Sleepy
Here's a new Type of monster for Yugioh. Ascend Monsters: I tried to make this mechanic as open and versatile as possible without making them broken by definition. As a result, I got this colossal info list. Once you understand the concept the idea becomes pretty appealing and fun (IMO at least) -Ascend Monsters go in the Main Deck and are treated as regular Normal Monsters or Effect Monsters. They are colored in a light blue tone. -They have a second set of ATK/DEF called S-ATK/S-DEF (Special ATK and Special DEF) at the opposite (left) side of the regular ones. It is only in use if the card was Ascend Summoned and only stay in use while the card stays face-up on the field. -Ascend Monsters have 2 separate effects, "Regular effects" and "Ascend Effects" separated by a small (star) symbol. The first effects are for regular use. When the monster is Ascend Summoned, it gains the Ascend Effects. While the monster has its Ascend Effects, it cannot use its regular ones. -You can only control 1 Ascend Monster with the same name at a time. Not 2 or 3 copies but just 1. -Ascend Summon is a Special Summon. To Ascend Summon a monster, you must fulfill its Ascend Summoning conditions to Ascend Summon it from the Deck. Each monster has very unique and varied ways to be Ascended so, I'll explain it further down. -Ascend Monsters also have 2 sets of Stars. Regular Stars and Ascend Stars. This will hopefully be better explained like this: ☻☻☻☻☺☺☺☺ <The white ones represent Regular Stars and the black ones represent the Ascend Stars. In this case, the monster's Regular Level is 4 (only including the Regular Stars at the left). Then, when the monster is Ascend Summoned, its Ascend Level becomes those 4 Regular Stars plus the Ascend Stars at the right. In this case, the monster's Ascend Level is 8. ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺ <Sometimes, Ascend monsters won't have visible Ascend Stars. This simply means that the Regular Level and Ascend Level are the same. In this case, both are Level 8. ☺☺☺☺☺☻☻☻ <Sometimes (very rarely), the Ascend Stars will appear at the right. This means that the monster's Ascend Level is actually lower than its Regular Level. In this case, the Regular Level is 8, and the Ascend Level is 3. (So, both Ascend Level and Regular Level can be any Level from 1 to 12 in any combination) -After a card has been Ascend Summoned, If it leaves the field or is flipped face-down, it will be reverted to its regular version. -Now for the Summoning instructions. -Instructions always appear with 2 or more key words inside brakets [ ....] (I do this because it saves space, and most key words are either obvious or easy to remember). They will contain the following commands in this order: [Action Taken] [Portion Affected on the field] [Speed of Summon (not always appears)] [Relevance to Levels (not always appears)]. None of these actions or key words are considered "effects". Key Words for "actions taken" [Contact] Return the Ascend Summon Materials from the field to the Deck to Ascend Summon. [Send] Send the Ascend Summon Materials from the field to the Graveyard to Ascend Summon. [Tribute] Tribute the Ascend Summon Materials on the field to Ascend Summon. [Banish] Remove from play (or banish) the Ascend Summon Materials from the field to Ascend Summon. [Return] Return Ascend Summon Materials from the field to the owners' hands to Ascend Summon. [Destroy] Destroy the selected Ascend Summon Materials on the field to Ascend Summon. [Set] Flip selected face-up Ascend Summon Materials on the field to face-down Defense Position to Ascend Summon. [Flip (ATK)] or [Flip (DEF)] Flip selected face-down Ascend Summon Materials on the field to face-up Attack Position or face-up Defense Position (depending if the key word is (ATK) or (DEF) ) to Ascend Summon. [Change Position (ATK)] or [Change Position (DEF)] Change the battle positions of selected Ascend Summon Materials to the position dictated in the parenthesis. [Switch Control] Selected Ascend Summon Materials switch owner. [Overlaid] Stalk the selected Ascend Summon Materials underneath the Ascend Summoned monster. *NOTE: An Ascend Monster might contain more than 2 or more of these. When they do, you are free to select which and how many Materials do what actions to fulfill your Ascend Summon, as long as ALL the actions are made. Also, the same Material Monster CANNOT do 2 or more actions for the same Ascend Summon. Portion affected on the field: This only contains 3 key words that tell you if the Materials for the Ascend Summon are taken from your side, from your opponent's side, or from either side of the field. They are: [Owner] [Opponent] [Either Side] Speed of Summon: As said above, it will not always appear. If the Ascend Summon can be conducted during either players' turn, the key word [Quick] will appear. If not, then nothing will be there (most Ascend Monsters will most likely not have this, but its a possibility). Level Relevance: Tells you if you need to fulfill a conditions regarding Levels. [Fill-in Level] Just like with Ritual Monsters, on top of all other Summoning procedures for the Ascend Summon, the Materials must have a combined Level equal to or higher than the Ascend Monster's Ascend Level. [Exact Level] Just like with Synchro Monsters, on top of all other Summoning procedures for the Ascend Summon, the Materials must have a combined Level exactly equal to your Ascended Monster's Ascend Level. [Exceed Level] Just like with Xyz Monsters, on top of all other Summoning procedures for the Ascend Summon, the Level of each of the Materials must be equal to your Ascend Monster's Ascend Level. NOTE: If none of these 3 appear, it means that Level is not a relevant thing for your Ascend Summon. -After the key words for the Summoning instructions, the rest of the Ascend Summon requirements will be more normal-looking. Things like listing the number of Materials and their qualities. For Example: 1 WATER Sea Serpent-Type monster + 2 or more FIRE Dragon-Type Tuner monsters. and the such.... Finally: An example of the cards in written form ( haven't thought of the names yet). Sorry that I don't know how to do the (star) symbol, so I'll just be using the word in parenthesis to separate it. DARK [Dragon/Ascend Efect] Level ☻☻☻☻☻☻☺☺☺☺ ATK/1900 DEF/1400 S-ATK/2800 S-DEF/3400 [Set][Owner][Exact Level] 1 or more Dragon-Type monsters. By returning this face-up card to the Deck: Send 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. (star) Once while this card is face-up on the field: You can return 1 banished Dragon-Type monster to the Graveyard. ^Note how to this card is a Level 4 Dragon with 1900 ATK and 1400 DEF. In order to Ascend Summon it, this monster must be in your Deck and not anywhere else. Also, the Materials combined must equal Level 10 (in this case[Exact Level]), and those Materials must be flipped face-down ([Set] key word) from your side of the field ([Owner] key word) and all must be Dragons. Then, this card will be treated as a Level 10 Dragon with 2800 ATK and 3400 DEF. In this card's case, you just need to flip face-down your REDRUM to get this. I hope that I haven't over explained things and that this will suffice. I mainly want opinions on the concept, but feel free to comment on whatever (if you are still reading by this point) =D Link to comment

EndlessOcean
Hammer Dragon EARTH [Dragon/Ascend/Effect] Level ☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☺☺☺ ATK/1400 DEF/1200 S-ATK/3200 S-DEF/2700 [Set][Either Side][Fill-in Level] 2 or more monsters. Once per turn, you can tribute 1 Dragon-Type monster to draw 1 card. (star) You can tribute 1 Dragon-Type monster to destroy 1 face-down monster your opponent controls. So, you can normal summon this card as a level 3, right? Link to comment

Doom Chaos
This looks very nice and a fun thing to use. Windstorm Beast WIND [Beast/Ascend/Effect] Level ☻☻☻☻☺☺☺ ATK/1700 DEF/1400 S-ATK/2600 S-DEF/2000 [Owner] [Destroy] [Exact Level] Once per turn, return 1 card on the field to it's owner's hand. ☆ Once per turn, you can banish 1 monster you control. Until the end of this turn, this monster gains ATK equal to the ATK of the returned monster. This effect can be activated during either turn. Link to comment

This type of Summon Mechanic allows many different options for the way you want your monsters to come to play, but have the card's balance in mind ^^; I think your card is broken. [Fill-in Level] is like Ritual Monsters fill-in their Levels. So, that means you are allowed to surpass that Level (in materials) as long as it at least reaches it. Then [Opponent] means you are using your opponent's monsters for the Summon. Basically destroying all of your opponent's monsters for a 2600 ATK monster that can get more ATK by its own effect, during either player's turn. Keep in consideration that [Destroy] in there cannot be negated by cards like Stardust Dragon or actually anything, because its not an effect. Although even without its Ascend form, your card is a Level 3 monster with 1700 ATK that can return anything to the hand once per turn O_o ... and its a WIND for Mist Valley Divine Wind Field Spell Card. Lastly, the word banish means remove from play. I think you mean "return to the hand". Anyways, I don't want to get too overly serious >.<" Link to comment
