Trenched

Trenched is a mix of Tower Defense and 3rd Person Shooter game made by Double Fine. It's for the XBLA.

I recently bought the game, and dang man. For 1200 MSP, it was worth it. Much more then some CoD map pack, which would cost the same.

In this alternate universe, right after WWI (I suspect), a strange transmission is heard in a radio listening post. Everyone in that listening post is instantly killed because of that transmission, except for 2 men.

Those two men become super smart because of the transmission, known only as "The Broadcast". Having lost his leg in WWI, the first man, Woodruff, decides to use his new found knowledge to help other disabled veterans travel and see the world. So he creates large, mechanical legs. While the other person, Vlad, decides to create television, so that people can see the world from the comfort of their own home.

Eventually, coupled with the fact that Woodruff became famous because of his invention, and Vlad's was seen as a menace, his "Monovision" drove him insane. From there, he created "Tubes", which, if I would describe them, they are blue, red, or teal creatures that typically have four legs in various shapes and sizes, with TVs strapped to them. Except they don't look like they were lazily thrown together. These guys look freaky. And strangely awesome.

From here, Vlad began to to invade just about everywhere, spreading the Monovision menace as far as the eye can see. But, if you know anything about humanity, we won't just sit around and die. We decided to fight back. Woodruff formed the Mobile Trench Brigade, a fighting for made of WWI trenches, with giant, mechanical legs. As Woodruff says, the only way to die in a trench, is to get out of a trench. Armed with various weapons, the Mobile Trench Brigade begins their assault on the Monovisions. And this is where you come in.

Customize your trench! Leap into battle! And send Vlad packing!
