Murar Bonefang
The CASPIBAN Revolt : The Background :
The lore is set in an alternate world. This world has not known any world wars, the Hiroshima never happened. There are no lingering in-human images of Auschwitz or the militant animals of religious fanaticism. This is the setting in modern day Caspibas, where the strongest of the magicians have been employed by the government to do their bidding. Caspibas holds a stronghold on the world politics and diplomacy as they take place. In this myriad labyrinth, it so happens that some countries are pretty pissed off at Caspibas, for their tendency to flex their muscles where they are not required to. The people in charge are the Magicians, who have in their control the capability to call forth demons from another dimension, also the ability to do some minor magical spells. The magicians’ powers are determined by their psychic abilities. Based on the psychic abilities, the magicians have been classified into several different categories: Civilians: those with no psychic abilities at all. These are the lowest in ladder of the society, where they have to do the day-to-day mundane work. Gamma’s: These categories of people have some basic remnants of magic; they are the secretaries in the state, or the police officials who are still looked down upon. Delta’s: Delta ranked people are the ones which true power. They can call forth beings from the fourth dimension. Then they can then make them do their bidding. Depending on the psychic ability, they can down stronger and more evil beings, who are mellow in front of their commands. Beta’s: Beta ranked psychics are even more powerful, these people can call forth the beings without any prior preparations or enchantments. Such is their power that some of them even have chosen to enslave several such djinns as their slaves. Alpha’s: These people are rare, seen one in a billion; they possess such psychic capabilities that they can even shred apart the summoned demons in the blink of an eye. Or if they are kind enough might just bind the poor soul in the netherworld, such that it cannot be re-summoned by normal means. Due the rarity of these people and their potential rebellion capabilities, the government tries to hunt down and exterminate all the α’s. The Civilian Underground : The lower rung of this power struggle produced a significant criminal society among the civilians. There were some young kids, rabble from the streets, who were significantly immune to most magic’s. Only some brute summoned beasts could actually do some damage to them. Not only that these sneaks got around the psykers libraries and read books about magic, which enabled them to make use of several magical items. They are hunted down at the first chance, but it seems they keep on coming. The Tears of Tomasson This power surge of Caspibas resulted in establishment of several slave colonies overseas, where the natives are treated as the most prized commodities: Slaves. Not only it was free manpower, but there existed a thought among the Caspiban elites that they were actually making the natives “modern” by letting them stay with them. Also, they were considered as lucky charm, as somehow the puny miscreants failed in their tasks when the natives were around. Hardly had another century passed that one kind wizard declared to the world that the natives were the exact opposites of what the Caspiban were. They were termed “Vacant” as in not only did they didn’t have any psychic powers but they seemed to absorb psychic powers from a power holder. But they weren’t able to use that power. It seems the psychic power simply disappeared. This he had found out after testing with his own native slave, who surprisingly had a name, Tomasson. He was found dead in office the next day with the morning paper still in his hand, the tea in front of him, untouched. The government declared a state wide emergency since a minor slave had dared to commit such a crime. That day alone around eight thousand natives were beaten to death or the lucky ones committed suicide to escape the inhuman punishment meted out to them. Some, a group of 5 slaves who worked at the bakers’ were even luckier; they escaped in to the mountains to the north. The baker’s wife, who packed them, in a pouch rations for a week, was apparently more human while compared to the several other Caspiban “Elites” who had that day taken the life some several thousand slaves just because of a ruse. After 3 days of travelling these vagabonds found the fabled Tomasson, who they found sitting aside a pristine blue lake. There was blood in their minds as these people started to blame Tomasson, for the crime. Several dozen punches later, someone realized that Tomasson hadn’t resisted at all. The young man who was known as Erik asked Tomasson why he had killed his own master. There were tears in her eyes, as he explained what had actually transpired. “When Master Simon practiced his trade, I would stand by him watching what he did bit by bit I too picked up bits and pieces of magic. Some of the psychic powers that he used started to absorb into my body. That fateful morning, while making tea, I realized that I could make fire out of nothing, just by using a few words. When I went to my master to serve him his morning tea and told him of the same, my kind Master suddenly flew into a fit of laughter. I showed him the fire trick and then suggested that maybe some psychic powers were absorbed into my body. Out of nowhere my kind master Simon uttered a spell. The spell didn’t do what I was supposed to do. I was very angry at my master and my body stated to suck in all the life forces out of my master”. 2 hours after this, Tomasson passed away, the young slaves with a heavy heart buried their comrade, the first psyker near the lake. On the 7th day from this event, there were 2 events : The streets seemed to be full of leaflets that stated that the Agency called Tears of Tomasson was here to recruit all the ones that wanted to bring the current regime of the Caspiban down. The only aim of the ToT was the annihilate the leadership and thus get back their freedom. At a similar point in time, the northern natives declared independence from the Caspiban as well. If you are a civilian, you are either expected to plan with your fellow citizens how to overthrow the government or how to catch hold of the rogues. If you are a Wizard, you can either plan to decimate to rogue citizen or to topple the present rule and capture the seat of power for yourself. * some wizards are expected to be in the Colony to suppress the freedom fighters struggle for indipendence. If you are a freedom fighter, your aim is to topple the wizards in the colony and acheive freedom. If you are a member of Tears of Tomasson, you are necessarily an assassin and intend to kill off the wizards one by one. The GM and hopefully some of the other will take part in each of the sides.
