Violation

Recommended Posts

I am a proud member of Deviantart.com and I do not support the blatant theft of art.

In reading your rules and regulations of this forum, I am not overstepping my bounds in posting this. In fact, I wish to bring to your attention rule #2:

Rule 2

No illegal content

This includes linking to any sites that may violate the rules. If you have any doubts, whatsoever, about the appropriateness of the content you want to post, don't post it. This includes but is not limited to:

# Adult-oriented content

# Content that breaks any laws

# Copyright infringement (many MP3s, ROMs, etc.), warez, CD keys, cracks, passwords, serial numbers, etc.

# Gambling and drugs

# Hacking materials and information

# Terrorism (promotion/carrying it through)

# Trojans, viruses, worms, and other such harmful things

The ingnoring of this rule is an easily bannable offense.

In using images from Deviantart - you are braking this rule. You are also breaching a law, and are guilty of copyright infringement.

Please take note that I am not attacking anyone deliberately - I am just stating a fact.

Several of my friends have been hurt in this fashion and I am doing my part in telling you.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

please cease all theft of others' art.

Jenna Scott

fair enough, i myself am a member of dA, but to be honest i would not mind if someone was to use my artwork, why else is it on the site? to show off and hopefully benefit other people. i see where your coming from but dA lets you put a copyright symbol on, most people choose not too and thats their choice, but if they choose not too, it is their own fault that people are using their images.

this has been a growing problem on this site, and if people started too pay attention, most of the decent card makers give credit to the artist

As a member of DA you support this? Then I must look into this further. I admit that all I have read so far are the rules for this forum, and then the complaints on DA about art theft and this website. All of the cases that I have reviewed gave no credit to the artist whatsoever. Kilara is one of them, Jocara is another... Two friends of mine who have had their art stolen and used without their permission.

Deviantart is not for the benefit of people who wish to use the images, truely. It is for the artist to display their art and appreciate the art of others. It is a place for likeminded people to gather and share a common interest. To comment on and to help others further their artistic talent.

It hurts me to think that people would want to use the art for their own gains.

I admit that at first, if my art was used, I would be flattered (though my art would, hopefully, never be used without my permission! :))... but then, I'm sure, I would be hurt, and then angered.

I have had my art stolen from my only once before - that was in grade two, and the little boy who did it came to regret it. :P

lol well the 2 people you named, are retards from this site, they dont show any dignity so do not be offended by them at all.

true with what you say, dA is a place too admire art, but as if any site on the internet has only had its one purpose lol xD so yes, check out the other members, as they do appreciate the artists.

dont know about tha one. i myself try not too use dA as an image source so i've never been in that situation, but you'd have too ask another member. i do realise all what your saying and it is clear, i'll try and talk to the other members about it, and see if we can sort out like a new rule

we understand what you mean but what are we doing benifts both of us.

We have fun making fun and enjoy using your wonderful art.

You can be proud of your art bieng liked on the internet and about seeing your art going out into the world.

besides we never took credit for your art.

Understandable - but all we want, really, is to be asked first and for our opinions and decisions to be respected. If you ask, and we say that you are allowed to use the art - then perfect :) however, if we ask that you not use the art, then respect that and don't.

Common courtesy is all we ask. :)

All I can think of it asking, really.

Like the thread says regarding "Ending the Deviantart war" - ask permission, and if the Deviant doesn't mind, they'll post something in their journal regarding the use of their art for personal/YCM usage... *shrug*

A question - you said you were on DA aswell? What's your screenname?

I just might do that. This place is nice.

I guess it was just those weird, DA radicals that ruffled everyone up. Why they should go stomping around like half drunk trolls is beyond me. We're all human and not all of us knows about the copyright rules to the "T." I know I didn't. :P

That's a widely shared belief, and I don't blame you :P I used to think that way too until the artist (who did AMAZING photoshop brushes) shut down her site and never came back to the internet with her art ever again. It was really sad and a turning point for my understanding of the legal and personal issues that's connected with situations like this.

It's really nice to see how understanding you guys are and how willing people are to change in order to solve this issue. So kudos to everyone here and those on DA who were actually civil about this.
