IC:
Jake walked slowly down the road leading out of his little village, Stella flying close behind, "We got everything we need?" Jake asked, looking back at his fairy friend, "We should, I don't think we forgot anything," she replied, then flew up to him and started looking him over, "Lets see here, bottles, sword, map, food and water..." she muttered and went on with the list as she flew around him, "Yup, we should be alright to hunt those shards!" she told him cheerfully, then paused, "But... do you even know where to look? ...Or what the shards even look like?" she asked him slowly, Jake stopped in his tracks, "... uhh... I'm sure it'll be FINE!" Jake assured her, "Chances are, the challenge won't be FINDING the shards, it'll be GETTING them, so we should probably worry more about that"

A bright yellow light began to fall from the heavens, like a shooting star, however within the glow was two. The pair descended unto the ground below them, no tremors or anything, they landed softly kneeled to the ground and a fist on the floor. "Passer, we have arrived." A voice owned by the older figure said to the younger one. Suddenly the two spreaded their wings. Then the voice owned by the one addressed Passer responded to the elder figure. "Yes, master Aquila, it would appear as such." Then the pair stood up and the glow around them fadded away, revealing a tall, bald and muscular angel accompanied by a younger, brown haired younger angel. The bald one, addressed as Aquila, spoke again. "Passer, what did I teach you about the world below?" "You taught me that we are guests here and must not show pride nor arogance, but respect and patience as we Angels are not better than the dwellers of this earth, but rather we are all equals." "Very good my apprentice."

The empty glass, that once held water, hit the table making a slight noise. Nathan leaned back in the small, wooden chair that kept him from the ground and glanced at the ceiling. It was quite dirty for normal standards, but underground it was one of the more clean ones around. He stood up before making his way to the door to see what time of day it was. Noon was slowly ending and his time, night, was about to begin. All he needed to do was wait, and wait he could. He had been waiting all his life, and a hour more in a dimly lit room wouldn't bother Nathan at all.

Elina left her broken home that day, heading to the now ruined village square. Floods had plagued the village roughly a week earlier, Elina being unable to warn them due to unknown forces. She sat on an overturned tree, seeming to be praying for the people of the town as she sat. She stayed that way for several hours before standing up, heading back to her home. She stopped before reaching it, looking up and to the side as if she sensed something, before letting a rare smile touch her face. "Seems like the world is changing," she said to no one, letting the smile go away as she walked back to her home.

Yero sat back to the edge of a large oak, his eyes shut to relax. The cool wind felt nice as the sun filtered through the leaves; natural. He raised his right hand and moved it to cover what little was coming through. Staring at his pale skin he mumble something inaudible. Suddenly something tugged on his crimson sleeve. Looking down a short man stood, his foot high stature was laughable by most people. He was dressed in leather commoner clothing but it had been originally fitted for maybe a doll. It spoke, "What makes you think you have time to lay here?"

Yero kept his eyes shut, "I just thought-," he was interrupted by something hitting his head.

The small man had grabbed a stick, "I can't have you here doing nothing. I can't have you laying here doing nothing, if it weren't for me you'd still be crying your eyes out dying of hunger is some no-name port side village."

Yero was rubbing the spot where he had been hit, "Still doesn't explain why you hit-," again he was struck, "Why, Ley!? I'm thankful but there's nothing wrong with resting if only for a few minutes."

Ley stood silent for a moment in thought then turned and began to walk away, "I suppose not."

He sat dumbstruck, "Crazy-," Ley looked back with a serious expression, "Nothing!," yelled Yero. He was not favored to being hit again.

Jake got to the end of the path, the trees around him cleared, and he was suddenly in an open plain, "Ah... it sure is a nice day to start an adventure" Jake thought aloud as he looked into the sky, "Yeah, sure is" Stella agreed with him, "It'll be great, hmm?" she asked him eagerly, "Yeah, so lets keep on going!" Jake nodded at her, and started to dash forward, "HEY! Wait up Jake, slow down!" Stella shouted to him, and flew forward to try to catch up to him. Jake looked over and stopped suddenly, "Whoa..." he muttered, as Stella caught up, "What is it Jake?" she asked, "Are those... bird people? I think they are!" Jake exclaimed, looking over, "I wanna get a closer look" Jake told Stella, then started to wave one of his arms, "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!!" he called to them cheerily, trying to get there attention.

Passer overheard Jake's call to them. "Master, those humans are calling upon us. Should we address them?" Aquila patted the young angel on the head softly. "Why of course, after all, we are their sworn guardians from above. It would be an honour to meet one of the people of the earth." Then the two flapped their wings and sped up to Jake and Stella, flying in circles above them until they landed in front of the two. Then the angels kneeled as Aquila spoke "Greetings most merciful mortals. I am the Angel Aquila, and this is my apprentice Passer. We are both humbled by your presence and we wish to assist you as best as we possibly can." which followed by Passer adding to it. "Hi." Aquila hen rubbed his eyes with his index finger and his thumb. "Never mind Passer." Aquila then stood up, as did Passer, and he said "And whom may you pair be?"

Jake smiled at the two, 'So they aren't birds, they're angels, that's pretty cool' Jake thought as he listened to them, "My names Jake," Jake introduced himself, "And this is my friend Stella" he told them, pointing at her with his thumb, "It's good to meet you" he told them, Stella nodded at them, now standing on Jake's shoulder, "What he said". Jake studied them for a moment, "Angels hmm? Well I guess that means that you guys of all people have heard of the legends of the 11 shards haven't you? Well me and Stella are actually out looking for those" he explained to them, "What he said" Stella said again, then turned to him, "Why did you feel the need to tell them that?" She asked him, "I dunno, no point in not telling them"

In the distance, a creature looked out to the remains of a once proud village. Moving about the air, the creature was intrigued by the aftermath of the chaos. She moved closer now and again, her eyes darting back and forth between the rubble of buildings and overturned trees. "My, what interesting ways water can affect the land," her voice announced without moving her mouth. "Krev, oh Krev dear," the elemental wolf called out to the sleeping man on her back. The emerald green wolf shook in place to stir the elf from his sleep.

Krev rubbed the tiredness from his eyes and sat up, giving a great yawn and stretch before addressing the wolf. "Yes, Sul Rhun?" "Look over to that village. It was destroyed not too long ago." The elf perked up at the sound of death and turned to face the village in question. "It looks to be abandoned. Perhaps you may find diamonds in the rough," she encouraged him. "Also, there would seem to be a person there by themselves. A lone resident. They would not be missed, would they now?" Krev silently picked up on her hints and smiled. He and Sul Rhun did not know each other long enough to establish a true friendship, but they were in sync with their thought patterns. Sul Rhun would find work for Krev, while he provided her with entertainment.

The elf took a lone arrow from the quiver from his back and readied his bow. "Hawk Eye!" he spouted. Veins pulsed in his eye as they gave off a green glow. His vision zoomed into Elina as the area around her became cloudy and incomprehensible. "Let's see if I can't make this quick. Not mercy, merely good business." The arrow at his fingers gave off a slight breeze as the tip twisted into a drill-like form. Krev singled out her heart and prepared to shoot. "Destiny Shot!" he said in a slightly maniacal voice. The arrow launched with great speed in the given direction toward Elina's heart.

As the arrow sped towards Elina, she moved just slightly out of the way, it instantly burying itself deep in the far wall of the house. "Pathetic scavengers," she muttered to herself, the cloth still covering her eyes. "You might as well come out of hiding and stop trying to kill me. You can take what you want from the wreckage. The dead have no need for it anyways," she said, loud enough for them to hear. Elina grabbed the arrow and broke the shaft, not even trying to pull it out of the wall. She sighed as they had tried to kill her. Foul beings. Shoot first and ask questions later.

"Interesting form you have. You could've made a good living in the armies of this world," she said to herself, not caring if they heard her or not. "Oy! If you're hungry I think I still have some food. I could make some soup for you." Elina didn't even care that they had tried to kill her. It was nothing personal anyways, it was just the way they were. But maybe she could change them before they went on their way.

Aquila nodded as Jake pressumed they knew of the shards. "Yes, our people are quite well educated on these matters. However, my apprentice and I are not scholars but rather guardians. We were sent below on a task which involved these shards." Passer nodded to this response. "This task was to asure that they were not placed in the wrong hands. I believe I can trust you two, as you seem to be very kind people." Passer then commented "Master, I don't suppose it's possible we could venture with these people, could we?" Aquila looked back upon his apprentice and said "As long as these people don't mind our company, I do hope we can."

Krev chuckled to himself as Sul Rhun joined in. "It would appear your aim is as terrible as ever, dear Krev. Not able to hit an unsuspecting target from a mile away?" "If she didn't suspect it, she wouldn't have dodged." "Your excuses will not save you from humiliation," she continued to taunt. The wolf flew over to Elina's position and landed before her. She then sat down for Krev to slide off, the elf dusting the dirt from his pants. He kept his face down, but his eyes continued to lock on Elina. "Greetings, ma'am. Lovely to meet you. I will enjoy myself with the remains of your village," he said as his eyes faded their glow. The elf began to walk into and out of various buildings, collecting washed up pieces of gold and silver.

Sul Rhun stared at Elina in her crouched position, taking care not to disturb the environment. Without Krev by her side, the wolf became very awkward to the girl and her surroundings. She mustered the courage to break silence after a time. "Hello. I am Sul Rhun and my companion is Krev M'Nall," she started, her voice changing from spirited to monotone. "We are embarking on a quest to collect the 11 shards of legend." Krev came rushing over to the wolf at the mention of the shards, nearly dropping his current treasures. "She knows of my shards? You'll be of use to me. Tell me what you know, everything!" his greedy voice barked out.

Elina tapped her lips with a single finger, as if deep in thought. "Shards...shards....hm....I think I know about them," she said in slight apathy. "I don't care much for them. Ah, I think the Mineras had a gold statue. Their house was at the end of the street." Elina went back to making soup, still keeping herself to her high standards of politeness and kindness. "Mushroom soup? Or would you rather have potato soup? I can make both if you'd like." Elina didn't care too much about the wolf as well, knowing that it was a person in some way, so she'd be just as kind to her as she was to anyone else.

"I'd prefer it if you didn't touch the wooden cross in the village square. I'd like for the souls of this village to rest in peace, but I won't stop you if you wish to mess with it," Elina said in a tired tone as she worked on the soup.

"I'd prefer it if you didn't touch the wooden cross in the village square. I'd like for the souls of this village to rest in peace, but I won't stop you if you wish to mess with it," Elina said in a tired tone as she worked on the soup. Krev looked to the cross in question and waved a hand at it. "Bah. I have no need for treasures of 'personal value'. Only monetary! And if your giving a gift, I'll gladly take it. Potatoes" The elf pulled up a chair to sit on and eagerly awaited his meal. He examined one of the spoons before pocketing it and grabbing another. "I'll also be leaving with that golden statue on my way out. By the way, I need to know your name. I'm greedy, so I'll also ask you why you're in this run-down town."

Sul Rhun walked over the duo and sat herself next to Krev, wary of Elina's presence. "Oh Krev, why not be done with already? Patience is no virtue of mine. We have many more places to see than a washed up relic of the past." "My dear, I need to steal information in addition to goods. And the former takes time. Now let the pretty lass talk." "Perhaps she can come with us. It will entertain me more with two instead of one." "Am I not good enough now?" "The same face over a lifetime will fade into the wind, yes" The two continued to argue not unlike a married couple.

Elina quickly finished the potato soup and brought it to the table, one of the few pieces of furniture still stable in her house. "My name is Elina, and I'm all that's left of this village. I've decided to stay here until it's recolonized. This was quite the advantageous spot in the past, so who knows." Elina took a sip out of a cracked cup, the thick smell of tea wafting from it as she drank. "Ah, join you? I believe I shall stay. There's no point in me joining you, and I have no reason to go anyways. Also, I don't think you'd like someone trying to stop you stealing from innocents with you."

Elina continued to sip her drink, the cloth over her eyes making her seem as if she was blind. In her house, shadows writhed slightly, as if they were moving on their own and it seemed darker inside than was possible, but still bright enough to see clearly. Everything just seemed off with her. She sounded as if she had been in that village for an eternity but she looked as if she had just turned 25.

"The wrong hands? Like... someone who wants to take over the world with them?" Jake asked, "Truthfully, I don't know what my greatest desire is, that's kinda why I wanna find the shards," Jake explained, "To find that out, and once I have it, then I'll be able to live out my philosophy to the extreme, 'To live every day to it's fullest'" Jake went on, "I don't think either of us know what we most desire" Jake told them, turning to Stella, "Actually, I'm pretty sure I have a good idea" she said back, "Really? What is it?" Jake asked her, now curious, "Oh, you'll find out" she mused, "Well anyway, I'm fine with you guys coming along, the more the merrier I guess, what about you Stella?" Jake asked his Fairy friend, "Fine by me, maybe they'll know a little about the locations of the shards" she shrugged, 'Doubt it'

Krev and Sul Rhun finished their argument as Elina began to talk, with Krev focusing more on her conversation. Sul Rhun averted her gaze and walked outside to retrieve the golden statue. Once they had it in their possession, they could leave that much sooner to find other towns to pillage. Elina spoke in a way that made it seem as though she was an elder, but looked as though she was still in her prime. "Ah, so you won't join our escapades? Elina, forever the lone villager. I suppose you would be more of a burden than an aid." The elf finished off his soup and pocketed his spoon to have a matching pair. His eyes began to glow again, entering his 'Hawk Eye' spell once more. While he unaware of the strange shadows about the room, his instincts told him to leave that area.

Walking backwards, the elf made his way to Sul Rhun who stopped him with her paw. "Well Elina, I wish you the best of luck on your journey." Krev pulled out his bow once more and took aim. "After all, the path to hell is a long endeavor. Or so I've heard." "Oh Krev, you know that she will live." "I believe you. But an opportunity is before me to kill a strong person. I need to take it. I need to!" "Very well then. Entertain me, my dear." The arrow gained a blunt edge and a strong wind aura. "Cannon Shot!" The arrow launched forward with great strength, aiming past Elina to destroy the house's support and collapse on her. He wouldn't aim to kill her directly, at least not yet. First he need to gauge her strength and abilities to know where he stood against her.

The shot hit the supporting beam and the house groaned, beginning to sag before stopping. "How rude," Elina said, not even looking up as she cleaned the bowls. "Very nice shot though. Any other house would have fallen down after that." The shadows within the house writhed as if in anger, a few of them spreading across the floor of the house and shooting to create new supports of the house. Elina didn't even turn her head at this, and there was no indication that the shadows were even coming from her as the house began to resume a normal shape.

Suddenly a few shadows shot forward from the doorway of the house, taking on grotesque forms as they moved before Elina turned slightly, the shadows melting away. "Sorry about that. I'd hate for you to die before you leave."

Krev looked on at his attempts of property damage were hindered by the element of darkness. Sul Rhun watched as the house seemingly repaired itself from its impending doom. The shadows within were angered with their assault and wanted to fight back before Elina quelled them. "Sorry about that. I'd hate for you to die before you leave," she mused. The elf rubbed his temple, slightly agitated by her desire to live. "You live as an empty soul with a broken past in a broken house in an empty town. Not exactly the glamorous life a girl should have, right? Too many things that have no value. Life is meaningless unless you have possessions."

Krev readied three arrows from his quiver to his bow, watching Elina yet aiming to the sky. "Maybe if you can prove me wrong, I'll leave in peace." Sul Rhun gained a devious smile and whispered softly to Krev on a different solution. The elf also gained the same smile. "Great idea, my dear. Instead, consider this. You know of the 11 shards, who doesn't? If you had the chance to create the mystical tablet of legend and gain anything you desire what would it be?" "To recover your home? Perhaps your family?" Sul Rhun chimed in. "Everyone wants something."

Elina smiled at them before speaking. "Everything comes to an end and everything happens for a reason. This is the truth and fate of this world. I don't need anything from this world past what I have. Why would I need anything more?" Elina turned slightly, as if surveying the wreckage that was the village and smiled, but it was hard to tell if it was a happy or sad one. "Take this village for instance. They were a well visited village in this forest and they led peaceful and happy lives. Then the floods came and killed them all. But they will be remembered."

Elina then looked back at the two and smiled again. "I feel sorry for you, who knows nothing but greed. Unable to find the beauty of this world while only focusing on material wealth. I wish you well on your journeys though. You can shoot my house all you like, or even me."

"Well, my dear Fairy ally, my young compaion Passer was told of the location of a shard. In fact, the scholar specifically that we were sent from the Protectorate to a location close to the shard." Aquila said with his arms crossed. Passer then added "The Protectorate is the name of the castle where the angels of the Sky Knight order reside." Aquila then turned to his apprentice and said "Passer, do you recall upon the information the scholar Ahoudori gave to you upon this shard?" Aquila knew this because the scholar told him as well, without Passer's knowing. Aquila used this to test how he would treat responsibility. "Well?" Passer's face was sweating, he'd forgotten it. "Erm...I'm sorry master Aquila, I forgot." Aquila frowned at Passer. "My apprentice, you must aim to prioritize, especially on such cases. This information is important and losing it is too risky." Passer lowered his head in shame.

Aquila then rubbed him on the head which caused Passer to look back at his master, who's face now was smiling. "However, you not only honestly admitted to your mistake, you also recognized it and apologized for said mistake. These traits I seek in a worthy apprentice, my apprentice so well done." Aquila then turned back to Jake and Stella. "Fortunately I am aware of this information. The shard closest here is the Scarlet Shard of Strength." Then from where they stood Aquila pointed noth. "There is an volcanic island known as Miyamoi, and this shard is said to be locatd there. At least, according to Ahoudori." Aquila then concluded with "Lead the way."

'Uh... these guys... talk reeeeeaally weird' Stella thought as she listened in to what they were saying, 'To many big words!' Jake thought as he did the same, "Wait, Miyamoi? That's closest? You sure, because if I'm right..." Jake trailed off, and brought a map out from his bag and opened it up, "That's way up north! I think your senses may be a little off if that's the closest one," Jake went on, "But, I guess that's where we should go for the first one, if we already know where that one is" Jake shrugged, then though for a moment, and studied his map, "But there's one place I wanna go first, down south a little, there's supposed to be this beautiful town, and I'd love to see it!" Jake exclaimed, "Oooh, that sounds amazing!" Stella chimed in, and without waiting for an answer they turned around and started walking south, not even waiting to see what Passer and Aquila would say.

Sul Rhun gave Elina a bored expression before yawning and sitting down. From what she knew, this conversation would take longer than she cared for. The emerald wolf rested her head on her front paws while swaying her tail on the ground, kicking up a small sandstorm. I wonder how long I must suffer this ridiculous area. We have already exceeded my expected time limit and I grow restless with each passing second... she growled to herself.

Krev clutched his temple, unable to comprehend Elina's testimony. "You confuse me more than anyone I have ever met. I also believe in destiny, fate, karma, the works. We all die at some point, sometimes without warning. Just ask anyone whose met me." He pulled out some of his treasures to prove a point. "This is what life's all about! 'Material wealth' as you call it. Money can buy you happiness, for the right price. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and these are the most beautiful objects in the world to me." The elf lifted his wealth into the air and let it fall over him, then letting his arms drop down. "If I had that tablet, I would live in paradise. You know what paradise is? Whatever anyone wants it to be! This village is your paradise, dead or alive. The memories of your past. Those are your possessions, your greed. Virtues grant you a long life, but sins grant you a happy one. I want my paradise, and you want yours. We're all greedy; you just need to find out how."

The elf put his bow away and canceled his 'Hawk Eye' spell, no longer having a need for them. "Shooting you would be of no value to me. But this conversation is. I've told you about me and now it's your turn." Krev walked closer to Elina until he was directly in front of her, holding a dagger behind his back. "I'm gleaming green with greed. Are you black and hollow like the darkness?"

Elina just shook her head at Krev's greed and smiled at him. "Tell you about me? I think not. It's easier to show you though." Elina then turned to the wolf, smiling sweetly before turning back to the elf. "I'm sorry young child for doing this but apparently you wish this to be so. I'll show you truth and despair." The shadows inside of the house slowly thinned, starting to flow towards Elina as she stood there, gazing at them from behind the cloth in front of her eyes. As the shadows advanced hands started to appear clawing at the air towards Krev, as if trying to grab him. Faint voices could be heard in the shadows, as if they were moaning and screaming as they got closer to Krev, Elina still just smiling sweetly. "I see no point to this harm, but if you desire it so badly I will give it to you."

Krev watched as the shadows from Elina's house seemed to come alive and move toward them. Emerging from the ground as clawed hands, the shadows grew ever closer to him. "I see no point to this harm, but if you desire it so badly I will give it to you," she smirked. Sul Rhun alerted herself to Krev's situation and used her powers to forcibly pull him back. The wolf wrapped her tail around the elf and narrowed her eyes toward Elina. "There is no need for that. Krev, I wish to leave promptly." "I never knew you cared, Sul Rhun. But we are having a lovely conversation. I can't leave yet." "Do not forget why we came here, my dear." "Yes, for the shards and some treasure. There were no shard, but I did find a peculiar treasure."

The elf winked at Elina and rubbed his hand through Sul Rhun's fur. "I'm afraid I must insist on you traveling with us. After all we've learned about each other, along with my inability to kill you outright, I cannot leave you here. I want you to come with us. And I am very adamant about collecting things I want."
