Genesis TCG [Seventh Set]

I always wanted to create my own TCG and this one is developed when I was still a kid.

There are four kinds of cards:

Heroes:
All Heroes have Life that are represented by Heart Symbols on the upper right of the card. They also have 3 Stats which determine the result of a contest: Strength, Wisdom and Speed. Also, all of them have Crest Counters that are usually the same kind as their Race, they are used for effect activations or costs. You can only activate and apply the effects of Active Heroes and not those of the Passive Heroes unless specifically written on the card. You can only have 1 Exalted Hero of a Race in one faction. They are divided into 5 Races:

*Nether Lands
*Nether Spirits and Netherdrakes are vicious underworld beasts that drain Stats and deplete Life Force. Elements commonly attributed to them are Darkness, Poison and Fire. Most of their Abilities come from corrupting/weakening the opponents or by killing themselves off to defeat their enemies. They are colored Black.

*Cyberworld
*Cybermasters and Cyberlords are manipulative and wise. They can control your moves and cancel out Spells. Elements commonly attributed to them are Water and Machinery. Their Abilities are made to counter your opponent’s moves and diversify your options in a Battle. They are colored Blue.

*Forests
*Forest Sculptors and Forest Giants are kind of different. Sculptors have stealth and can revive fallen Heroes. Giants on the other hand are large and have high vitality, making them too hard to kill. Elements commonly attributed to them are Earth and Plants. Constant revival becomes a running trend with Forest Heroes and also, they have diverse effects that are varied renditions of other Races. They are colored Green.

*Sky City
*Sky Walkers and Skylords are dragonic beings of the sky who can change forms and stats. They also have great field presence. Elements commonly attributed to them are Wind and Weather. Crest Counter manipulation seem to favor them and so does Contests for they can easily manage stats. They are colored white.

*Other World
*Worldly Beings and Worldly Monsters are not really from our own dimension. Some of them were banished, while some are the guardians of the balance in and out of the Astral Planes. Currently, they possess damage manipulation, future sight and even instant victory. Elements attributed to them are Supernatural and dimensional. They are colored gray.

Spells
Most Spells have costs which are to be paid by Crest Counters. They can only be played during the Pre-Contest Stage. You can only activate a Spell with the Same Race as your Active Hero. (ex. Nether Lands Spells = Nether Spirits/Netherdrakes) After activation return them to the bottom of your Spell Deck. There is a max of 4 cards in your hand so you need to return cards to the bottom of your Deck until you have 4 left if you have 5 or more cards during the End Stage. You can only pay Crest Counters on Active Heroes, not Passive Ones. Discarded Spells don’t return to the bottom of your Spell Deck and remain in the Discard Pile.

Arena Spells are quite different as they serve as the battle arenas and remain face-up until they are removed by an effect or when a new Arena is activated. A Turn Player can only play 1 Arena Spell per turn. When a new Arena Spell is Activated, return the previous one to the bottom of the Spell Deck of its owner.

Equipment
They are equipped before the Spell Decks and Event Decks are shuffled. They usually have restrictions on whom to equip onto and they usually increase stats.

Equipment with Living Matter become Heroes when the Hero they're equipped to is defeated. They then occupy the space left by the Hero; that means they count toward the 5-Hero space limit and because they are also Heroes, you can only have 1 copy of a Living Matter Equipment per Battle.

Events
Kind of like Traps except you activate them from your Event Pile when a specific Event Condition on the card happens. You can only activate an Event with the Same Race as your Active Hero. (ex. Nether Lands Events = Nether Spirits/Netherdrakes) One specific Event can only be used once per Duel so you can only have one copy of an Event in a Battle. You can activate them at any time during Duel but only if the Conditions are met.

Decks:
Faction - Your group of Heroes. Not really a Deck but both players should have exactly 1/3/5 Heroes to play. Only 1 copy of a specific Hero is allowed. You can only have 1 Exalted Hero of a Race in one faction
Spell Deck - Deck of Spells should have a minimum of 25 cards with only up to 2 copies of a card.
Event Pile - Exactly 10 cards in which you can always see them and are not drawn.

How to Start a Game

[Preparation Stage]

Both players choose 1 Hero from your Heroes to be your Active Hero by placing it face-up on the board while placing the others on the horizontal space behind it. The non-Active Heroes are placed side by side and form a horizontal line behind the Active Hero .

Place Spell Deck beside your Active Hero .

Place your Event Pile beside your Spell Deck.

[Equipment Phase]

Equip Equipment Cards to your Heroes. Only 1 piece of equipment per Hero. (Unless stated in the card)

[Game Begins]

Both players draw 4 cards from their Spell Decks. Determine who goes first.

[Draw Stage]

Draw 1 card from your Spell Deck.

[Pre-Contest Stage]

Both players activate Spells or Hero Abilities during this stage.

Breakdown of Pre-Contest Stage Priority:

1. Turn player is the first to activate a Spell/Hero Ability.
1a. Opponent can Cancel that spell if he/she has a Hero/Spell/Event that can Cancel it.
1b. Turn Player can also Cancel that Hero/Spell/Event with his/her own cards.
*This goes on until a Hero/Spell/Event is Cancelled.

2. Opponent activates his/her Spell/Hero Ability after the resolution of the first.
2a. Turn Player can Cancel that spell if he/she has a Hero/Spell/Event that can Cancel it.
2b. Opponent can also Cancel that Hero/Spell/Event with his/her own cards.
*This goes on until a Hero/Spell/Event is Cancelled.

3 and 4 onwards are the same with 1 and 2. Just follow the same pattern.

A Player can also skip on playing a spell, if so, the other player can keep on activating Spells consecutively until the other player decides to play his/her own.


[Contest Stage]

Turn player selects 1 Stat (Strength, Wisdom or Speed). The Hero with the higher selected stat wins the contest. The loser takes Health Damage equal to the Difference of the winner's Stat to the stat of the loser.

[Post-Contest Stage]

Heroes with 0 Health are sent to the Discard Pile along with their Equipment.

If a player has no active Hero, he/she selects 1 Passive Hero and places it on the Active Hero Zone. If he/she cannot, he/she loses.

[End Stage]

Activate any effect that would activate in this stage. A player with 5 or more cards in their hand during this stage must return cards to the bottom of the Deck until they have 4 cards.

X-X Alliance: Those of the mentioned Races can use the Spells of either Race and pay their own Crest Counters instead of the written Crest Counter cost if the cost is a Crest Counter cost. (Number of Crest Counters to be paid remain the same.)

Cancel - The Target Spell/Effect is negated. The one who played the Spell/Effect still pays the cost. Send the Spell to the bottom of the Spell Deck.

Convert X to X - Exchanges the values of your Stats.

Drain X - Drains the particular stat or Health from the opposing Active Hero. Your opponent loses that amount of Stats/Health and your Active Hero gains the same amount. All Drain effects last until the Post-Contest Stage where the Stats drained go back to the original owner.

Detach - Place the Equipment Card to the Discard Pile.

Feedback - Each time the Hero with Feedback is Targeted by an effect of a card your opponent owns, the same effect is applied to the opposing Active Hero.

Living Matter (Race/Crest Counters: X/X❤/Strength: X/Wisdom: X/Speed: X): An Equipment card with Living Matter becomes a Hero Card and takes the defeated Hero's spot on the field when the Hero it's equipped to is defeated. Its Stats are the ones listed after "Living Matter" and it can then use or apply its Living Matter Ability once it is a Hero Card.

Mind Control - You select the Stat Contest during your opponent's turn.

Mind Block - Your opponent cannot activate Spells, Hero Abilities, Event Cards and Equipment Abilities during the turn your opponent’s turn when this is activated/opponent’s next turn.

Mixed Faction - a Faction containing 2 or more Races

Purge all Negative effects - Remove an attached effect like "-2 Speed", "is defeated when a Spell is Activated", etc.

Purge all Negative/Positive Stat-Related effects - Self explanatory.

Purge all Positive effects - Removes an attached effect like "do not take Health damage from losing a contest", "+2 to all stats", etc.

Purge all Stat-Related effects - Removes only stat-related effects like "+1 Speed", "-2 Strength", etc.

Revive - Return 1 defeated Hero to the field. Base Crest Counters are also returned.

Seeker Sight - Discard the top card of your Spell Deck, then you can activate that Spell's Ability, without paying the cost, at any time during the Pre-Contest Stage / Post-Contest Stage of the turn Seeker Sight is activated.

Stealth X - Your opponent cannot select the selected Stat Contest during his/her next turn.

Slaughter X - Opposing Active Hero takes X damage when the Hero with Slaughter is sent to the discard pile during his/her next turn.

Note that my TCG was posted here before everyone elses, but I don't mind. Don't believe me? Go look at the post date of my TCG thread(Realm Of Beasts) and then look at the post dates of all the others. It seems to be pretty popular, and most people who commented on my tcg was mostly saying that they wanted to create a TCG to. Though really, written cards IS the best place.

I'm impressed. It takes the best from the Pokemon TCG and throws some Duel Masters, MtG and YGO in the mix. I like the large amount of customization you can give to your decks - Equipments and Spells can totally change the way a deck is "supposed" to play out. Event cards are also an interesting spin. Can your opponent see your Event cards? Also, equipment cards. You choose 1 at the start of the game and equip it to each of your Heroes, right? And you cannot play any new ones during the game, card effects aside? So basically once you put down your starting formation (5 heroes equipped with 1 equipment each), it remains unchangeable by game mechanics? I found that to be my main point of concern - I think it would be interesting if you were able to customize that setup depending on your opponent's moves.

I've read through most of the cards and they seem quite interesting - they usually have nice flavor and are easy to envision, which is a big deal when you don't have accompanying images. I found some of the lengthier, or more generic names a bit tedious, though.

Thank you very much for the constructive comment. I've edited the names of the cards so that there won't be Generic Names unless necessary. I'm planning the Equipment during the Battle mechanic for the future, thanks for that suggestion.
