be your sword, "he moved to hand it back, "I am willing... the question is... are you? ...partner?," Cecil grinned.
Lunar Origins
"I do believe that was quite rude of you to snatch my cigarette." Alius laughed as he finished the sentence. He quickly swiped the cigarette back and took a whiff of it. "You have a way with words, Cecil." He picked up a pawn and toyed around with it in his fingers. "You said we have similar goals- I take no pleasure in stealing, infiltrating, and killing, but I most certainly do love building." He placed the pawn onto its respective area on the chess board and sighed. "Anyways, you are on board. I'll be watching you, though." Alius gestured towards the wall behind him, which suddenly opened into a long hall with doors on each side, each numbered from 01 to 10. "You are room... 7. You might find the living area a bit roomy, but it's all for your own comfort." ____________________________________ LATER THAT DAY... ---------------------------------------------------------- Alius nonchalantly cracked his knuckles as he stood in front of his new crew; he was quite happy with the diversity of the Avien! The man he had interviewed first was named Cecil; Alius couldn't bring himself to fully trust this man, but for now he would put differences aside. "You all made it!" He clasped his hands together and smiled as he said this. They were all out on the deck- the sun was starting to set and night was beginning to fall. Alius turned around to look at the sunset. "Are you all ready to set out to into the great sky?" He chuckled and held his arms out as if to signify the immensity of it. He put his hands down and turned back towards his crew. "Alright, we will be setting off in exactly one hour. I would like you to take this time to get to know those around you!" He spoke as if he were radiating happiness; nothing could ruin his day today. ----------------------------------------------------------- After Alius' short 'speech', Skell let out a small laugh. This man seemed 'a bit off of his rocker', as Skell's mother would say. He didn't really feel like mingling with the rest of the crew, though, and proceeded down towards the stair shaft. ------------------------------------------------------------ [ROOMS] [Room 01 - Tari Ovisk] Room 01 is a very homely looking room, with furniture crafted out of exquisite mahogany and brass. [Room 03 - Kokuto] Room 03 is more industrial looking- various pipes run through it and the general atmosphere is quite chaotic. [Room 07 - Cecil Seraphim] Room 07 is a quaint room; here one can find their inner peace and easily relax. [Room 09 - Emrys Luce] This room is very white and modern; you will find it easy on the eyes and quite nice to stay in, if white is your thing. [Room 10 - Skell Chrybadis] This room is basically like the rest of the ship- gears, steam, and pipes.
Agro
Emrys sighed as Alius stepped away from the group and over to the cockpit. No one had moved to greet each other, even after Alius's suggestion. One, whom had been introduced as Skell, had actually left the deck entirely. Looking at the crew, he could tell how nervous each of them probably was. It wasn't something that surprised him, not many Avien's had actually been aboard an airship before; Emrys certainly hadn't. Calmly and without much hesitation from the others, he began to edge his way over to the guard rail off to the side. He had read somewhere about seasickness, a phenomenon that most Avien's would not understand, considering how small the lakes and ponds on their island were. It was a feeling he wasn't sure he was ready for, and one he wasn't sure how he'd handle, but as he held onto the guard rail with a firm grasp, even if the ship wasn't moving for another hour or so, he looked as confident and sturdy as he'd ever been. Only question would be: how would the others react to the feeling?
Kakashi Hatake
After listening to Alius' short speech, Kokuto watched Skell walk away, then turned to his fellow "crew-mates". He looked each of them up and down carefully, as if inspecting them for imperfections, but doing it unnoticed. "Well, I guess I'll go first then. Name's Kokuto. I like a lot of things and I dislike very little. My strengths are things like building, destroying, and many other things. I'd rather not talk about my weaknesses. He greatest weakness would be obvious if shown, but he doubted that anything on this metal plated "ship" would feed that weakness. Everything was bronze and brazen. Kokuto remembered seeing this man in the crowd and gave a slight grin then turned back to the woman whom he had just extended the gesture towards.
TotalObelisk
The next few hours passed surprisingly quickly and before Tari knew it the crew had been picked (her included) and they where now standing atop the deck of Alius ship. Looking over the side Tari could still see a few spectators down on the docks, looks of both anticipation and bitter dissapointment on their faces as they waited for the ship to leave. She turned her attention back to Alius himself as he announced that the ship would be leaving in an hour and that they should use that time to get aquanted. Tari frowned nervously, interacting with people was not what she did best. While one of their company went over to lean on the side rails another began the introductions, introducing himself as Kokuto and extending his hand warmly in Tari's direction. Tari took the hand offered to her, slightly taken aback by it but shook it warmly nonetheless, taking note of the man's tattered appearance and the bandages over his head. "Pleasure," she said simply "You can call me Tari, I'm..." she paused, thinking it would be unwise to divulge her true proffesion to a group of strangers "...I usually work as 'hired help'" she half lied, wondering if any of the others noticed the pause in her introduction. Kakashi Hatake
"Tari is a fitting name." He said in a friendly voice. With Tari's hand still in his, he gently pulled her forward and turned her towards the silver-haired man. Putting his hand on top of Tari's head, he said to the man since he was the only other person still there, "So, you heard us. I'm Kokuto and this is Tari. Would you like to introduce yourself?" He then turned his head towards the railing and said, "Hey, guy. C'mon over and give us something to call you unless you wanna be stuck with "Deck-Rail Guy"!" Kokuto figured that the people here weren't the kind to "mingle" but he was trying to lighten the mood. Gesturing towards the stairwell, he said, "We'll just have to find that other guy later, but I doubt he wants to talk to us." After saying that, Kokuto realized that Tari had said, "Hired help". He was tryin' to figure out what she meant. Maybe cleaning? or maybe and instructor? or maaaybe she was a gun for hire. He kinda just shrugged that last one off and waited for the answer from the other two crew-mates.
Agro
Emrys scratched his head as he heard the other crew members call out to him. Hell, he'd heard it all anyway, so they probably didn't even need to yell out to him like that. Anxiously, but surely, he finally edged his way back towards them. Extending his hand first to the one who had called. "Emrys Luce. Pleasure to meet you." He looked around, surveying the group, knowing that to them, all they were seeing was the face of a shy newcomer. "I hope we can all work well together." He looked at the man holding the girl rather awkwardly beside him, awaiting their response.
.:Blu:.
After a few hours, Alius had chosen his crew members, and Shiki was ecstatic to meet them all. Shiki also noticed that there were still Aviens outside inspecting the sky ship, something understandable considering they have never seen such a thing before. "Man, I wonder what other amazing things are hidden in the skies..." Shiki spoke to himself quietly. Suddenly, Shiki remembered that Alius was giving his speech and turned his attention back to Alius. Listening to the speech, when Alius asked if they were ready to set to the skies, Aki excitedly answer. "Of course! Let's go search for more fantastic wonders the skies have to offer!" Aki exclaimed, punching his fist into the air and leaping up. After telling the crew that they would be departing in an hour and leaving them to get acquainted, one of the crew member, Skell, let out a laugh and left, not wanting to partake in the socialization. Seeing this, Shiki watched as Skeell left with a slightly annoyed expression. "(Jeez, what's his problem?)" Shiki thought. Shiki stayed quiet with a smile on his face as everybody introduced each other. Shiki felt relieved as the initial tension was broken by Kokuto, and after everybody introduced themselves, Shiki decided that he should introduce himself to the new crew members. "Hi there everybody! Name's Shiki and I'm kinda like the handyman and mechanic around here. I take care of most of the ship's needs though sometimes the captain has to step in and fix complex problems himself. Anyways, I'm glad you guys decided to join the crew. This'll be great, all of us exploring the vast skies on our ship! Oh, just a question, does anyone know how to cook? Cause we've basically lived off of rations and let me tell ya, they aren't that appetizing." Shiki told everybody.
Agro
Emrys looked awkwardly at Kokuto and Tari, praying to god that they would say yes to the question Shiki had posed. With slight agitation as the seconds passed, he raised his hand to slightly to garner their attention, a move he hoped wouldn't lead to what he thought it would. "I can cook a bit. I've been living by myself for a few years, so I've picked up a few things." Emrys looked at the others hopefully, "Though it might be best if there was someone else who could cook."
