Hotaru987
Nothing happed for a few seconds and Rayu believed that they had failed. The dim cigarette light was coming closer. This was the end for them it seemed. Out of all the things to be defeted by...It was a riddle. How utterly sad. But suddenly the lights came on, making Rayu recoil and cover her eyes. She heard him say that they had passed and to head towards the door for some rest. Before she moved Rayu waited for her eyes to adjust and then headed towards the room. There was only one other team inside. "That was a close one." Rayu exhaled sitting down and slouching using her staff to hold herself up. From the other side of the testing room Shuski waited for the screams but after none came, he figured they must have passed. "Well, at least we know it isn't impossible. Two teams have already passed, and I know our team will too." Shuski said in the soft way he had been speaking to his team from the begining. Final Fantasy Revolution
Outside of the inner room were the teams that had yet to be tested, talking or cowering as they waited for their respective turn or to hear if the team that had just went were killed. There were no screams to be heard and after a few seconds the door slid open again to welcome the team of Darius, Revanova, Shuran, and Kina. They to were escorted into the room of pitch black darkness with no light at all, not even the light of Myto's cigarette could be seen, meaning he probably wasn't smoking right now cause he was about to give test instructions but talking didn't seem like something that would stop him from smoking. "Hello again. This test will work by me giving you a riddle and you having ten minutes to find the answer. No more clues or hin-" Myto was cut off by the hot headed Kina. "Yeah, yeah, whatever! Just give us the stupid riddle already so we can get out of this stupid room!" Myto was silent for a moment. "Very well, if you fail to solve the riddle, you will die." Myto said, and than took a brief pause so they could clearly hear the riddle. "Only one color, but not one size, Stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies. Present in sun, but not in rain, Doing no harm, and feeling no pain. What am I?" There was only silence for a few seconds and then suddenly there was a giant explosion of anger. "What kind of stupid riddle is that!?" She said to Myto, but he obviously wasn't going to answer. Shuran was looking as if this riddle really didn't effect him to much, giving a subtle cough as to gain attention away from Kina's anger. "Could you possibly repeat the riddle?" Shuran asked. "There will be no repeats." Myto explained and than lit a cigarette and started to smoke it, the light shining subtly in the room. "No repeats huh? What do you guys think?" Shuran ask the rest of his team. "I think it's stupid!" Kina said. "I wasn't asking you..." Shuran responded. "Well it is." She said.
Admiral_Stalfos19
Death by lack of intelligence never suited Revenova Decassus, but he had to admit that he was perplexed from the riddle. This would likely be worrying, as very few riddles could ever stifle an elf. For the first time since he was selected to climb the tower, Revenova was actually given what he truly believed to be a challenge. But he had to persevere; his family was counting on him and his team-mates to solve this riddle and proceed to the top of the tower, where the artefact would be waiting. "Doing no harm, and feeling no pain..." Revenova whispered softly to himself, before reaching an epiphany in his mind. "It must be abstinent, tangible objects always deal or receive damage in some way. Warmth, for example, is abstinent. You can feel warmth from the sun, but you cannot feel warm in the rain, can you not? However, warmth isn't measured in size..." Revenova had his doubts about his own answer, that couldn't be mistaken. He wouldn't even know if he was even close. But he felt that warmth was a mere stepping stone, and would hopefully encourage the others to build off it for a more likely answer. "It's a start," Revenova stated, after shrugging his shoulders.
Dwarven King
(OOC: Sorry guys! I was asleep!!! D: Err...let's just pretend I threw in some witty remark about not be able to smoke any of the butts because you can't smoke them...or something. Though I am kinda shocked you guys didn't guess 6 right off the back...twas a simple riddle really. :3) Firie sighed as he leaned up against the wall. After a moment of silence, he turned towards his team. "I apologize for not being of much help in there. However, I was aware of the correct answer and would have said it once we had thirty seconds left. Why didn't I say it sooner? I wanted to see how intelligent my teammates were. I do hope you understand." Firie's eyes then drifted over to the other team in the room. A very unimpressive team who probably got the riddle by pure luck. No matter. Just meant less competition for him.
Altαir
Hal thought about it for a second. Based on the constant silence drifting past the walls, he could guess that this test was a passive one. Perhaps it had to do with concentration, or maybe even smarts? He hadn't considered the tower to be so kind as to let people get off with smarts. He knew, from the screams, that there was a penalty. Probably death. Death was the only way to quit the tests in this tower, so far. Death was the only way to leave the tower, but only spiritually. Just think! Your body, lost in the bowels of the tower from some test you couldn't pass. The only way out alive is to win. This wasn't something that had mercy. People, who have been betting their lives to get to the top, some for good reasons, some for bad, could die with no recognition. No happiness. Perhaps he shouldn't have gone... "No..." Hal muttered to himself, snapping himself out of his trance. He subsequently sat down, his metal armor making some clinking sounds as he descended. He knew he couldn't think of such things. He couldn't be driven by the fear of losing, the fear of the tower. He had to move with confidence that he was going to win. He surveyed the room, like he did five times already. All these people had reasons. Motivation swirled in the room, like a whirlpool. They were all confident to win, and scared to die. But... did anyone know what they were really getting into?
Final Fantasy Revolution
The room stayed dark and quiet meaning that warmth probably wasn't the answer. "Maybe it's stupidity." Kina suggested, but nothing happened to the room, as everyone suspected it wouldn't. "If I may, I think the answer is snow. Snow falls only one color from the sky, not every snowflake is completely identical, when it falls from the sky it's on the ground and stuck there, it could get whisked away in the wind or something. The only thing I'm having trouble with is present in the sun, not in the rain. Is it snow?" Shuran guessed but the room did not change one bit. "Maybe Darius know, he's been silent this whole time, thinking perhaps?" Shuran asked Darius. A subtle spark came from Myto's direction, he was lighting up another cigarette. Kyng's Old Account
Darius closed his eyes andentered a deep state of concentration. 'Only one color, but not one size. This means it may only bear a single color but at the same time it can grow...Then stuck at the bottom, yet easily flies...it must be mobile. Present in sun, but not in rain...sun? Sunlight...I have a hunch...doing no harm, and feeling no pain...well, a reflection bears many colors, but there is only one kind of reflection I know that works with sunlight. Let's go through this...only one color. Black. Not one size. Growth, linking with sunlight which links with mobile but stuck...it's obvious.' And finally Darius opened his eyes and spoke the answer. "This riddle's answer is a shadow."
Final Fantasy Revolution
Everyone is silent, the team starts to look at each other. Myto stands up and the lights flicker on as a door on the other side of the room opens. "Congratulations, you have passed this leg of the test, the quickest team so far if that stokes your ego any." Myto said, not really caring about any group in this test, he took one last drag on the cigarette he was smoking and put it out in the ash tray. "Please make your way through the door on the other end of the room for a rest period before the next test." Myto explained, and then sat back down. "Whatever, this whole test was a meaningless waste of time!" Kina said and then went angrily into the resting room. With a sigh, Shuran followed her into the room as well. Kyng's Old Account
Darius was about to ask the man a question but reluctantly turned away and walked into the resting place. "Well, that wasn't too hard." Darius said as he sat down in the next room and took a deep breath as he streched his arms and legs. "But he said that was one leg of the test. I wouldn't get too comfy just yet..." Darius then looked around the room and he still had that feeling. Why did this tower seem so familiar to him? If he had the time to think he'd enter his deep thought and go with it.
Admiral_Stalfos19
Of course, Revenova could've easily thunk of shadow if he thought each piece of the riddle through. But he was surprised that Darius managed to beat him to the punch. Through the door, he could hear the other team jabbing on about how lucky they thought they must have been of getting through in record time, and cast a glare at all four of them. "You try solving a riddle that can even perplex the elves," he suggested mockingly, before taking his seat.
Yu Hansung
"Hm, interesting. The group with the Jahad got out surprisingly quickly," Koon mused to herself quietly, wondering what their riddle would be. "It's not like I'll be unable to answer it though. Father made sure I learnt everything I could before coming to the tower." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A few of the other Regulars snickered more and Shuran immediately piped up, trying to head off a confrontation. "Just ignore them, Revanova." "Ignore them?! You should be over there kicking their asses!" "Sure, and get us all disqualified for fighting outside of the designated times. Lovely idea 'princess'." "Why you..." "I'm surprised you're a princess though. I could have sworn they were the 'best of the best' females in their family. Oh well." A few of the Regulars stopped looking at their group after that, realizing that Kina was a princess of Jahad, instantly fearing her. --------------------------------------------------- "Well, the test seems to be going well, don't you think so Mr. Ro?" A ranker said, sipping on coffee. "Yes, I think it is going well. I hope Myto can thin them out enough. We had way too many pass the shinsoo test."
Final Fantasy Revolution
The door slid open for the next team to pass through, who were again escorted in by an assistant. After about nine minutes, getting really close to ten, the door slid open and there were no screams to be heard. The next group walked in and there was instantly silence again; nothing from the room could be heard except the screams of all those who failed to pass the rigorous riddling. Ten minutes had passed since the last team went in and the screams were coming just as strong as ever. After a few seconds the door slid open, welcoming the team of Jisan, Shuski, Kei, and Rex; they were escorted in by an assistant like all of the others. The room was dark and quiet as it was for all the others. "Greetings for the second time, young ones. In this test I will give you a riddle and you will have ten minutes to solve it. There will be no repeats, clues, hints, or helps. Simply solve the riddle within the time limit and you pass. Oh, and if you don't solve the riddle, you'll be killed." Myto said, in the calmest voice imaginable as if he's been saying this all day, oh wait, he has. "Your riddle." He said, again putting a pause in so that they could hear it. "A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?" Myto said. Jisan and Rex immediately turn to Shuski who was probably surprised by their sudden turn. "Come on, you said it yourself, your the smart one of this group." Jisan said calmly, as if saying he wouldn't be helping at all with the riddle. "Rex Trysaurus has only strength and size human!" Rex said, frantic about not passing this portion of the test. Jisan than turned towards Kei. "Happen to have any ideas, anything would probably be better than nothing." Jisan said, Myto made a spark and lit a cigarette, the glow could be seen faintly in the darkness.
Hotaru987
Shuski was ready for their turn. He had confidence that they would be able to get pass the test. It seemed like more people than not were passing, which only seemed to give Shuski more confidence. If it was a fighting challenge, then the other three would be more than enough to handle it. Before long he and his team were heading into the room. It was completely dark, making it almost impossible to see the others beside him. Myto then told them the rules of this test, and told them that they would be given a riddle. All they had to do was solve it in the time allotted. Shuski smirked, "Simple enough." When he actually heard the riddle he was initially stumped, and the fact that his two teammates instantly rounded on him to answer the riddle. He coughed into his hand, "Ok, let me think." He said. "From listening to the riddle we know one thing already. It has nothing to do with the wife actually killing her husband. It would be impossible for her to, and then for them to go out later. Well, I suppose she could but she would be dragging a corpse." He said. During this he had completely dropped the shy facade and was speaking as though he had athority. Later if they ask he would just say he felt more comfortable when no one could see him, or something like that. "That's what the riddle wants you to believe." Shuski wasn't really talking to them now, but more so thinking out loud. What could it be? A few minutes later, Shuski gasped as the answer came to him. He chuckled slightly, "Wow, that was actually pretty smart." Shuski said still turning over the answer in his head. He had actually forgot to say the answer outloud to get out of the test.
Final Fantasy Revolution
The team just sat there and watched as Shuski talked to them about the riddle and after a while he chuckled and talked to himself as if he had already said it. The group just stared at him for a minute or two then Rex walked over and slammed his horn against his head. "You didn't actually say an answer you idiot!" Rex shouted, Jisan shook his head from left to right. "Rex, may I remind you that your relying on him for the answer." Jisan said and looked at Shuski, it's alright, take your time, we have some left I think." Myto was just now sparking up his second cigarette... Hotaru987
Shuski was still mulling over his answer when Rex suddenly hit him over the head with one of his horns, causing Shuski to cry out and grab his head. Though they couldn't see, he had a dot of tears on the corner of his eyes. "Wh-what was that for?" He asked rubbing his head, but he was quickly answer by Rex who yelled that he hadn't even said the answer yet. Shuski blinked, "Oh...I didn't? Well, this is how I see it-" He cleared his throat, "The reason why they were able to go out together was because the wife was a photographer. When she "shot" her husband you were reffering to "taking" or "shooting" a picture. Once I figured that out the rest was pretty simple. The next line was she put him in water, which all of us instantly thought drowning, but after you take a picture you soak the picture in a solution so it can come out, and then you hang it up to dry. Which explains the last line." By the time he was finished he was smirking. Shuski was confident that he was correct in his deductions. There was no way the answer could be anything else. Kyng's Old Account
Darius looked around the room, beliveing now he'd have plenty of time to think out this dilema he was in. Completely ignoring Revenova's remark and the real identity of the firey heart princess Kina of Jahad, and had re-entered his thoughts, a black void of nothingness but yet everything one could need. 'This seems familiar to me...familiar means I know this place, bt I know that I have never set foot in here since I woke up to Corona rescuing me...meaning something about this tower must link to me before I suffered amnesia. So, my past is finally shining through, but what could this mean? Icame here to save my wife, but now I have two goals. Priority one is Corona's life, priority two is my past. Though I have longed to know who I am, my children will not suffer because of it.' Then Darius once again opened his eyes and said "This place...I've been here before." Final Fantasy Revolution
The lights flickered on and Myto was again revealed out of the darkness, smoking a cigarette as was pretty much his identifying trait by now. "Congratulations, you've passed this leg of the test." As did before, a door on the far side of the room slid open, Myto took another drag on his cigarette. "Please enter the next room for a rest period before your next test will begin." Myto explained, finishing his cigarette again and putting out in the ashtray to end it's life. The team was escorted out by an assistant and the outside door slid open to welcome the team of Team of Hal S, Mike, Sykes, and Metsu. "Welcome again regulars. I'll be giving you a riddle, answer it within ten minutes of me giving it to you and if you can't, you will die. There will be no hints, help, clues, or repeats, do you understand." Myto said to the group. "Riddles, eh? Not really my forte..." Sykes said, Metsu merely nodded. "We're ready for everything." Hal nodded so the man could continue. "A magic man was boasting one day at how long he could hold his breath under water. His record was 6 minutes. A kid that was listening said, "that's nothing, I can stay under water for 10 minutes using no types of equipment or air pockets!" The magician told the kid if he could do that, he'd give him $10,000. The kid did it and won the money. Can you figure out how?" Myto said. "Huh, intriguing for a young man to achieve, Michael?" Metsu looked at Michael who was thinking intensely. "I'll be over there when you solve it." Sykes said, sitting down and waiting for the riddle to be solved. "Thoughts Hal?" Metsu asked Hal. Altαir
Hal remained silent for a while. He knew that one could not hold his breath for so long, it was nearly impossible. After rerunning the man's words over in his head, he noticed Myto did not claim that the kid actually held his breath, rather he simply stayed under the water for ten minutes. Hal continued pondering, giving a unpleasing sigh to Metsu. He wasn't really sure, but figured that giving some suggestions would be worth a try. "Perhaps he just held a bucket full of water over his head, or something like that. The riddle... never really said anything about breathing..." Hal said, a bit displeased with himself. He was pretty glad he had a team, now. Before, when heading through the door, a team was only a burden to others, where parts of the team passed or failed. This time, they could brainstorm together. Final Fantasy Revolution
"Why should you be displeased with yourself, that sounds completely logical, in fact, I reason that it is the ONLY answer outside the realm of talking fish that walk on land or mer-people." Mike said, trying to tell Hal to have some confidence in himself. The lights flickered on to Myto sitting in the same spot he's been in for every test thus far. "Congratulations, the written answer calls for a glass of water, but a bucket is just as good I suppose." Myto said and the next door slid open, all of them going through and the outside door opening to let another team in, after about ten minutes this team also screamed out loud in terror and agony. After a few seconds the door slid open to welcome the team of Team of Dawn, Kry, Noah, and Koon, who were escorted in by an assistant like everybody else was. "Greetings of the second variety." Myto said and looked at the group, it was different this time, the lights were on and Myto was in clear view. "I hope you like riddles, because this test is answering one. I shall give you one riddle, in which you have ten minutes to answer and if you cannot you will die. There will be no help, hints, clues, or repeats of said riddle." Myto explained. "Your riddle." Myto said, taking a pause so they'd hear it clearly and from the beginning. "A farmer is bailing hay in his farm, he throws the last of the hay pile into his hay-bailing machine. Upon turning around he sees that there is even more hay waiting for him in the exact same spot the old hay was in, he looks outside to see the ones he bailed still there in the bails he made. He owns and runs the farm himself and was the only one there that day, how did he get more hay?" Myto said simply.
Ghoulish
Dawn walked into the room with no knowledge of what could be lieing within it, he had tried to gain some sort of clues from outside, but he couldn't other then after 10 minutes there was a loud scream. "Based off that I assume we'll have to do somehting within 10 miuntes." After hearing Myto and his riddle, Dawn wa quite stumped. "A riddle? Darn it." Dawn wasn't the best at brain teaser type of games, he was hoping that maybe Koon or Noa or Kry would know the answer, still though just because Dawn didn';t know if he was right, he'd figure he'd give it a shot anyway. "Well since it's a riddle, I'm guessing there's some kind of trick behind it that either, presumes the last bit of hay was not in fact the last of all the hay in the pile, or that the hay may have been re-used but although that is doubtful." Dawn rubbed his forhead trying to calm himself down. "Assuming we have unlimited guesses within the 10 miuntes, I'm guessing the hay may have been at the bottom of the pile but maybe it wasn't the last in all the pile?"
Final Fantasy Revolution
"That is incorrect, sir." Myto said back to Dawn with his eyes closed, he rose a cigarette to his mouth and lit it, taking a drag and blowing smoke out. After opening his eyes he looked up at the group, awaiting more answers. This was also something new, Myto had never answered the guesses of any other group with a straight yes or no answer, was he really just playing some kind of game? Was this not a serious test at all? Ghoulish
Dawn was quite stumped by this. He was wrong? That was all he had in ind, Dawn began to panick however trying to hide it as best he can, strength, speed and swordsmanship were his best qualities, brain teasers and riddles were not. He looked at his team, thinking to himself. "That's all I have to give, if one of you don't know the answer we'll be done for." Dawn folded his arms in an attempt to calm down. He began remembering his past when he was on a mountain peak with his father when he was younger. The 2 were sitting down across from each other wearing white robes, clouds were still visible on this mountain peak and the air was much thinner. "Let me ask you something Dawn." His father began causing Dawn to sigh and reply. "Hmph, okay what now?" "You want to become a great swrodsman, but you never think of what can go wrong. Why is that?" Dawn pointed his thumb at himself and surfaced a confident smirk. "Because I'll never lose! I don't care what it is, I'll succeed at anything!" His father smiled. "That is a good attitude to have but what if you are in a poisition where there appears to be no way out, if you haven't prepared for that scenario, no doubt you might meet your end." Dawn then began thinking to himself and then replied. "I guess I'll just try until I die!" Yu Hansung
Koon stood in the back of the group, having known most of the rankers by name and them all being able to recognize her on sight. She had done this in the hope that the ranker wouldn't give them a harder test than the others, just because of her. Looks like that didn't work, She thought to herself, sighing heavily. "Hello, Myto." Koon said, moving forward. "Let me try. From what we can tell is the the farmer is alone, and he just baled the last bit of hay. There is no one else that could have put it there and as we now know your answer was incorrect, that is an impossibility as well." Koon was smiling to herself now, realizing something that most people wouldn't think of. "Almost every riddle has an answer. Almost. The answer is there is no answer to this riddle. It's an impossibility." Koon smiled openly at giving this answer, absolutely sure it was the correct answer. Final Fantasy Revolution
Myto wasn't exactly surprised by this, he kept the same facial expression he'd always have and than finished his cigarette and put it out in the ashtray. "Your answer is indeed correct, your father was indeed smart but in the end he wasn't the one to pass this test for his team." Myto said and than yawned, the door to the resting room sliding open. "Not every riddle has an answer, I'm glad that you don't seem to over think basic things, such as your father did when he was younger." The group was escorted into the rest room and the group of Kazeek, Rotan, Q, and Ka Rye were escorted into the room. "Welcome, in this test you will be getting a riddle in which you have ten minutes to solve and if you can not, you will die. There will be no hints, help, clues, or repeats of the riddle; you have unlimited guesses but I will not clarify if your right or wrong, you'll know when you are right." The group just stood there, waiting for their riddle. "I never was, am always to be, No one ever saw me, nor ever will, And yet I am the confidence of all, To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball, What am I?" The group was stunned, looking around at each other. "I can solve this, just give me an hour..." Q said, which earned him punch in the back of the head by Rotan, the female of the group. "You only have ten minutes, fool!" Rotan yeld and then looked at Kazeem. "What do you have." She said commandingly. "Uh..." Kazeek said and just backed away from Rotan then looked at Ka Rye. "Any ideas?" He asked subtly.
