Kizzi
That you would have to ask permission for. If we combine it with Az's tag idea' date=' we could have the emblems have one of 3 coloured borders:[b']White:[/b] You can use my artwork freely and edit it as you wish. Grey/Silver: You can use my artwork though I ask you notify me when you do so. Black: YOU MUST ASK TO USE MY ART AT ALL TIMES. OR something like that.I just noticed a flaw. I think it should be:White: You can use my artwork freely and edit it as you wish. Light Grey/Silver: You can use my artwork though I ask you notify me when you do so. Dark Grey: You must ask me to use my art at all times.Black: You cannot use my artwork. That would stop some artists getting mad at loads of messages, lol. NP Sage
How do they plan on enforcing them? Every time a card comes up search ALL of DA to find if it came from there? Don't make a rule if you can't enforce it.

NP Sage
really how? Call every DA member 5 times a day and say hey is this yours? Doubt it I look for pics i like and then make cards usually 10 at a time I 'm not going to waste time doing that.
Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
If no one can tell if it's from dA, then what are the odds it is? And it can be enforced. Simple: if a raving dA member comes over screaming that his/her artwork was labeled unusable and taken anyway, accept the dA member and punish the thief. NP Sage
Then what if I make a new account to attack a member i don't like. If something gets copied from DA and posted somewhere else and they get it from a secondary source? We can't trace everything to the original owner. Just let them go, odds are its some bored member looking for a fight.
Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
Add "Not From dA" to the circulation section if you do that. If a rabid member says it is, then ask them to post a link to the original and then you can give credit. You're acting very much like a bored member looking for a fight yourself. SteamboatStitch
Look NP Sage, the fact is, things change. And for this forum to stay alive and not eventually be buried under copyright issues and DA Radicals, credit has to be given. Yes it's a hassle, yes, it means extra work for us. Can't find the original source of the art? Then don't use it. Someone accuses you of stealing art that you know is not stolen? Demand proof. In the end, your argument boils down to this: You don't want to do that little extra step. Maybe you're too busy? Maybe you think that the creators of the art you seem fit to let grace your card are not worth your precious time? Then perhaps you just need to stop making cards. You'll have plenty of time then. Tiberas
Well I wouldnt go as far as DONT USE IT. Use it for heavens sake! If it looks awesome, download it, marvel at it and do stuff to it (no innuendo intended). It shouldn't be too hard, however to put a simple I DID NOT DRAW THIS (maybe not in bold and attacking letters) on the cards. God Kaze has a great example :D And NP Sage, there's this thing called IP that the admins use to find double accounts :>

Tiberas
Well if you had the talent, it would be awesome for yourself wouldn't it? Won't have to rely on someone else's brain for a picture... This is why I don't do graphic design much anymore :P and if I do I make everything from scratch. Draco Straybyrn
CD, don't even think about being an ambassador. They would laugh at your speech. You have to be 13 to post there, anyway. NP Sage, if you don't want to give credit, enjoy a ban once the rule is enforced. Would you like it if I stole your cards and said they were mine? I don't think so.
Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
Une pointe excellente. BTW, do the administrators/webmasters of DeviantArt know this whole shenanigan is going on? If not, they probably ought to; dA members are destroying the YCM. Maybe some way to appoint dA ambassadsors? And who is appointing ambassadors here, anyway?
Tiberas
You guys will have to talk directly to the admins there about that. As far as I know (which might not be much...) Cubistar and I don't have any powers or influence on the leaders of DA. You have to understand, DA is a HUGE organization/company that is involved in merchandising, prints and advertising. Guest
hmm, it seems to me that, if we are really serious about this rule on ycmaker (which i am, and i think everyone should be), we might want to appoint special moderators to, well, moderate it. from what i read, it seems like the current moderators have enough work as it is, especially since Frunk left, so maybe having more mods would make it easier on the current ones, and make enforcing the rule on our end a whole lot easier. now, i know that we can't control what the DA artists do, but it might help things on our end. the special mods could also be the proposed "ambassadors" or w/e if such a thing is needed at any time, as they would be keeping up with who's obeying and who isn't. and, if a DA artist comes to the site claiming that their artwork is being used without permission, the special mods can be the ones who deal with them and keep everything civil and rule-abiding. just a thought, i really want this to work out for both ycmaker and DA. SteamboatStitch
Indeed it was. I just hope this reaches a peaceful solution. I've taken down well over half my cards (not all that much be told) in response to members of DA. And they were kind about it as well. In fact I didn't even know they were from DA, I thought Tehodis made them originally... *crosses fingers and hopes nothing overly bad happens to YCM ; ;*
Guest
*crosses fingers and hopes nothing overly bad happens to YCM ; ;* i'm sure the forum will be fine. it's only a few DA members that are really up in arms about it (at least, that's what it seems like to me....). once they see that we are perfectly willing to work with them to come up with a solution, i think they will come around and not flame or rant anymore. as long as we can all be civil, things should work out just fine ^_^
Kocrow17
NP Sage, this is not place of argument. It’s meant to promote peace and a better understanding between two parties. Ok, here’s what we need to address to get these plans in motion: 1. The “Logo/Emblem” for the DA members. What shall it look like, who should make it, etc. 2. Ambassadors/Representatives of both Forums. From this Forum, the choices seem obvious, but who do we contact on the DA side to help our cause? Should we create a banner for YCM/DA representatives for this forum to inform any invading DA member who we are? 3. Enforcing the new rules. As for the new moderators involved, I can’t promise anything. But I will be contacting YCMaker and making an official request for 2 new Custom Card Moderators. Junk Raver
If we all pull together Kaze, i believe it will work, but we need as much support as possible, mainly from the most respected members.
Guest
awesome, the more progress we make, the better i feel. it really looks like this is going to work. i may not be one of the "most respected members," but i will do all i can to make this thing work. and, i am nowhere near a good artist, but i just threw this together as a jumping off point for one of the banners. it's nothing special, and i'm sure someone else could make something better, but at least it's a start: this banner could be used by the ambassadors from this forum, and also by the extra mods so that visitors know who to go to with complaints or w/e. anyway, like i said, it's just a jumping off point so we at least have something of an idea. EDIT: actually, here's a slightly different one for the extra mods to use. that way, we can keep the ambassadors and mods separate: again, though, these are just ideas that we can go forward from. Mynt
Hello, all! I'm a member of deviantART and found out about this situation through someone's journal and I've read through this thread. I noticed a talk about tags that deviantART users could display to let members of this forum know if they allow their art used or not and I'd like to help you out. On deviantART, subscribed users are able to display in their journals or shoutboards neat little things called stamps. They're either made for fun or for other things but I was thinking an admin of this forum could make a deviantART account specifically used to upload stamps that explain what they mean (such as one stamp means members of this forum are free to use the art of the user who displays the stamp) and display the deviantART account in a stickied and locked thread. If a member of this forum wants to ask someone on deviantART permission to use art, they can link them with the admin's deviantART account and they can choose a stamp to display in their journal. However, not everyone on deviantART can afford a subscription, so they could just paste the link in their journals and make a note its for members of this forum. (encourage deviantART members to +watch the account in case they forget the stamp link!) If you follow through with the stamp idea for deviantART members to use, here is a blank template you can use to make the stamps: http://miksmote.deviantart.com/art/Stamp-Template-67643552 If you have any questions about stamps, feel free to PM me. I'll try to check here often. :
