*knew about the extra jump when it came out*

On a serious note, thats why I absolutely adore the detonator. Its extremely helpfun on 2fort, and from the top of the buildings, you can make the jump to get onto the top of the bridge, and make it up top of the opposing building. Kewl stuff.

I think the jump in early beta was even more powerful than it is now, though.

I knew about the jump, it's just that before the buff about a month ago, it was utter crap.

Some lucky guy found The Phlogistonator on a server I was playing today. Wish I was that lucky.

Yeah, although really I still don't like it. Advanced jumping as pyro (where it isn't really super useful) is a lot to lose most of the power of your secondary for. I wouldn't mind seeing the detonator buffed indirectly in the form of a primary or melee that complements it.

Edit: Even though I think dg/axtinguisher would still be fairly nice with it, but I think that is pretty strong anyway without advanced mobility.

Not to toot my own horn, but I'm deadly accurate with it, too (that video of me sniping that Spy wasn't all luck). Combined with multiple ignitions when detonated, I have no problem killing with it, even though it mini-crits instead of full crits.

Where it's real power shines is when you and a Manmelter Pyro farm 30+ crits in the setup.

Wait, you can farm manmelter crits? How does that work?

EDITEDITEDIT: Oh, while we are talking about the detonator and so forth, the crit exploit makes the detonator useful, but I don't think abusing glitches is a good habit to get into.

While Pyros don't suffer afterburn, for a split second when they are hit by fire damage, they're technically alight, which is how stuff like flare punching works.

For the Manmelter, holding alt-fire absorbs flames for guaranteed crits, so one Pyro can repetitively hurt himself with the Detonator (preferably next to the a resupply closet, dispenser, or medic), and for the split second he's on fire, the Manmelter can absorb that, easily racking up crits during times like setup.

I've only done it during 1 match so far, and my friend and I were just messing around for fun.

Well, not fully immune, just 90%.

I've heard some stories of people with low health taunting with the Phlog despite having not enough MMMPH, and the enemies fleeing allowed them to escape. Yay for trolling. XD

Taunting with the Pyro is now a bluff?
Oh god that is hilarious xD

The 90% is really useful, and many find it to be OP. The only times I've died during the taunt so far is backstabbing or if a Heavy gets right in my face.

I think aside from the Spy, the Pyro is the best for mindgames. His afterburn affects decisions in various ways, he can heckle from a distance with flares to halt enemies, Spies are already afraid enough of them as is, and now he has the Phlog taunt. :3

Hey, does anyone have the Buzz Killer for the Engy or the Under Cover for the Spy that they'd be willing to trade?

While I've only died to a backstab a couple times normally I get beat to hell during the taunt causing me to die soon after.

I have a Buzz Killer. What would you give up for it?

Sure, I don't use my Short Circuit so I'd be happy to trade. My favorite server has holiday/season restrictions off, so I can always use my Halloween stuff there. ^.^

Just add me when you can: http://steamcommunit...61198023509463/

It only being 90% really hurts since if I see a few enemies caping a point I jump in, do the taunt and by the time I can attack I'm half dead again.

That's exactly why this weapon is ridiculous - you shouldn't be able to survive doing that in the first place!
