Re-Inventing the News Section

Well, I've noticed that the news section has gone dead with no actual 'news' there since literally one year and one day ago.

I'd like to suggest that the section become slightly more community-orientated, i.e. let members of the community submit news about certain projects in YCM. Good examples would be news on the current Your.Dek Realistic Cards project, the recent YCM Member Brawl in Polls, the various 'CCGs' in Written Cards and the tournament going on in TCG.

Why I suggest this:

1. It's hard to look through every section just to find noteworthy events.
2. It encourages activity and stops these sort of events from dying out, like before.
3. It ties in nicely with the calender function added to YCM after the board update so you can check up on events that may start at a certain time.

If the section still needs the official news, you could always place certain tags on them (as the new update allowed), for example "Official" for the news regarding the site itself and "Community" for the news regarding things within the site.

The news obviously would have to be filtered, but that can be fixed by allowing only certain members to submit it (after gaining permission to submit news from the appropriate moderator).

The most sensible idea of now is actually just to create a subsection for community news.

I support this. Community news and Official News are good ideas. But I wouldn't allow any member to start threads, only mods or admins.

I support, but how about instead, any member can start a thread, but it would have to be approved by a mod or admin?
