Flame Dragon
And stop thinking about the greedy companies. Yes, companies want a lot of money because a lot of money is good for them. But think of the little guys. There is a little graphic designer that makes enough to sustain himself and his family working for Nintendo. He did the graphics on Super Mario Galaxy 2 and he was proud of his work. But when thousands of people pirate the game, the company starts to lose money and has to start firing people because the company can't afford to pay so many employees. Yeah, corporate scum is really big in the modern-day world. But you act like every cent of profit goes to the guys who are already rich. It's an ignorant belief. It's funny, I was going to make the same argument. Companies have a lot of people working for them and when they stop making money people start to loss there jobs. Maghion Syaoran Light
They are still profiting despite all the pirating. There are people buying the stuff and supporting them so I don't care. Easy as that. I will still pirate
OnSlaUghT
Are roms for really old games still considered Pirating? I don't think so, but it depend on which system the ROMS are for, if its for GBA or some other system which is no longer supported by the company, or the company has closed down, then downloading ROMs will be the right thing to do since you probably won't find that game again. Dark
Are roms for really old games still considered Pirating? I don't really care what the official standpoint is, but I say that if you are pirating something to modify it (Super Mario World) or you are pirating something because you have no other way to access it (Mother 3), or if you are pirating something where buying it wouldn't profit the company all that much (really old games, or Virtual Console games but you don't have a Wii), it's morally alright. It may legally still be wrong, but pirates are rarely caught anyways. They are still profiting despite all the pirating. There are people buying the stuff and supporting them so I don't care. Easy as that. I will still pirate Your point? The point is that they should profit, but the more they profit the more those little guys get paid. The more the cycle flourishes; companies make a lot of games and consumers buy a lot of those games.

Dark
Well then they need to find other means of profit ...what the hell are you saying? What other means of profit is there? A company spends money to make a video game. People buy the video game and that generates revenue. Profit is revenue minus cost. There is no other way to profit from a video game, unless you make a clothes line and hats and make it globally widespread like Mario.
Maghion Syaoran Light
They'll find a way if needed. If not then its their fault for making them so damn expensive to the point where we just simply pirate it

Are roms for really old games still considered Pirating?Yes, but since you really can't obtain most of them legally anymore I really don't see anything wrong with it. Well then they need to find other means of profitOk, how so? If people aren't already buying what they're selling wouldn't that continue with whatever else they make. That logic is really horrible. They'll find a way if needed. If not then its their fault for making them so damn expensive to the point where we just simply pirate itI like how in your world 60 is a lot. Really, it's a decent amount but your making it out to be a giant price tag. It's not. And it's not like you can't get games for cheaper else. Wii games are 50, 3DS 40, DS 35. Steam has loads of games offered at sizable discounts right now. Hell, Valve made TF2 free. The more this goes on the more it seems like your going NO U because you don't want to stop prating. If not then its their fault for making them so damn expensive to the point where we just simply pirate it If something is too expensive and you can't afford it, don't buy it. Why would you steal something that you can't afford; how does that make any sense? If enough people think the game is too expensive and stop buying it, then the price is bound to go down. Supply and demand, kid.
Maghion Syaoran Light
Simply put. I dont give a crap. I want it, i will get it. I don't steal tangible goods but when it comes to software, music, video games, etc. then I will pirate it. I pay for minecraft because its cheap enough. Beautiful logic. I wish more people thought like you so bands and video game companies and software companies would all stop making money, subsequently stop making products, and the world economy would start to take a turn for the worse (as if it already hasn't). I done arguing with you. You don't value the work people put into software, you treat software as if it is worth nothing, and you behave like a spoiled child because you can't get what you want. If you want it so badly, you don't have to steal it, but you consider anything you can't touch as something that's not worth the effort. If everything was cheap, then the economy would crumble, workers will never get paid, and hard work would go down the drain, but who cares, 2000 unpaid workers who spent long hours away from their families, no real money being invested in games since it's no longer profitable, is totally worth it for some kid who couldn't wait to save his money to legally obtain something he and many others enjoy. Maghion Syaoran Light
In the end, you most likely are a pirate. And your right, I don't give two craps about the company and their profits. I don't consider myself a spoiled child just because I know how to get the things I want.

burnpsy
I find this funny. I wanted a 3DS and a bunch of games. What did I do? I got a job. It's not that hard. And now I got a whole load of games I've been meaning to get, and a 360. As far as I'm concerned people who pirate don't deserve to enjoy the fruits of someone else's labour. I have no faith in humanity anymore after the Humble Indie Bundle, and the large amount o pirates killing the manga industry with no intention to pick up official releases. Things like this really make me stop and think again - do I really want to start a game company when I get older? With people who have such a closed-minded mindset about what they feel entitled to, money that companies rightfully earned is lost.

TheComposer
Simply put. I dont give a crap. I want it, i will get it. I don't steal tangible goods but when it comes to software, music, video games, etc. then I will pirate it. I pay for minecraft because its cheap enough. But other than that, AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHYou're an idiot. Do you even understand why games are so damn expensive? BECAUSE PEOPLE PIRATE IT. That means less people actually buy the game, which means they have to make more profit per game, which means the price goes up. Do you know why the economy is s*** right now? Because of spoiled people like you. People put hard work into that game. Imagine if you come up with a great idea, tell it to someone, then they steal it for their own and make lots of money off it. You'll say it's wrong. Oh, but it's not a real object. Not like you put money into creating the idea. But you still lose all that money because it was taken from you. So when you steal the coding, that is basically what you're doing. "Oh the coding doesn't take too long to make." Bullcrap. Why do think it takes years for games to come out after they've been announced? "It's not like the coding takes a lot of money to make." So what. By taking the coding instead of buying, they lose a customer, and profit off of that coding. That means they must raise the price to keep even, AND fire people so the company doesn't go bankrupt. And THAT'S why so many people are homeless, you're just too retarded to see that. By stealing that code, you could have just cost a man his job, his house, and his life. If you can keep that on your conscience then you are just a terrible person. And because that one person is know jobless that makes our country look bad, as it increases the jobless rate. This means the government has to raise taxes to make sure they still get some money from the people who pirate, but they hurt the ones how pay legally as well. So by stealing that little piece of code, you have affected every single person in this country. THIS is why our country is going downhill fast, but you are too ignorant to see that. tl;dr(idiot) version: By simply pirating that piece of code you are costing people jobs and hurting everybody in this wonderful country. Oh, and this is also why you never see things made in America anymore. They all make and sell it elsewhere where greedy people don't pirate, and they make more profit.
