.Rai
God, they are annoying. Personally, I think they can actually help people. Learn about strategy, generally work your brain, find other people with a common interest and having fun at the same time. As long as you play in moderation. Lonk
I don't like those people much. I could say that because of Video Games, I have a rather accelerated English skills and have good arithmatic skills. Take that Jack Thompson and all of you other people who rant about Video Games being bad for you.
Mehmani
If you look at the furore surrounding video games, it's identical to what people said about television in the decade it came out. People consider A Clockwork Orange to be art, so why isn't L.A. Noire? Grand Theft Auto 4 has some wonderfully funny satire in it. It's all prejudice, and it mostly comes from television running editorials on "the dangers of video games". There was a wonderful experiment where they took a ten-year-old boy who played Call of Duty etc. for several hours a day, and had done for a couple of years. They took him to a firing range and made him fire a machine gun. He did, missed the rather large target by several feet and then cried in his mother's arms because of the kick and the noise. "Video games condition children into killing machines". BULLSHIT.
Lonk
It truly is Alfred. It is propaganda from a higher generation of people that cannot admit that their time has flew past. It happens to everyone when they age: When they see something new and it is taking the majority of the population, they become afraid to accept fate and blaspheme what is new so that the population that is under the excitement would become just as hard and stiff-necked as the generation in charge. Resident Fascist
I read somewhere that games like Street Fighter make people violent. I literally said "That's Bs." and 90% of people in the room actually agreed.

Legokun
Me good sirs. So, an 8 year old kid can walk into a drug store and buy a pack of cigarettes or something without problems, which ARE deadly, but violent video games? "Nope, come back in 10 years AND THEN YOU CAN OWN THIS GAME THAT WILL TURN YOU INTO A KILLER." I find that a tad inconsistent, even for the US's standards. So, let's do some (not at all) math for a minute. 8 Year old kid + Drugs = Drug addict that spends all his time and effort trying to please his addiction. And nobody stops him. 8 Year old kid + Call of Duty = Cereal Killer Which can actually happen? Sorry if this sounds like it's trying to derail the topic, as it isn't trying to. I'm just saying the same idiots trying to get violent video games banned can be using their energy to say, make propaganda saying drugs will kill you, perhaps? Makο
Video games. While they don't exactly turn you into death machines, they can be bad for you, both physically and mentally. Physically, a man recently died because he played too much Xbox. Blood circulation was cut off. The fix? Move every few minutes. Between games, try doing sit ups, or jumping jacks. That's actually what I do. Also, keep your weight in check. Eat healthy, exercise, you know, the basics. It all depends on the player's willingness to comply. Mentally, the games aren't as much the problem. Mostly, it's all the trash talking the people do online. At times, it might cause you to rage, among other things. Though, this can be easily fixed. Just turn off chat capabilities. Either that, or stop trying to trash talk back. Just brush it off. I know that this is uncommon, mostly because games such as CoD, which is a prime example, tap into your competitive instinct if you get into it. That's why people resort to rage. They are just trying to let out their frustration, in a rather insulting or sometimes explosive manner. ...I forgot where I was going with this. Anyway, it's less the games that cause anger, and more the people. That, or lag. This is me, trying to sound smart. >>

I mean it tastes so f***ing good, and I need to kill it to eat it anyway. I'm such a horrible person, I know. Those cereals have family too. Boss Z
All i know is that we should live our life by the code of Mortal Kombat... in other words, if someone does so much as cut you in line you walk up to them, say something cool and relevant, then enter your idol animation and prepare to fight to the death... its simple, world would be so much better that way
TTR~
I believe most games are actual good for you (in moderation) [Hypocrite because I play forever]. My argument is that games teach you how to spend and save money, defend yourself should you be attacked (by zombies), and most of all increase hand-eye coordination. I think gaming is about the same as watching TV, well I believe gaming is better.

PowerlinX
If they say video games should be banned, then I will argue books should be banned, because you can learn stuff from video games just like you can learn stuff from books.
Or maybe they bought it because 90% of PS Move titles aren't shovelware. Last I checked you can play Killzone 3, SOCOM 5 and Dead Space Extraction with a Move Controller, these may appeal to those who aren't really interested in what the Wii has to offer in terms of Hardcore games (with the exception of Dead Space Extraction, as that's on the Wii)
Aniri Wulf
Yes, Games have their good and bad sides, but to say all games are completely and can only be bad for you, I say Bull S*!t. Lets review. Pros: Hand-eye coordination Some help you learn Can chose what you let your child plays Kids might be fascinated enough to work hard in school to work with video games after college Will help keep an opened mind Helps make you think in more ways than one Helps make new friends Cons: Might get addicted Might meet bad people online(if they go online) Thats all I can think of.You can add on if you want and tell me which is better; None, some, or all
Two-Hundred And One
Addiction can be fairly serious when it comes to some games. (remember that Everquest thing way back it the day?) And don't forget - gaming is an expensive habit. Really, really expensive.
Phœnīcius Infīnius VII
I hate those people. Have they not read the Bill of Rights? Well, I know you, Blazing, hasn't, but yeah. Right to Pursuit Happiness as long as you do not violate the rights of other citizens. Thats just how I look at it. Another hypocritical thing I HATE is in Black Ops when people say "Oh I hate Second Chance, and Flak Jacket'n's***" and then they go and use it. That really pisses me off and it's just one of the reasons why I don't play that game very much.
Not really. Unless you're one of those people who force themselves to update their computer every month because something's only slightly out-of-date, or the kind that needs to have every single new game released, gaming - compared to other hobbies - isn't that expensive.
