Fusion X. Denver
You know what I want the 5th YGO protagonist to be? A girl. And not just a girl, a girl with average skill with around the same number of wins and losses. That'd be interesting to see.

Mr.WHAM
I agree that his skill grew exponentially. He got incredibly creative far beyond what was expected of him

Fusion X. Denver
Yugi never sucked .-. At least, not in the manga. And I was thinking something like Joey for this girl protagonist. Take someone who's new to DM but loves the game and you've got a good character with believable progress like Joey.
But Season 1 Joey was a bigger Sue than Yugi O_o Hell, I think, throughout the series, Joey was a bigger Sue, he just got beat once per season (Maybe 2 times like Battle City), but he had THE biggest asspulls and THE cheapest cards
DL
Joey had the BIGGEST asspulls cuz he was considered a luck character xD And he lost plenty of times Just not dueing important times :

And his progress is much more obvious. He went from depending on Yugi against Mai to nearly defeating Marik in Battle City.
DL
Yeah, he DID improve And he's not just talk, either In the YGO movie, he proved he can win duels even when the only friend by his side is the loser, tristan :
Fusion X. Denver
Pyramid of Light sucked... But yeah, I'd say Joey is my favorite character out of all the series, followed by Jaden and then Yugi.

Fusion X. Denver
Yusei's too stoic, that was my biff with him. Jaden's best feature to me was his happy-go-lucky attitude, though I see how that annoys some people :T

If you ask me, a good main character goes through more defeats than victories. That way it's MUCH more worth seeing them win.
DL
I personally love Jaden <3 And apparently he gets a lot of character depth in Seasons 3 and 4, so I would like to watch GX fully one day Manga Jaden was also really cool tho Not quite as happy go lucky, but just as...cool, I suppose
Yeah, but you don't want too many, otherwise people will question the main character's worth even before it gets to that point. Manga Jaden is much more 3-dimensional which is why he comes off as cooler.
DL
The trick is to have the main character come off as a loser, but, through effort, willpower, and a bit of luck, be able to win Like Naruto And yeah, he's really 3-dimensional Plus, the manga's art is really a lot like the anime's But I feel it's a tad better at times

And GX was mostly made up of filler episodes, but that can't be helped when you're working with a school setting.
