Support

Though it probably doesn't need/won't get the "locking your own threads" perk and if the donation is small then it would be temporary (lasting a month or so after the donation had been made). On that note, since he does/should have a fee to keep this site up, there should be two ranks of Donator, one for the smaller amount and one for the larger amount. The larger amount donator should be the one to either get more reps/points per post or to have further increased reps/points in comparison to the smaller donation. Another suggestion is that Donators should also be able to change the color of how their name appears in the forums.

You guys are so quick to give up your money.

On sites that I know *cough*, I have people slitting my throat to bleed me of all the benefits possible for $15 a month, $30 for three.

I'm surprised anyone would go for this. Status is everything to the youngins I suppose.

not sure if it's worth it, if you have to pay for anything on this sight, that will detour new members, although less newbs would be nice, all of our most legendary members were newbs at some point. no support

Adding new things will not take away anything that can be done now. New members would have the same things that everyone else did when they began. I have yet to see a forum that new members don't join because there is a system like this. How, might I ask, will such a system detour new members?

This sounds more like a personal problem than an argument. =/

I agree, status is important to younger people....you do know the average age of the members, right?

I entirely understand, I just "suggest" you all be a little more careful with your money. My point is there are far better things to spend it on than larger avatars.

Like trading cards and video games.

Some may find a small donation acceptable, if it would benefit there YCM experience. As in, more skins, giveaways, awards, ect. It's not like anyone would donate more than $20. I myself probably wouldn't go pass $10, but as the saying goes...every little bit helps.

Donating money might not get Will to pay attention to the site more. You're better off calling him(we have his number) So the donation isn't really needed to get him to pay attention. Also, what parent would pay ten dollars for something like this? Sure it can be considered a charity in a way but still. Parents can be uneasy about sending money like this, you know? If you find another way of getting into the VIP then I will support. My only suggestion with another donation method would be 6 starred active members willing to be temporary mods if one wishes to take a break.

...this would never happen. YCMaker's already proven that he can handle the forum hosting on his own, so although donations would surely be appreciated, it'd never get to the point where we'd need to offer incentives to do so. Plus, some of the 'perks' you mention would only foster a clique-ish environment, as well as give mod-specific powers out like candy (such as locking your own threads - there's a reason regular members can't). There also is the overall problem of who can actually give money and the massive amount of forum reconfiguration, so I hopefully am speaking for the whole staff team when I say no.

I never said there was a problem with hosting the forum. I just figured that this system would allow for better things, overall, for the site. My motivation has seriously declined for this suggestion though. :/

Oh, by the way...

Everyone keeps looking at this from the view of the perks, when it fact this suggestion is to install a donation system which would get used. The perks are strictly up to YCMaker and the Mods, these are just my brainstorming. So everyone should stop shutting the idea down because the perks are dumb, that's not the point. Getting a donation system would allow for further improvement and growth. For example, wouldn't you like to see more skin choices? How about that time when YCMaker gave away those booster packs? These types of things could be more frequent if we pitched in.

I only have one problem with this. I get the feeling that VIP's will start looking down on people who aren't. It could possibly split the forum. Not saying that it definitely will, but since that possibility is there, I'm going to have to say no support.

I must say, but not even this sick, twisted place of nightmare fodder is THAT corrupt to go and say "o hy i gv mony 2 teh gi ho ons teh syt IM SUPR AWSM GYS LOL UR N00BZ LAWL." Even if it is YCM we're talking about here, most people are going to have the common sense (Who knew?) to not mock the people who don't have the cash to donate. And it's the same thing as Reps and Points here, completely useless but good at showing someone you approve of what they did.

I give this full support, however, the above "Not having any cash" example applies to me at the moment. And the listed examples of what the VIPs would get is just an example, nobody said that larger avatar sizes would be the prime reason to donate, and the YCMail address would just be pointless.

But as long as there is a chance that it could happen, I wouldn't want this to ruin YCM.

Well, we are losing many older, more talented members lately... If this lures people in, or convinces them to stay, then that is one thing that will come out of it.

I read earlier that LZ said: There have been complaints about YCM not being a Democracy, that not everyone is equal. This might create more competition, more flame wars, more trollers, and more braggers... It is a creative idea, but I just don't know if it will help or hinder YCM!
