Meta, we need to talk

Konami always breaks our meta leading up to our Nats - this is done to tempt good players into using the dirty power they hand out for free. When they become dependent on the cheap power card and smash their way to worlds - it's promptly yanked away from them and our format is brought back to sane levels in Sept. They've been doing this for several years now. Refresh my memory ... how many world titles does the US hold?

The US TCG spends more money on Yugioh possibly than any other economy on the planet and we're blatantly and openly treated with bias. Pot of Duality from a super to a secret. Special releases for exclusively OCG markets (I'm a hero duelist and very butt hurt about no Great Tornado yet)

and the TCG exclusives we get really seem to do more harm than good for our game. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I'm ready for Nintendo to take over. Maybe they can do a better job.

But in reference to our current metagame. I side with Pika. I have not looked at the decklists but I'm wondering if the scrap decks and the other decks psy listed main decked a set of tengu also. This topic's author said something I thought was exactly on target - you can dark hole a field nowadays and it bounces right back next turn.

The reason is because konami wants it to be an OTK bloodbath. Why? It encourages new players to enroll into Yugioh. If ANYONE can win at ANYTIME then that is very appealing to Jake K. NoobenHeimer. If I can buy 3 copies of the current structure and win a local or better then it's very attractive to new/returning players.

I think the only real solution is to play the game and find your own personal enjoyment out of it. Screw konami and their money chase cards - just get what you enjoy and have fun playing the game. We're not going to change the money hungry metagame or Eugene Krabs Konami anytime soon. If the power creep truly has broken the game to the point of a die role then be comforted by the fact that it's been that way before and probably will be again. Things will slow down a little after September.

Their focus is not on balancing the game - it's on keeping it just functional enough so that people will spend money to play it. ;)

Great account good sir. Right now, I'm drifting between MTG and Yugioh, MTG is quite a cheap card game anyways, atleast compared to Yugioh, and I like both, so...

And to the guy that said they do, Plants don't lose to Jurracs, I have no idea what you're smoking.

Also play Pokemon TCG if you don't wanna play YGO, it's really fun. :o

It seems ridiculously fast, and we're only on the first generation of cards...

Pre-Tengu we had a diverse meta. Now it seems to have narrowed a great deal.

Lol

Plants get Jurassically SMASHED by Jurracs. Guaiba makes the advantage Plants gain into his advantage and Reborn Tengu cries when facing Velo. Jurracs love using Royal Oppression, Gozen and Rivalry which bends plants over a table, cuff them to the table and proceed to violate them. In this context, Jurracs naturally have an excellent match-up against any Plant variants.

wat

apparently if you can stop Tengu you can shut down Plant Synchro.

ok

Tengu crashes with everything except Velo and gets away with it.
You're forgetting that Plants are a much faster deck then compared to Jurracs and can swarm over the board before they have the chance to do anything.

Also Ryko.

So you assume that Ryko makes Jurracs cry? Guaiba's effect activates even when destroyed. Only if you have no other cards on field does Velo attack a f/d. Plants suck in battle against Jurracs and Jurracs have many different battle tricks that makes Plants cry. Even if Plants are faster, that doesn't excuse the fact that they have a bad match-up against Jurracs.

It doesn't, lol.

If "Flamvell Firedog" is not face-up on the field when the destroyed monster is sent to the Graveyard, then the effect of "Flamvell Firedog" does not activate. Thus, the effect will not activate if "Flamvell Firedog" battles with a monster with equal ATK and both are destroyed by battle, so you cannot Special Summon a FIRE monster with 200 or less DEF.[2]

Caius, Gorz, Effect Veiler, Debris Dragon, Synchro Monsters, etc. and plants pick off your field before they attack usually, or they're just in a good position anyway.

also if you're so confident duel me with your jurracs over DN lol

Guaiba doesn't to be on the field to use his effect. That is what makes him better than Shura/Firedog. Your argument is invalid.

I would love to duel against you. DN name?
