It's not gonna happen.
It's so obvious that only Naruto and Sasuke will fight each other alone and that Naruto will win, or that they will kill each other (more likely the former though).
It is so obvious, that it has become expected. It's a truth that everyone, those who anticipate it and those who don't, have come to accept.
To throw in a twist like that would result in an outrage.
Chaos.
Hate mail.
People dropping the manga right then and there.
You may WANT Itachi to team with Naruto to fight Sasuke.
But that is so not gonna happen.
And frankly, considering they both fought alone in their last fight and with Sasuke taking the win, I only find it fair the same circumstances are set up for the rematch and that Naruto should take the win he deserves.
That is my opinion and heartfelt belief that will definitely happen.

Naruto and Sasuke are the two most popular characters known to Kishi, as indicated by the last popularity poll. Shippuden is all about their rivalry, the progress that the two of them have made.
Naruto has always been trying to prove himself to Sasuke and to bring him back home.
Having him team with someone would completely deny his chance of proving that to Sasuke. Any other chances of Sasuke acknowledging Naruto or achieving redemption would be shot.
Naruto has stated himself several times that Sasuke is his responsibility. He wouldn't let anyone else have to deal with Sasuke as a burden.
He wouldn't LET Itachi help him.
Shippuden has also set up the question regarding Sasuke's fate. Sasuke's character, as it is now, is a tragic figure who's been consumed by evil due to manipulation and misguidance. The entire plot of Shippuden was set to try to make Sasuke achieve redemption. At this point, Kishi has pushed Sasuke as far as he can into the depths of evil that he is now COMPLETELY evil, not just working for his own ideals like he was when he started Hebi/Taka.
I'm not sure whether Sasuke will die or not, but it's clear that Kishi wants to symbolize the true strength of bonds through Naruto and Sasuke.
That's the main theme behind Naruto if you think about it, bonds.
Saving Sasuke from the point of no return serves as an ultimate demonstration attesting the everlasting strength and life that a bond of friendship can sustain.
The other factor behind Naruto as a whole is faith. People have put their faith in Naruto, believing he will carry on their will and pave a path for a desirable future.
I believe Kishi wants to use Naruto to show his readers that keeping your faith is just as important as treasuring the bonds you carry. There are times when it's okay to trust in others and have faith in them.
Sakura and Kakashi have faith in Naruto that he will save Sasuke.
ITACHI placed his faith in Naruto that he will save Sasuke.

NARUTO will save Sasuke.
He'll live up to the faith everyone placed in him.
He'll prove that his bonds are everlasting and help his closest friend come from the depths of Hell and see the light.
And personally, I wouldn't have it any other way.


Besides, even if you ignore my symbolic logic and whatnot, name ONE Shonen manga where the main character teamed with someone to defeat their main rival.
