Will this only apply to america? Because I'm in the UK. Why should we throw people in prison for posting Deck Profiles, card reviews etc. Makes me want to go walk up to them and FALCON PUNCH them for bring so fucking stupid

Of course it's US only. That also makes the law that much stupider since they really won't be able to do much damage at all to the illegal action that is being done.

Also, I was recently thinking about this. For those of you that have heard of The Speed Gamers, the stream themselves playing games to raise money for charities. I'd laugh so hard is the gov tried to bring them to court since they are a CHARITY group and doing so would only serve to make yourselves out to be a bunch of jack asses.

A stupid bill that will bring YouTubers to their knees. The horror.

All because of people uploading videos of TV Shows and feature length movies to the internet. Currently, that is advised against, buit legal. Now this stupid law is gonna screw it all up.

Thing is, I can understand where the goverment is coming from. When people upload movies to the web, people watch on the net rather than the TV. Missing all the ads. All the companies that aid for ads will lose money and implode on themselves. This law is basically to protect those companies, I suppose.

What really gets my goat is that they are making the taping of video games illegal. This is stupid. Especially in the case of computer games.

You know Minecarft, right? If this bill was around when Minecraft was released, then no-one would know about it. The only reason Minecraft is still popular is because a few YouTubers took to taping themselves playing Minecraft, doing tutorials and such. If they hadn't done this, Notch would be a lot less rich than he is. A LOT.

It sucks. I have a few YouTube channels that will lose all meaning because of this law. ;-; I'm sad now.

Google owns youtube and if the bill is going to hurt them they will fight it.

Also, speaking of youtube, I REALLY want to know how the government is going to handle the fact that the internet is a GLOBAL medium. They can't do a damn thing about it if the people are in Canada or the UK for example and I don't think they can't do a damn thing if Americans get there Canadian or British friends to upload the videos for them.

Really, posting full length videos of movies and TV show (most anyway) hurts the companies and logically that should already be illegal. So ban that, don't lump everything together. I mean if I post a video of me mouthing the words to a song under this law that's illegal, but why the hell does it matter if the song is already officially online anyway.

Honestly, the more I think about it the more the bill doesn't just seem stupid, but almost impossible to enforce and impractical.

So, they want people to suffer by shutting down a charity? How cruel.
what makes it stupid, is that Youtube is a .com site, and iirc Google is an American company, so if the bill passes, then they'd have to ban Youtube for non-american countries
That'd be discrimination. In other words, they're stabbing themselves in the back by being retards

I can see it now, they arrest the speed gamers for streaming copyrighted content... then the orphans or whoever the speed gamers help suffer

Also, Notch says if this bill passes, he'll put a spot in the MC user agreement that says he gives anyone permission to use it in gaming videos, and expect other companies to do the same.

The problem with that is not everything on youtube is from person x. Companies and record labels also have youtube channels so you can't really ban it.

And I stand by my, "if it hurts there business Google will fight the bill" thought since again, these are the people that fought China.

THIS'LL NEVER PASS

If it did, I think there'd be so much dislike that they'd have to unrule it.

Or they could revise it so it's not so damn broad.

Uploading the music from the game should be the same as uploading the gameplay of that game because you can hear the music while you're watching the gameplay. I don't get why some soundtrack videos gets taken down.
The whole point of music is to listen to them. By uploading them, you give the whole experience. You can't deliver the whole experience when making a video of a game because the whole point of a video game is to play it, not watch it. Besides, video game music is often not heard in playthroughs because of commentators talking and sound effects.

Government made a very bad decision with this.....

Gov. Wants:

Control
Money

How

Deliberately taking control small steps at a time or fine people for it=money... and/or having People fear them b/c they will send you to Jail by illegally doing stuff like this Bill is proposed to halt will make a good amount of people be under their control.

Gov. Doesn't want:

Free Minded People
People Fighting for rights
People that care where there country is headed....

I'm sorry, but if this bill is passed, there will be no use of e-net b/c of this Bill that should have NEVER EVER BEEN CREATED.....

What is Streaming:

Noun:

1. A method of relaying data (esp. video and audio material) over a computer network as a steady continuous stream, allowing playback to proceed while subsequent data is being received

Adj.

2. (of data) Transmitted in a continuous stream while earlier parts are being used

So, basically the page I'm reviewing now and the others b/c I'm streaming it, or continuously seeing this page......Wow, this is one bad law....

I live in Poland. I upload a game video. America now sues me? So many loopholes in that bill, however, it doesn't change the fact that it's the most retarded concept ever :/
