So...for some of you it is already out and for some of us it will be soon - in 3D.

Yes for two weeks Disney will be releasing the Lion King in 3D. Specific dates are unique to each country.

See http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110357/releaseinfo#akas for international dates.

Discuss the Lion King/Lion King 2/Lion King 1 1/2 and the movie's 3D release.

Oh, jeez. Man, I never watched much of 1 and 2, but I watched 1/2 with my sister so many times!

Ah...good times...

Wasn't 1/2 like the first movie but from Timon & Pumba's view? (its been a long time so I don't remember very well)
If so, 1/2 becomes better if you watched 1 first. That way it makes you keep saying "oh I remember when this happended" xD

The Lion King is the best Disney movie after Aladdin. I miss the hand-drawn style of animated films. I'm curious about how they make it 3D.

Like 3D movies at the theater. With 3D glasses.

I second the comment about hand-drawn animated films from Disney. Whatever happened to that great department of the company, all their stuff is Pixar-style now. Which is not per say bad, but I like the classic ways.

That response explains nothing; I know how 3D movies are experienced, I've seen several movies in 3D. I'm referring to the conversion process, of taking an existing hand-drawn animated film and making it appear 3D. Are they using new assets, or digitally cutting and pasting parts of the movie over other parts? It's an interesting subject.
