so, after taking a much longer absence from this site than i ever intended to, i'm back. i wanted to post here that i will be posting the first pole as soon as possible. it will remain for one week, unless i decide to extend it for some still-unforeseen reason. this will act as a preview, so i will only be focusing on pairings between my posted characters and existing Yu-Gi-Oh! characters at the moment.

Could you provide links to the stories that the characters appear in? I have no idea what they're from.

And, since I've been posting chapters from my ancient, unfinished story Yu-Gi-Oh! Raging Gods, why the hell not submit one of the characters from it?

Yamimaru is basically the original version of a character that has gone through a huge amount of revision and very little change, and who I will definitely put in some story some day, under the name Kira (no relation to legendhiro's Kira...).

-Name: Yamimaru
-Description: Tall, slender, blond, [s]bishounen[/s]. Wears an Obelisk Blue jacket.
-Deck:
Just a general idea...

Relinquished*
Dark-Eyes Illusionist*
Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
Senju of the Thousand Hands
Sonic Bird (?)
Djinn Presider of Rituals
Djinn Releaser of Rituals
Armageddon Knight
Chaos Sorcerer
Lava Golem (?)

Also, possibly as an alternate strategy:
Garandolf, King of Destruction
Advanced Ritual Art
Zoa
Ritual Raven

Black Illusion Ritual
Mystical Space Typhoon
Heavy Storm
Monster Reborn
Allure of Darkness
Metamorphosis
Foolish Burial

Magic Cylinder
Draining Shield
Call of the Haunted
Threatening Roar
Mirror Force

Extra Deck:
Thousand-Eyes Restrict*

*These monsters are played with slightly different effects, as follows:

Dark-Eyes Illusionist: Once per turn, when a monster your opponent controls attacks, you can negate the attack, and that monster cannot attack while it is face-up on the field.

Relinquished: Once per turn, you can equip 1 monster your opponent controls to this card (max. 1). This card's original ATK and DEF become its ATK and DEF. When this card would be destroyed by battle, destroy the equipped monster instead. When this card battles while equipped with a monster and you would take Battle Damage from that battle, inflict that Battle Damage to your opponent instead.

Thousand-Eyes Restrict: Identical to Relinquished, plus no other monsters can attack.
-Play Style: Conservative and methodical. Yamimaru is Dangerously Genre Savvy in that he utilizes core concepts of the game - he maintains card advantage, and is well aware of how OP'd Burn is when you're playing with 4000 LP. He does not rely on topdecking.
-Mannerisms: Arrogant, but deservedly so. He finds the actions of ordinary people more amusing than anything else. Extremes of emotion, whether anger, sadness, or fear, he finds irritating, because he does not see why people cannot compose themselves.
-General: Had I actually finished Raging Gods, he would have beaten her in the tournament finals. Then, at the end of the story, there would be a three-on-one duel against him. He would win again. It's ridiculously self-centered to say "noep my caracter r better den all of urs so he wins", but, idk, keep that in mind.

Screw those, and do Jack vs. Kaiba.

But if you insist...Max is the guy who uses the Spirit Reaper deck, right?

as for the character, approval is pending, since i want to say i've done the research, but i'd say your chances are pretty good.

I'm going with Tucker v Jonouchi. And I forgot, I meant to submit a character from my fic earlier:

The deck lists may have some anime/manga only cards, but I'm leaving out the custom ones as I tend to use few of them.

-Name: Drake
-Description: A tall seventeen year old Japanese male, somewhat athletic. Drake has black hair, usually untidy from being kept under a helmet while D-Wheeling and tends to wear either black or dark red or blue clothing.
-Deck: Drake plays a Blackwing deck like his father, supporting them with their own support cards, a few staples, and DARK support cards like Allure of Darkness, using Dark End Dragon as his ace. His strategy usually revolves around swarming with his monsters, and using Vayu in his Graveyard. However, while he has them, he tends to avoid using the Synchro staples.
Monsters:
-Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North x2
-Blackwing - Bora the Spear
-Blackwing - Elphin the Raven
-Blackwing - Fane the Steel Chain
-Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
-Blackwing - Gust the Backblast
-Blackwing - Jin the Rain Shadow
-Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow
-Blackwing - Mistral the Silver Shield
-Blackwing - Sirocco the Dawn
-Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame
-Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor
-Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite
-Dark Armed Dragon
-D.D. Crow
-Necro Gardna

Extra Deck;
-Ally of Justice Catastor
-Blackwing Armed Wing x2
-Blackwing Armor Master
-Black-Winged Dragon [In deck after Ch. 4]
-Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
-Dark End Dragon
-Orient Dragon

Spell Cards:
-Akashic Record
-Allure of Darkness
-Black Whirlwind
-Book of Moon
-Burial From a Different Dimension
-Foolish Burial
-Forbidden Lance
-Monster Reborn
-Monster Reincarnation
-Mystical Space Typhoon
-Pot of Avarice
-Smashing Ground
-Spellbook Inside the Pot

Trap Cards:
-Bottomless Trap Hole
-Mirror Force
-Nutrient Z
-Shock Draw
-Solemn Judgement
-Play Style: Drake doesn't usually go into a duel with a strategy, and just uses whatever is in his hand the best he can. However, after defeating his father, Drake begins to duel more ruthlessly, focusing more on staples like Orient and Brionac, and ignoring his Blackwings, using them and even his favorite monster, Dark End Dragon, only as stepping stones for monsters like those and Dark End.
-Mannerisms: Generally a serious person, somewhat fixed on the past.
-General: Drake blames his father for the death of his mother and brother, driving him to join an evil organization and even attempt to murder his father.
i like it. it will give me an excuse to have pit a pre-synchro era duelist against a synchro user. i might even be able to work time travel in there somewhere. plus, blackwings are kinda awesome.

so it looks like the winner is tucker vs. jonouchi! i've been thinking about how such a duel would go since it pulled ahead in the poll earlier this week, so you all can expect the actual duel to be posted later this week. also, i've decided that, since we still don't have too many submissions yet, the next duel will just be the runner up, john vs. yugi. thanks all for voting!

I don't understand why the character must be from a fan fiction.
simply because i need to have enough details to accurately characterize them in any short story that ends up featuring them. if someone were to submit a completely original character, including so many details that their characterization were completely clear, i would probably accept them whether they were from a fanfiction or not.

Hm...it was alright. Two things:
1) Graceful Dice, anime or otherwise, only lasts for one turn.
2) Where did that dice come from? If it was facedown, Infernal Flame Emperor would have destroyed it, right?
it most certainly doesnt last one turn in the anime. rewatch/read joey v. espa and joey v. marik.

of course it was targeted for destruction, but that doesn't mean that joey can't chain its activation to tucker's effect. tucker was just being too reckless to notice. they both made some mistakes in the duel, after all.

Welcome back big time!!

thank you, my friend. what did you think of the duel?

Hm, that was a pretty enjoyable Duel, though I don't really like the anime effects of the Dice being used.
i completely understand that, but as my own fanfiction, the one that tucker comes from, exists in the same continuity as the original anime, i had no excuse not to use them, so i used them. besides, the anime effects for the dice fit perfectly into the vision i had of the duel.
