Many generations ago, the Beast Tribe and the men of Arcania lived in complete peace. This peace not only formed strong friendships, but strong victories in battles and wars. There was never any conflict between the Beastmen and the humans...
That is, until he arrived. One day, a man arrived from a far away land. His name was Volekhannt. He quickly became known for his combat finesse. He even became right hand to the king of Arcania within three years of his arrival.
Then, out of nowhere, Arcania's king was assassinated. No trace of the murderer remained. Thus Volekhannt, became King Volekhannt. Immediately after his rise to power, he declared the Beastmen guilty of treason, and their king was hung. After that, nothing was ever the same. The Beastmen chose a new ruler, known as Tigra, who declared war on Arcania.
That was 25 years ago, and the war has waged since. The Beastmen created an empire, which they called the Kingdom of the Fang. Volekhannt remained king and continued to send forces after the Beastmen in hope to eradicate them entirely.
And now, you and your brethren are the only ones with the ability to fight back.
(OOC: We've officially started. Hopefully this goes pretty well)

Varrun's team scouted the area, searching for left over stragglers from the team of human's they'd annihilated only moments before.
"Sir," Graemjor said, "I think we're clear."
"Good, Graemjor," Varrun replied, "Let's head east and try to take down more infiltration teams. I think it'll not only aid the armies, but it'll give us an advantage to possibly get at their main forces."
"Yes, sir." Graemjor, Yggarus, and Forjein said in unison.
The small team started towards their destination, just as the humans prepared a devastating attack, consisting of at least twenty men.

Lukas looked at his wrist-sundial. Now was the time that the group of Beastmen were passing by. He saw them coming down the road, and tipped his hat at the 3 other archers. He fired an arrow at one of the Beast,a fox looking one. He decided that the fox was going to give them the most trouble. The body burst into a cloud of smoke, blocking off the site of the people inside the cloud, and on the outside. A spear flew out of the cloud of smoke, impaling a poor archer. He fell to the ground. Enraged, Luke fired arrows into the ground, creating lots of explosions, hoping to hit somebody.

(OOC: Mecha Pedobear, this is your regiment.)

(OOC: Varrun's squad consists of only 3 beastmen, none of them are foxes. It's a tiger, wolf, and eagle, all under the lead of Varrun.)

Varrun drew his blade once more, clearing the smoke from his eyes and searching for a target. He scanned the area, finding only silhouettes and flying arrows all around him.
"Where are you, cowards?!" Yggarus snarled, "I'll tear your flesh from your bones with my own two teeth! Just you wait! You'll be my dinner!"
"Easy Yggarus," Graemjor said, "They'll die soon enough. Just be patient. You let your rage take hold of you sometimes, my friend. You need to learn patients."
"Indeed, my friends," Forjein said, "Allow me to go first."
With that, Forjein took to the sky and started firing arrows down at the enemies.

Xero ran into the forest, away from the authorities chasing him. He had stolen the watch right off of one, and they didn't find the feat interesting. As soon as he was out of sight, he climbed up a tree and waited for a minute. The cops ran past him. He knew even if they lost him, they'd keep looking in the same general direction. After another few minutes, he figured it was safe to get down again.

On his way down, his heart stopped, as a rogue arrow was an inch short of his head. He turned around, but saw no one. He could hear, though, not to far away, some fighting. If it was of the war, there would certainly be humans, who love strapping bags of money to themselves. Xero went to take a look. As he approached, he knew it wouldn't be safe on the ground. There was cursing and explosions. He would have to get back up in the trees to see what was going on and for a Birdseye view.

It looked like it was only a few humans to three beastmen. Not very good odds. For the humans. But, what was it of matter to him? It looked like some of the human archers were carrying money with them. It'd be best to wait out the battle for the beastmen to win, then come in for some graverobbing.

(OOC: Xero didn't notice that there are 20 humans. He only noticed four or five, what with the smoke.)

Forjein fired an arrow, allowing it to pierce the throat of some unfortunate human zealot. He continued flying through the air, allowing arrows to rain down upon his foes.
Varrun, however, was too busy with avoiding arrows to notice the human running towards him. The human knocked the blade clean from Varrun's hands, leaving him defenseless, other than his fists... and horns. Varrun smashed the horns on his elbows into the human's temples, utterly slaughtering him. Then, out of the corner of his eye he noticed the young tiger man in the distance.
"Forjein! Yggarus! Graemjor! Hold the line! I'll be right back!" Varrun yelled to his comrades.
Graemjor, losing his focus, took an arrow to the back.

Varrun charged over to Xero, as quickly as possible, and through muffled pants, said, "Hey kid, what the hell are you doing out here?! Can't you see that there's a fight only feet away from you?!"

"Don't worry, pal, I've got eyes." Xero responded sarcastically, as he layer on his back on the tree branch. His intention was to remain nonchalant to the situation, when he glanced over at the scene of the battle, and saw an archer aiming for Varrun. He had to act fast. The archer took his shot.

"Look out!" Xero shouted, as he launched himself onto Varrun. The arrow had barely missed the both of them, and landed only a few feet away. Xero sighed, and got up from the ground, helping Varrun up, too. Xero pat Varrun on the shoulder. "You know, you should really pay attention."

With that Xero turned the Rhino-man to face the enemy, and darted away, back into the forest. Of course, his curiosity wouldn't allow him to get too far away. He got back, this time in a different tree, and definitely out of sight.

"I.... uh... thanks!" Varrun yelled in the direction of Xero's departure. Soon enough, the enemy had began to retreat, and most of the stragglers were executed.
"Graemjor, how's your back, my friend?" Forjein said sympathetically.
"I've been worse," Graemjor responded, "I'm more worried about you, Forjein. One of them razed your wing pretty badly with a fire arrow. Do you think you'll be alright?"
"A few feathers were burned off, but no serious damage."
"Hey Varrun!" Yggarus yelled, "I know you're my commander and all, but why the hell did you run off in the middle of the fight?!"
"Easy Yggarus," Varrun replied, "I saw a tiger man, I wanted to make sure he was okay. He was fine. I came back as soon as possible. Remember Yggarus, fighting isn't our only goal. Our goal is to help, even if that means tending to a civilian in the middle of a fight."
Yggarus shook his head, "Damnit Varrun, you're my commander, but I don't agree with every damn thing you say."

(Changing to first person, if you don't mind..)

I got up from 'Dead' position and rubbed my head. I took out a whistle and blew it tought three times. The Majority of the platoon he had with him got up and rubbed their heads. It was an odd habit of the humans, to rub their heads when they got up. I was mad that he had been shown up by a couple of animals. There was a small one, crouching in the trees, with a sort of horn. He noticed my platoon, and tried to blow his horn. I quickly fired an arrow into him, and he fell to the ground, dead. I decided to blow the horn, and out came running a bunch of beastmen. I smirked. Within 50 seconds, they were all killed by arrows or swords. I then got up, and started swinging from tree to tree, coming closer and closer to their next destanation, a large merchant village...

(OOC: First person makes it seem kinda awkward, almost like your character is narrating the whole thing...)

Varrun looked startled at Yggarus. "You'd dare talk to me like that? I am your commander. You don't have to agree with what I say, but you do have to shut your mouth about it!"
With that, Varrun pushed Yggarus to the floor. "Y... You bastard!"
Yggarus lunged at Varrun and pinned him to the floor.
"You listen to me, Varrun,' Yggarus said, "I am going to let you live, but just this once. If we ever meet like this again, I will be the only one leaving alive. You're no longer a commander, you're just a rusty, leather-skinned has-been."
And with that, a disgruntled Yggarus left the scene, muttering swears under his breath.

Xero was surprised the humans retreated. Humans are usually stubborn, and won't stop until someone died. Well, either way, this was his chance to look for loot. The other beastmen weren't facing the enemies, and one corpse looked like it had a lot of coins in his bag. Xero silently lowered himself from the tree and kept low to the ground as he went for the money.

Suddenly, all five beastmen could hear stomping from the direction of the retreating humans. Another human was rushing at Xero with a staff. Xero didn't move. He wasn't frozen in fear. Xero isn't a fighter, so he flees. His tactics are to let the enemy get close, then dash in another direction. The human was about to stri-

Suddenly, a huge, flaming bird, dove from the sky and tackled Xero, knocking him past the other four beastmen. He landed unconscious. The human had stopped, and the bird had disappeared. Valefor stuck his staff into the ground and began to speak. "You beasts have no hope here. You may have defeated my battalion, but now you have to face me. And I swear, none of you will make it to see dusk!"

Valefor turned to his platoon and barked orders. "Follow Lukas to the village! I'll finish these four." As the archers left, Valefor disconnected his staff, producing two smaller staves. He began to glow a yellow aura, and out of nowhere another large electrified bird materialized in front of him. He charged at the beasts, and so did the bird...

"s***!" Varrun yelled, "Men, evasive maneuvers! Get behind something! I will not let any of you die!"
Varrun's squad call took cover behind the largest rocks and trees they could find, bracing for impact. It seemed like they had to wait for an eternity to find the assault.
"Kid, what are you doing?" Graemjor yelled to Xero, "take cover... damnit! He's knocked out!"
Graemjor ran out in the middle of the battlefield, shielding Xero, and preparing for Valefor and his bird's strike. As he took a moment to process the events at hand, he looked down at the boy he was holding. A tigerman, just like him. Graemjor wouldn't let him die, not if it meant giving his own life.
"Hang on, kid, I promise you'll make it out of here."

"The terrain won't save you now." Valefor said, as the beastmen ran and hid like cowards. The one he had knocked out earlier was unconscious. He could take this opportunity to vaporize him with Quetzalcoatl's lightning. Valefor jumped into the air, and Quetzalcoatl matched his height. As he fell to the ground, he acted as if striking something with the staff in his right hand. Quetzalcoatl dove down and struck his right wing in a similar manner, creating a wave of lightning. The electricity struck the trees and shook the ground. It was about to hit the unconscious tiger.

Suddenly, the older tiger shielded the younger from the attack. The older definitely took the brunt of the attack, and was still standing. Valefor was shocked and.... touched, though he didn't realize it. He knew he had to defeat the beastmen, but one risked their life for the other. Any of his men wouldn't do that for him. He... decided to retreat for now. Quetzalcoatl vanished in a yellow light. Valefor looked at the beastmen and said, in a solemn, grave voice, "This isn't over. I won't hesitate next time."

With that, he ran off to catch up with his archers...

Graemjor let go of Xero, and fell. His breaths were slow and heavy, as though he'd ran a million miles. Varrun saw, and ran over.
"Graemjor!" he said, "Are you alright? What did he even do to you?"
"I... n, I... I'll be alright," Graemjor panted, "I don't know what he hit me with. I just knew I had to save the kid. He looked so... helpless... I just couldn't bear to see him die without even giving a good fight back..."
Varrun looked at Graemjor and smiled, "You old softy. I remember a time when it was me risking my neck for you. I guess you learned a little, huh?"
Graemjor chuckled and looked over at Xero. "How are you kid? You didn't get hurt too bad, did you? By the way, we never found out your name, if you'd be willing to share it."
Varrun looked at Xero and shook his head. "Kid, you have no idea how lucky you are to have had Graemjor risk that for you. I hope you don't take it lightly."

When Graemjor dropped Xero, it knocked him awake. He felt like he had ran through flames, and now there was electricity in the air. For a moment, he thought he was dead. Then he realized two horrible things. One, he wasn't dead. Two, one of the soldiers had risked his life for him. He had to repay somehow.

Xero listened as the two remaining beastmen talked about how one was a big softy and risked his life for others often. Xero felt like these guys were old timers reminiscing about the old day. He laughed a little on the inside. Then the laughing died as he did on the inside when the tiger man, who he figure rescued him, asked him his name. Xero sat up almost immediately. He had new friends. He didn't want them to realize he was a notorious thief. But lying's not a good start. What should he do?

Then Varrun started to say how lucky Xero was that the tiger man, apparently named Graemjor saved him. "Then I guess it's your turn to save Graemjor's life." Xero said with a chuckle. Xero saved Varrun, and Graemjor saved Xero. Now it was his turn. But for now, Xero felt his stomach sink, as he said his next line. "As for my name...... it's Terra."

"Terra, huh?" Varrun thought, "Well, if you don't mind I have a question for you. Why on earth were you all the way out here where people like that could get to you? You could've been killed if we weren't around to save your ass."
"Go easy on him," Graemjor said, sitting up and shaking off the damage. He still looked injured, but the way he moved around, for the most part, suggested otherwise. "See? I'm fine!"
"My friend," Forjein finally chimed in, "It appears we should at least get you medical attention back in the kingdom. I suggest we escort our new friend as well, just to be sure he's safe on his way back. After all, I'm sure there's at least someone looking for you."

"I'm twenty-three, not sixteen." Xero responded to Forjein, "But thanks for the concern." Xero got off the ground and dusted his pants off. He had char marks on his pants and t shirt, while some parts of Graemjor's armor looked a little petrified, like from electricity. He couldn't help but wonder who that guy with the staff was, and what exactly he could do. He pushed his worries aside for now, and look to his friends. "And what are your names, rhino and... birdie."

Xero had a smug face on calling Forjein birdie, but it hid the worry building up inside...

"Very well," Forjein said, "We look out for our own, I just thought we should offer. And I'm Forjein."
"I'm Varrun," Varrun smiled.
"You don't get it, do you Forjein," Graemjor smirked, "We tigermen can take a lot more than you birds, pal. I mean, look at me! I just got electrocuted and I'm still okay! You worry too much."
"I just don't want to see my comrade fall in unnecessary circumstances," Forjein said, "But enough dawdling, we should bring the battle to the enemy while they're still expecting us to be defensive."
"Hey kid," Gramjor said, gesturing to Xero, "Do you know how to fight? Or at least use a sword and sneak around for some assassinations? After Yggarus left, we could use another man."
"Are you serious, Graemjor?" Varrun said, "You just risked your life to save this boy, and now you want him to put himself on the line for us? No, absolutely not."

"Sorry, Graemjor. I'd have to agree with Varrun. A: I'm not a fighter, and B: you're not in the best of shape." Xero pressed a finger on Graemjor's arm to prove his point. That part of his arm seemed fine to the naked eye. The skin underneath his fur, though, was slightly red. When Xero pressed his finger on it, Graemjor shouted in agony and gripped his arm. "Your nerves are fried. Your electrocution over sensitized your nerve endings. A single hit and you'll fall from pain. You need to rest and let your nerves heal. I know because the same happened to me when I was hit by a police sage's... Uh... stray electrical attack."

Xero rubbed the back of his head, ashamed that he had to keep lying. But he figured it was better this way. He just hopes that they decide to go to a different town so no one here would expose him.

"I... I suppose you're right," Graemjor said, "If I did fall there, very much of what's happened already would be in vain. I suppose I didn't make it this far just to be murdered by those scum. Come on, all of you, let's go back the the kingdom and see what kind of help we can find. I want to be in as good of shape as possible to take down that bastard who electrocuted me."
"Then let's go," Varrun said. The other's stepped forward about five feet before realizing Xero wasn't moving. "Everything alright, Terra? I figured you'd at least want to stop in at the kingdom. By the way, you never answered our question. What are you even doing all of the way out here by yourself? Don't you know that this is human ground?"

"Uh, yea," Xero said, "everything's fine. I just forgot... That I left my jacket back in the forest. You see, I didn't realize this was human territory before, so I was chased by a few. One of them managed to tear off my jacket. I managed to escape them, when I hid in the tree. Then I saw you guys fighting the humans. I'd figured you could take them." Xero hoped, nay, prayed they'd believe him. It was actually a pretty good lie if you didn't know Xero. "I think I remember where it was dropped. Not too far from here. Be right back."

With that, Xero ran off into the forest. He had to materialize a jacket, fast. Not only would it give the others proof, but it would provide a temporary disguise for the kingdom. He found a dead archer not to far off. He took the archer's uniform off, and tore off all the logos, removing any hint that it could have been human. He put the 'jacket' on. It actually looked pretty good on him. This would be believable. He jogged back to his friends. "Found it. Let's go."

Varrun nodded and lead the way back to the kingdom. When they arrived at the gate, a group of guards approached.
"Business?" the leader of the guards said, eyeing down the beastmen.
"I am Varrun, squad leader in the Fang Royal Army. I am returning from a recon expedition that was unsuccessful and lead to my squad member being injured. We need to get him medical attention to be sure he's not hurt."
"Alright," the guard said, moving aside, and studying the group once more until he noticed Xero, "Wait! Who are you? You don't look like any royal warrior I've seen? What's your name, what are you doing with these people of importance?
"That's Terra," Graemjor said, "he's with us. Just let us through."
"No," the guard said, signaling his men to block the way to the kingdom. "Explain yourselves."

"Look, my name is Terra Branford. I'm with these men because we had fought off some humans together. Now, with all due respect, if there isn't anymore trouble, we'd like to get some rest." Xero tried to act tough yet polite, and it looks like it was working. The guard seemed to accept his recount of what happened.

"Very well," the guard said, signaling his men to let them in, "you may enter."

Xero and the others walked into the kingdom. His disguise, though limited, seemed to be working. He let his friends walk ahead of him, since he had no idea where to go. And now that he thought of it.

He liked that name. Terra Branford. Could catch on.

"Terra," Graemjor said, "We're gonna go see Emperor Tigra. You can join us if you want, but it's all up to you, I guess." Graemjor scratched his head waiting for a reply.
"Actually," Forjein said, "I have something to take care of while you guys do that, I'll see you in a few hours." Then, Forjein flew off into the distant, destination completely in mind.
"Well?" Varrun said, "What'll it be, are you coming to see Tigra with us or are you just going to wait while we tell him what's going on? Either way will be completely fine. It's your decision."

Seeing the Emperor? That'd be pretty exciting. No one in the Riyal Guard, or in anything 'Royal' for that matter, had even seen him as Xero. Graemjor and company had been the first. He figured it'd be safe even if the Emporer and his guards saw him; no one would recognize him.

But, what purpose would Xero... err... Terra... serve in front of Tigra? Hell if he's drafted to the army. Then again, this could be the only time he can see the Emperor. Xero's thoughts danced at the idea of the riches surrounding Tigra. "Alright then. I'll go see Emperor Tigra with you guys. I just hope I won't be... I mean, it wouldn't be any trouble if I was there."
