Accel you need to see them all, they are all well made and most are better than any anime movie you'll see out there.

And Thanatos I like Japanese games, I just can't read it XD
So I am hoping that comes out in America as well.

This is a good score

Ghibi movies are just too cartoonish and kiddy compared to like the popular anime movies.
Like the Bleach movies and One piece movies
[/quote]

Obviously you have never seen Nausicca nor Princess Mononoke
8 /

There is NOTHING childish or cartoony about them, not at all.

Yeah maybe if my mother had an affair . . .
highly unlikely seeing as she's only dated one man and my father >8D

Also!

1. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

If you don't see this one, you have NO right . . . and I mean absolutely none at all . . . to claim that a Studio Ghibli movie is bad and/or childish.
Set in a post apocalyptic world this story is so detailed it is scary. Music is amazing and the animation is top notch.
There is a REASON this single movie started Studio Ghibli and made Miyazaki famous the world 'round.

2. Castle in the Sky

This might count as one of the "childish" movies you were speaking about, but that doesn't take away from the storyline; nor the art nor the animation.
Did you know not only is Laputa from a novel?

3. My Neighbor Totoro

Another of the "childish" movies, but again the animation cannot be denied. While not my favorite something has to be said that Totoro was so popular not only does everyone in the world recognize him, but he became Ghibli's official mascot.

4. Kiki's Delivery Service

While you may think this is "childish" it actually has a deeper meaning if you look hard enough. Not wanting to spend the time figuring it out? Well the answer is:

The message is that as long as you believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything.

The story is charming and worth seeing. Did you know Miyazaki spent an entire afternoon looking at the way girl's skirts moved in the wind to prepare for this movie?

5. Only Yesterday

UNFORTUNATELY I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS ONE ; _ ;

6. Porco Rosso

Not at all a childish movie, but charming in many ways. This is Miyazaki's ideology of what it means to "be cool" and, if you ask me, being a Sea Pilot seems pretty f*cking cool too me. All the way this is one of my favorite for the underlying plots, not to mention Gina's song.

This song was made in Japanese, but based in Italy, dubbed in English . . . yet there is a French song in it
*head hurts*

7. Ocean Waves

UNFORTUNATELY I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS ONE EITHER ; _ ;

8. Pom Poko

Okay I'll admit this is one of my least favorite Miyazaki movies. A story about tanazuki protecting their forest from developers by means of their shape shifting powers.
I honestly say watch it once for the purpose of doing so . . .

9. Whisper of the Heart

This one IS good in my opinion. If you're looking for exciting plot it wont be for you, but realism is completely there; of course with animation and music. It is about a girl trying to find out what she can do and her relationship with a young man attempting to become a master violin craftsman.
This also is the first time you see the Barron, which is important later on . . .

10. Princess Mononoke

You think Ghibli movies are childish? Then this is going to prove you completely wrong. A story about a cursed warrior attempting to break said curse, there is more blood and death than most well made Hollywood horror movies. Seriously so many people loose limbs, eyes, or even their heads it makes you impossible to think, "This is just for kids."

11. My Neighbors the Yamadas

Never seen, but even my brother couldn't get through this 8 /

12. Spirited Away

Creepy. That is what this story is. Creepy, yet amazingly charming. It is about a young girl who manages to find her way into the Spirit world and has to escape, if only she can remember her true name. It is harder than you think if an evil witch makes you forget it.
An amazing piece it is not for children, most likely because it'd scare them sh*tless, but not something completely adult oriented.

13. The Cat Returns

Remember me talking about the Barron earlier? Well this is HIS movie, kind of. It is a realistic, in some sense, about a girl who has nothing going for her. She can hardly get to school on time, can't get good grades to save her life, and discovers the person she likes is already with someone else. Most people can relate. Yet once she saves the Prince of the "Cat Kingdom" she is forced to become his bride.
Thus she asks the Barron and company to assist her. And I will say no more for spoiler reasons.
FYI, Miyazaki himself approved this being made because the main character, Haru, had such a realistic feel to her; like he actually knew her.

14. Howl's Moving Castle

Again another "must see" of the Ghibli films. Charming, full of action and comedy; not to mention Madam Salimans' Magic Circle Music piece *shivers*
It is about a young girl cursed to become an old lady and stumbled on the notorious wizard Howl, who rumors says eats the hearts of women. I will say no more about this . . . watch it yourself!

15. Tales of Earth Sea

Based off a book, this is one of the latest and I can say highly enjoyable movies amongst them. Vibrant and interesting it is a movie with hidden meanings within hidden meanings! Another "not a children's movie" . . .

16. Ponyo

Yeah this is a children's movie, but again it is still charming.

All other movies after Ponyo I have yet to see . . .
