I think it's odd that they just inverted Twilight's color scheme for Moon Dancer

I can't back this up beyond speculation but the first thing that came to mind when looking at Moon Dancer's color scheme and even design and haircut was:

There must be a toy of this running around.

 

You know, Hasbro tends to recycle a few traits from characters and name them differently when making toys... kind of cheap, but I've seen it.

So I thought it must be pocking fun a something like that.

 I enjoyed the episode quiet well. It wasn't "Amending Fences" good but it was still very well done with only a few things I personally would've changed.

 

Though this episode did have a lot of CONTINUITY!!!!

And I love that sheet . . .

 

When I first saw the episode, not knowing anything about it like I normally do, I was shocked to see Luna turning back into Nightmare Moon and completely confused. Of course I wasn't that displeased when I learned it was a dream, due to the title of the episode, and assumed that the episode would deal with Luna trying to get rid of her nightmare- I was kind of right, but wrong in all of the best ways.

 

It's good to see Tank back, guess that means Winters over . . .

With Episode 100 I'm always wondering what Gummy's thinking whenever I see him now. Thanks Larson!

 

I don't know who has been writing Spike recently, but in this episode and the last one he is AMAZING! Seriously this is probably the best I've seen him written in a long while. He needs to be played as the "straight man" to the zaniness that is the mane six.

 

For the dreams they were decent enough and anything about them that would seem "odd" I can chalk up to them not realizing it was a dream until Luna arrived.

 

So the dreams were, as followed with my opinions:

  1. Rarity dreams about dancing dresses which turn into monsters to eat her; I can see this being a dream for her.
  2. Pinkie Pie dreams about . . . uh . . . I honestly don't know WHAT her dream was about; Pinkie Pie is Pinkie Pie. No explanation needed.
  3. Fluttershy dreams about being a pet and the nightmare becomes a giant, evil Angel Bunny attacking her; honestly this is probably the weakest dream to be and is so filled with overtone that I just KNOW fans are going to latch onto the "submissive pet" for more perverted works.
  4. Applejack dreams about apples and then they all rot; God damn it never mind Fluttershy's dream being the weakest, this one is! Applejack isn't just funking apples!!!
  5. Rainbow Dash's dream I actually laughed at because it seems like something she would find being "an enjoyable dream" while her nightmare was my nightmare; There is only ONE change I'd make to Rainbow Dash's dream and it would've floored me for a good ten minutes with laughter.
  6. Twilight dreams about reading which, unlike Applejack, I can accept because that does seem like something she'd enjoy. Her nightmare being about the books attacking her . . . not so much; I honestly thought cheesy quesadillas would make an appearance, further cementing the idea Twilight is scared of them.

 

Alright now for what I would've done for the dreams . . . it's actually quite easy. The dreams need to be something the mane six would desire, but couldn't achieve either at all or immediately in real life; that's why Scootaloo flying in the dream world was so potent, because we all know in the real world she can't.

 

So for the mane six I'd have:

  1. Rarity as the star attraction for a fashion show where everypony praised her craftsmanship. When it turns into a nightmare all of her dresses become ugly and no matter how hard she tried Rarity can't make them look good, having lost her talent, and thus everyone begins abandoning her.
  2. Pinkie Pie . . . I wouldn't change a thing. Pinkie Pie is Pinkie Pie.
  3. Since Fluttershy is an introvert I'd have loved if her dream was her singing in front of a large crowd and not getting scared at all. While this is something she can do in real life, it's not something immediate; thus making this dream a very nice one. Her nightmare, to me, would be reverting to her "bully" self and having no matter what she says to someone else, they hear her insulting them.
  4. Applejack I'd have spotting her parents in the distance, silhouetted, and say, "Ma? Pa? Wow! It's good t' see y'all again! It's been so long!" This neither confirms nor denies that Applejack's parents are dead, as it can easily be taken as she hasn't seen them in a while because they're travelling abroad. Her nightmare would simply be her trying to run to her parents and having them constantly be moving away, making it impossible to ever reach them.
  5. Like I said, I'd only change ONE thing about Rainbow Dash's nightmare, since her dream I agree with; this was honestly the first thing that popped in my head when I heard the music. I'd have it so Rainbow looses her wings, drops to the ground, and when she looks up into a mirror that appears she looks like Generation 3 Rainbow Dash. When another pony from Generation 3 calls her name Rainbow Dash, with the mirror showing what she looks like to others, turns her head with a raised eyebrow and asks in Generation 3 Rainbow Dash's voice, "Yes, darling?" before clamping her mouth shut with both fore hooves and wide, horrified eyes.
  6. Twilight I'd have back in Golden Oaks library, talking about how lucky they (she and Spike) were that Tirek's attack barely missed her home, with Ponyville Castle visible through the back window. The nightmare begins with her stepping on a cheesy quesadilla and, after backing out of Golden Oaks Library, she discovers that all of the villains she and her friends have returned and have her friends captured.

 

Now for the actual Ponyville-wide dream. Wow . . . just . . . wow. More continuity but some missed opportunities as well. You could've gotten REALLY crazy with everything that happens in the dream world, but because it's all because of Luna's guilty conscious have it amount to nothing.

 

Though I say this Lyra/Bon-Bon Catdog was funny and good to see the call backs.

 

Although am I the only one who wanted Minuette, after Twilight asks everyone in Ponyville for help, to have shouted, "Sure! No thing Twilight!"

I mean it would've connected "Amending Fences" so well!!!

 

Though all in all a good episode: A-

Okay so I spotted Fluer De Lis and, of course, Cadence in the special. Also with Flash talking about Twilight makes me think that instead of Pony Twilight he'll be with Human Twilight. I can support that.

 

Still have NEVER gotten a reason to hate him, though at the same time I've never been given a reason to hate him. I'm indifferent.

Flash only got backlash because he was showcased/mentioned a few months, or whatever, in advance before the first movie came out. At the time, all we had were just those awkward early images of Equestria Girls(which was another can of worms at the time), and given the fact that they implied dating was a thing/the show would be more about boys/highschool dogmas/etc, it rose a lot of suspicion about Equestria Girls being what kills G4, and Flash was to blame for it.

So it's easy to understand why some people had issues with Flash.

 

Me, I didn't really care too much for either direction they implied the show would go in, since I still knew they would play a lot of it for laughs, which is what they did.

 

'Course, the show never became the next BratZ series that said people feared it would become, so all of that shitstorm eventually blew over, and they all got over it.

I don't remember you saying any of this, so I am going to take your word that you have said this all before and have merely forgot.

 

I didn't know this was the reason because, in all honesty, it was the Equestria Girls movie that got me into watching the actual show on a regular basis. I had no knowledge of what already-made fans thought of the movie before it came out. Thanks for letting me know and now I can see why some people had issue with the character.

 

I think or at least sincerely hope that the case is most flax Flash Sentry gets is made as a joke. Hell! I laugh at the jokes of "no one likes you" and "waifu stealer" because it's just too ridiculous to consider being true.

 

I for one actually ship Twilight and Flash AS LONG as they give Flash actual funking characteristics; the fandom has done, as it always does, a good job of this by making him a serious, hard working guard who happens to also be a good older brother yet doesn't seem to notice that Twilight is interested in him.
