Bahamut - Envoy of the End
You know, the Venom archtype. That small set of snakes used by Professor Viper in GX, remember. The one with one of the (if you could get it out) strongest cards in the game. Ring any bells? Well, anyway, while I was away, I've been on WC quite a lot, and having missed most of GX I discovered Venom for the first time. I got all excited by the concept, built a basic deck, and faced off against... someone... ... and I died of boredom... One of the most slow, tedious and generally horrible duels I've ever had. Ever. Excitement was quickly crushed with bitter disappointment, as the Venom archtype turned out to be, actually, a bit rubbish. Well, rubbish is harsh, lets say underpowered. Because they do have some good support cards (Ambush, Offering) but the main problem I had was the small size of the archtype for them to work with, and the four monsters are weak without the crippling Venom Swamp in play. Unfortunately, Venom will never be strengthened because of its boss, Vennominaga. The near indestructible monster with its own win condition is near impossible to stop once it hits the field, and because of its strength Konami will never let the archtype get too powerful. I find this a little sad, so I return to YCM with basic cards that could have made Venom... deadly. Enjoy and feedback appreciated as always. MBC-001 Venom Striker DARK Reptile **** 1800/100 A vicious cobra that strikes its foe with lightening speed, but is vulnerable to the counterattack should it miss its target. Reasoning: Venom Cobra (D: 2000) supplies the defensive wall, so this supplies the much needed muscle to go after the opponents crippled forces. MBC-002 Venom Baby Rare DARK Reptile/Effect * 300/200 Lore: Discard this card; Add 1 'Venom Swamp' from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. Reasoning: Venom are NOTHING without their field spell, plus this gets a free snake in the graveyard for the bosses to make use of. MBC-003 Venom Charmer Super Rare DARK Reptile/Effect ****** 1900/1300 Lore: This card cannot be Special Summoned by the effects of monsters. Once per turn: Target 1 monster your opponent controls with a Venom Counter; take control of the targeted monster until the End Phase. Venom Charmer cannot attack this turn. Reasoning: Makes use of Venom Counters whilst Swamp is not on the field. Even if the monster is crippled by many a counter, you can always use it for Tribute for Venom Boa, or indeed with Charmer for Vennominon. MBC-004 Venom Mamba Rare DARK Reptile/Effect **** 1500/1000 Lore: Once per turn: Target 1 monster your opponent controls with a Venom Counter; remove 1 counter and inflict 500 damage to your opponent. Reasoning: Again, just added muscle and regular damage for a slow deck. MBC-005 Venom Twin-Head DARK Reptile/Effect **** 1000/1500 Lore: Once per turn: If this card destroys a monster with a Venom Counter, it can attack once more. Reasoning: Well come on, what other effect do you give a two headed snake? Link to comment
evawin
My biggest problem with the Venom archetype was the fact that Venom Swamp only gave counters during the End Phase, meaning anything short of a turn 1 Venom Cobra is going to get squished (even then, it's probably going to get run over by an XYZ or Synchro). So I feel that they need something that makes the Venom Counters live. I made some not too long ago as well; you can look here for some ideas. :3 http://forum.tcgplay...4-Venom-Support Link to comment

Can we get some good support for that type before we get into reptile archetypes? They're quickly becoming the new Sea Serpents. Otherwise, the Venom cards are fine. Link to comment
evawin
Reptiles have access to some great support. Snake Whistle, Offering to the Snake Diety, Damage = Reptile, Snake Rain, etc. Link to comment
Okay! Striker - is this a vanilla? Baby - and a commandant for Venom Charmer - OH SNAP! *goes and looks up Venom Swamp again* This seems too easy. This card would probably get limited if people actually used Venom cards. Mamba - Not all that impressive, just a burner that gives your Opponent's monsters their ATK back. Twin-Hean - Here we go this one can attack twice, that's aweso-... It has 1000 ATK? Yo-kay. They're pretty average cards if you ask me. The only ones that could be seriously dangerous are Charmer and... well nothing. Baby is simple, been done before, but I suppose if this archetype needs anything, that'd be it. Link to comment

I'm thinking I should make it a tuner though, and making a Synchro to give this another use. Charmer - Hmm, I'll come back and have a think about that. Mamba - Noted, will up the damage to 700. Twin Head - Originally Mamba and TH's stats were the other way around, change back? Just thought with Swamp crippling 1000 would be more balanced. Link to comment
