A disdainful frown crossed his lips behind his scarf as he took note of the much larger creature that seemed to be their leader. [i]"So many years passed upon this world,"[/i] He thought, the red glare from his eyes intensifying, [i]"so many legendary beasts encountered, enslaved, or simply slain and [b]THESE[/b] are the ones that stand in my way now." [/i]His thoughts trailed off, though if any of the party were able to notice they would certainly feel the gathering of magical energies in the air around the sorcerer. After only a few moments, an orb of bright red light began to coalesce in the exact center of either of his palms. He kept his fingers curled inward, and soon they were defining the borders of these orbs. In the mean time, the others had been charged by the first few groups of the beasts and were fending them off. They would find that their weapons, impregnated as they were with the magic of light, left either deep slashes through the shadowy entities from which spider webs of cracks spread outward, this being the case for blades and the like, or crushed deep into their bodies and left indentations from which large shattered chunks and fine ground powder fell. Those shadow beasts struck by these light weapons would fall after only a few well placed blows, but their claws and fangs seemed mostly immune to the magic. The first creatures felled were struck down by surprise, having thought themselves invincible. The next few waves realized the magi and would be working to parry the strikes as best they could. In the mean time, Senak was still building up more light in his palms. "Just keep them off me for a few more moments and I'll give them something to really worry about."
