“Next, I'll go to my Battle Phase, and tribute my Traveler's Guide, to use her effect and summon Kiron – The Traveler from my hand”

 

 

“Then I'll activate my face down card, Travel in Mist”

 

“So now, Kiron can attack your life points directly. So Kiron – The Traveler, attack Koji's life points directly.”

A thick fog sets in on the field, and Kiron dashes threw the fog, past Koji's monster and strikes Koji across the chest with his blade. Koji drops to the ground clutching his chest, even when your used to the pain, 1900 points of damage hurt, especially when it leaves you with less then 1000 points to stand on.

 

“Now Koji only has 900 life points left and then, during your standby phase Shiina's Third Code takes you down to 200 life points. So, this is going to be your last turn. I place 1 card face down, and end.”

“This is working out perfectly, Koji will be gone by next turn, then we will only have Hizaki to take care of

 

“My last turn huh, big words.”

Koji says threw gridded teeth as he struggles back to his feet. He could make a come back if he could only get the pain under control

 

I've come to far to let these kids ruin my plans now

 

“I activate Sunset on the Horizon”

 

“I'm not out of this game yet, I use this card so summon these 3 monsters”

 

“Then Tempest's Ability activates, so I get to draw a card, hmm.. and I think ill keep it. So on to my next move. Now, I tribute the 3 monsters I just summoned in order to summon Higshiji - Kitsun Manden of the 7th Gate”

 

“Judging from the fact that you tributed for that face down monster I would say it has a nice amount of points, right, So, Higshiji, attack Yuzen's defense monster”

 

“Your assumption is correct. My monster is Shisara-The Traveler

 

 

Perfect

“So now my Kitsun Monden's Ability activates, and I gain life points equal to your monsters defense points, and she has 2700. So now, even when I end and take 1500 points of damage I still have 1400 points left, and am still very much in the game”

 

 

“Let me see if I can fix that, I draw”

This isn't good, for a moment it seemed like this duel was going to be easy, but they both made power plays, which one do I hit first.. can I even make a swing like this.. lets see, what can I come up with”

 

“I'll change my Fourth Code into a monster in defense mode. Then I'll summon the Fifth Code as a spell card”

 

“Thats all”

thats not good enough, I need to make a better move then that if I'm going to help Yuzen finish this

 

“Hehe, weakling, all you can do is defend eh, fine. I'll put you out of your misery. I draw, then my standby phase, so I take another 700 points because of your Third Code, and then, my two Wondering Souls that I sent to the graveyard last turn come to the field.”

 

“Next, Ill set one monster in face down defense mode, and then I'll attack Kiron – The Traveler with my Cursed Reaper Xilroth, dealing you 900 points of damage, then I'll end.”

 

I'm loosing life points, they both have monsters bigger then 2500 out, but I have a trick up my sleeve

“I will start by drawing, then my standby phase has a few tricks of its own, I get to special summon back to the field Ijanmi – the Traveler, and Seronus-The Traveler.”

 

“So first, im going to draw 2 cards, and then Seronus's effect activates and I get to remove 1 card on the field from the game. And I choose Higshiji - Kitsun Manden”

 

“You know, I had a feeling you would try something like that, so I placed this face down, Counter Spell Mau”

 

“Thanks again to my Alchemist Brothers I'm safe. So, you got anything else?”

 

“Yeah, I do. I said last turn was going to be your last and it will be. Now, I tribute Both Ijanmi and Seronus, in order to summon Shilvalyos-The Traveler”

“He is instantly removed from the game, but I have this too, my face down card, Journeys Start”

 

“So using this, I bring Arcturus-The Traveler and Shilvalyos-The Traveler back into play. And when Shilvalyos is special summoned, his effect activates and removes every monster on the field from play until the end of turn. So now, your wide open. Shilvalyos, attack his life points directly”

Shilvalyos draws itself up to its full hight, then opens its mouth. A large blue sparking ball of energy forms in its jaw and he fires the large blast at Koji.

 

“I'm not out of cards yet, I still have one last trick to save me. I discard from my hand Denmina - An image of the fallen”

 

“And I have 7 monsters in the Graveyard. So that leaves me with 200 life points left.”

As the attack comes speeding towards Koji, Denmina appears in front of him and shields him from the attack, but she is obliterated by the ball and the explosion after it still hits Koji full on

 

“Which will still be enough for you to be finished. But for now I place 1 more face down and end, bringing everyones monsters back to the field.”

 

“All right then, I draw”

 

“And then you go to your standby phase, where my Third Code deals you 700 points of damage and finishes you off”

 

“Not so fast, I still have 1 more card to play. I activate The Partners Last Gift”

 

 

“So, Hizaki, here” He said limping over to his partner and handing him a card. ”Keep my dream alive with that card, will yeah”

”We are just fighting on the same team in a tag duel, we are not friends. But as a fellow warrior, I will keep your spirit alive” Hizaki replies, taking the card from Koji with a stern look in his eye. Koji nodes, then limps back to where he was standing before. Eyes closed, he stands in acceptance as the platform under his feet vanishes and he falls into the dark depth below.

 

“Well, thats the end of him, and so the end of his turn,”

 

“That horrible, your partner was just sent to the shadows and all you care about is continuing the duel”

Shiina screamed at him, filled with rage for his lack of care, and fear about the outcome of this duel.

 

“I told you, he is simply the one I am dueling with, nothing more. This is the fate of heavenly bodies. And this duel is still going. Now draw your card girl or I will take my turn.”

 

“OK, fine, I'll go. I draw my card, and then...

I cant let that happen to Yuzen, I need to find a way to beat him before Yuzen falls

“... all right, I set one monster face down and end”

good luck Yuzen,

 

“My turn, I draw, and take my last 700 points from that card of yours”

”I flip up my down monster, Shade’s Reaper

 

“And use his effect to destroy your Third Code”

I just need to keep them having one or less monster, I can do that

“Now I will tribute my Shade's Reaper, to summon Shelida Masterful Necromancer”

 

“Now, I will attack Yuzen's Shilvalyos-The Traveler with my Cursed Reaper Xilroth, dealing you 200 points of damage. Then, Shelida will attack your Arcturus, dealing you another 40 points and clearing your field, I place one card face down, and end.”

 

“Then its my turn, and I'll start by finishing the effect of Traveler's Ascension, its been 2 turns so I get to send it to the Graveyard to draw a card. Next I'll play one card face down and a monster in defense mode. Thats all for now.”

 

“Then I'm up”

He may have a stronger monster out, but between to of us we should be able to make a comeback

“Now, I tribute my down monster, to summon The Sixth Code”

 

“Then I use the effect of my Arcane Tome to change him into a spell card, then I end”

 

“I start.”

I need to take one of them out fast or I might get over my head

“I Think its about time to take Yuzen out of the picture.”

 

“Xilroth, attack his defense monster and clear the field for his end.”

 

“I'm not going anywhere, and neither is my monster, I activate my face down card, my second Blowing in the Wind”

 

“So now I discard 1 card from my hand to remove your Cursed Reaper Xilroth from the game”

 

“A minor set back, He will be back next turn, in the mean time, I will still attack your monster with Shelida”

 

“My monster is Empusa-the traveler”

 

“So its not going anywhere still, you loose 60 life points, and I assume that ends your turn”

 

“Yeah, I end”

 

“Good, I draw. My Standby Phase, so Empusa removes itself from the game.

 

“Then I place one card face down and one a monster in defense mode, I guess thats it”

Sorry Shiina, I need a little more time

 

“Right, I'm up again. I'll start by changing my Sixth Code into a monster again and set 1 monster.”

 

“Now its my turn to attack, so Sixth Code, attack Shelida Masterful Necromancer.”

The Sixth Codes hands begin to swirl with energy, then placing his hands together he fires a blast of magical energy which engulfs and obliterates Shelida.

 

now he is at least back in the 4000s

“I end”

 

“Trying to fight back now are we, fine. I draw. Next I'll activate my face down card, Rally the Dead”

 

“So I bring back my Shelida Masterful Necromancer and she gains 700 attack points. Next, I will remove 1 Skeleton Guard #2 and a Deaths List Reaper to summon Zailzaayam Necronom”

 

“Now I use the effects of my Graveyard wanderers in my Graveyard”

 

“So for each one, I get to take one zombie removed from the game and bring it into my Graveyard, so I get back to my Graveyard my Skeleton Guard #2, Deaths List Reaper, and Cursed Reaper Xilroth that where removed from the game.”

 

“Now, Shelida will attack The Fourth Code and Zailzaayam Necronom with Sixth Code clearing Shiina's field and dealing her 200 points of damage.”

 

“I guess thats enough for now, I end”

 

“Not so fast, I discard Arcane Defender from my hand”

 

“So I can bring back my Sixth Code to the field. Now its Yuzens turn”

 

Its going to take an army to get past his defenses, so I guess thats what I need to pull out

“My move, and Empusa comes back from removed from play and its ability activates, dropping all other monsters ATK and DEF points until end of turn. Next, I activate Path Of the Traveler.”

 

“So I remove 8 monsters in my Graveyard from the game, and gain 800 life points. Then I activate Traveler's Resting Spot”

 

“So my Travelers don't vanish anymore. Thats all I can do for now, so I end”

 

“Then its my turn. And I'll start with summoning another The Fourth Code, as a spell card. And so my Sixth Code gets 300 more attack points making him a 2700.”

 

“Now The Sixth Code, attack Shelida Masterful Necromancer, its not much damage, but it gets ride of her”

 

“Thats it for me, I end”

 

“Your so infuriating, fine, I'm going to drop you first then. So first I remove a monster in my Graveyard from the game for Zailzaayam Necronom's ability, then I use a Graveyard Wanderer's effect to put it back in my graveyard. But now its time to finish this with the card Koji left me, So I tribute my 3 Wandering Souls to summon Deberoth – Great Beast of the 13th Gate”

 

“Now its time to send you to the Shadow Realm, Deberoth, attack her Sixth Code, and when he dose, I use his effect to destroy Yuzen's Empusa – The Traveler. And now, with your field cleared, Zailzaayam Necronom attacks Shiina's life points directly, finishing her off, and ending my turn.”

 

As the monsters attack hits Shiina, she gives one short look over at Yuzen, but the look in her eyes was not fear or dread or sorrow, she was smiling. She knew her friend would win, and find a way to bring her back. Smile on her face, the floor under her feet vanishes, and she falls into the abyss.

 

”I will find a way to bring you back Shiina, but first. I am going to finish you off Hizaki”

 

Fire in his eyes, Yuzen turns back to face his opponent, ready to start the turn that will take Hizaki down

 

“My move, and I'm ending this Shadow Game right now. I start by discarding 1 card from my hand for the effect of my Traveler's Resting Spot. Next, I have a slew of Travelers that I removed from the game last turn to summon to the field. So now, your Journey ends, Come forth, Seronus-The Traveler, Kiron-The Traveler, Ijanmi-The Traveler, and Gruthosis-The Traveler.”

 

“Finally I will send Arcturus-The Traveler and Morgana-The Traveler, from being removed from play to the graveyard in order to summon my most powerful card. Orchious-The Traveler”

“Now I will finish you, I will use Orchious's effect to remove Deberoth – Great Beast of the 13th Gate from the game by sending Shilvalyos-The Traveler from removed from play to the graveyard, and then, Orchious will attack Zailzaayam Necronom, clearing your field. Now, total assault on his life points with the rest of my monsters, finishing you. And this duel.”

 

With the last attack, as Hizaki falls into the shadows, the three podiums start to glow and there barriers fall away, revealing the 3 Divine monsters that where sealed away. Yuzen, feeling drained from the shadow game limps over to them looking the cards he lost his best friend for over.

Starting from the left, there was Dome Tari the Night Queen, Anar Anar King of Dawn, and Kalina Ar' Mori The Sun and Moon

 

So these where what those 3 have lost there lives for. It seemed like such a waist. The three cards seemed to be emanating a powerful aura, but all Yuzen could think about is trying to find a way to bring his friend back. And as he thought, the 3 cards spoke, as three voices, but as one

“Champion of Destiny, the boy who has survived our challenge, you have proven yourself worthy of our power. Speak your wish, and our power will grant it.”

Was he hearing things, or was this really the what they claimed it to be. Well, it couldn't hurt to ask, and so taking a deep breath he spoke back

“Well.. I want the ones that where lost to the shadows in this duel to return to this world, can you do that”

“Easily done” the cards replied and began to glow with a blinding light. When the light subsided, the three duelists who had fallen into darkness where standing behind the three podiums.

“It is done” the cars exclaimed “The now we must rest our power. Hizaki, you have failed our test, although you dueled with much might but not with heart, as such, you will not receive our blessing. As for the rest of you, we will rest in your decks, till the next time our power is needed.

Yuzen, you have dueled bravely, and even when your friend was lost, you did not give up, The King of Dawn, Anar Anar is under your supervision.

Shiina, you overcame your fears and pulled threw when it counted, although you did not make it to the end, you fought bravely. To you we entrust Dome Tari the Night Queen.

And Koji, you live in light and shadows, fighting with your heart for what you believe in, and throwing everything away for your dream, to you we present Kalina Ar' Mori The Sun and Moon.

"For now, our powers remain dormant. However, our powers will be revield in time"

Now, all three of you, return to your normal lives at Duel Academy, till our power is required again.”

 

The glow from the cards stopped and the voices went silent. Hizaki had left threw the gates while the others received there cards, and now the three where left to finish up.

 

“Return to Duel Academy? Koji?”

“Yeah, I'm in Ra Yellow back at the school. I haven't been there in a while because of this little adventure, the shadows told me that if I could win this duel then I can have anything I wanted, so I took a break from school for this. Now I'm ready to go back, so I'll see you back there”

 

Koji seemed like a completely different person after the duel and so, after he left the two friends looked at each others puzzled then started laughing, he wasn't as dark as they thought and maybe they would get to know him better later at school.

 

The two friends left the chamber hand in hand like when they entered, they emerged at the mouth of the volcano as the sun was beginning to peak over the horizon. They had been dueling all night, and as a new day dawned, new adventures hung on the horizon for them. The champions of destiny had passed there first test, but this was only the beginning, along with a promise of a new day, shadows loomed on the horizon, and it was there fate and duty to defend everyone from them. But for now, victory was theres, and they could enjoy the sunrise as they gazed into the horizon, then turned and started back to school. Headmaster Harland would want to hear all about this.
