Katarina was stood in Professor Legge's lab, chasing her Igglybuff around the room (purely on his call, not hers). It wasn't exactly how she pictured her first day to start, but this was the problem with owning Pokemon as troublesome as Basden; he was over-concerned with floating around and wrecking havoc, and Professor Legge - who was stood by a door - was under-concerned that any damage could be caused.

Katarina and Basden weren't the only members of the party; several other trainers were also gathered, and each had also just recieved their first Pokemon. The room they were in was the lab's only welcome room (the rest was hidden behind a white door with a keypad and a frosted glass window); the walls and tiled floor were a matching blue (the soft, lovely kind that wouldn't make one vomit uncontrollably), and the lights overhead made the colour seem even lighter. To the right wall, there was a large window seperated into three panels; to the left was a clock, hung adjacent to the middle panel. Lined around the walls were granite-coloured kitchen counters, most of which had various items placed atop; and in the center of the room was a silver round table, where the trainers' Pokemon had been waiting for them.

Basden was finally stopped when he drifted into the window a bit too hard. A slightly breathless Katarina firmly held him in her grasp, and as she did so, glanced out of the window; the lab was situated directly next to a rare patch of vegetation, which had been preserved on the request of Professor Legge, and was subsequently bordered to indicate that it was his. She had been meaning to ask him what the purpose of the land was - it was full of hedges and trees and uncut grass - but it had escaped her mind until now.

She turned to ask just as the white door swung shut; Professor Legge had gone back inside to the off-limit area, presumably to fetch something. She turned her attention to the other trainers, and glanced at what Pokemon they had.

Jake looked around the room, carefully. Altair, his new Swablu, did so as well, in a fashion that compared them to searchlights. Once the room was fully observed by both pair of eyes, Altair lightly perched on Jake's shoulder, as to which Jake was uninterested. He looked at the white, shiny door, and wanted to see inside. It was that sort of impulse he always got, he thought he had that under control. But the door was so shiny...

The room was symmetrical, as he had counted the tiles and lights, finding them all congruent and in even numbers. Altair enjoyed the room as well - it was very clean, which he liked a lot. Both of them weren't the playful kind, so that stood in place, opting not to sit down - he wanted someone else to make the move first. Jake was currently wearing a white t-shirt with blue jeans, in a somewhat formal matter. He was glad that he wasn't the oldest in the group, which he had thought he'd be. His hair was put back, he truly prepared for this day. The mix of trainers was interesting, he hoped he could be friends with them all.

He was captured by the Jigglypuff, which looked extremely playful, but then his attention was reverted to the girl chasing the pokemon, then to the Professor, who began to walk away. This could be an interesting day, he began to think.

Dr. Edmond Intrilligator was distracted from playing with his new Cyndaquil when something bounced off his head. He turned to see an Igglybuff floatingg in the direction that would be expected from the trajectory at which it (he did not know the gender) hit his head. "That's an unruly little balloon pokemon, isn't it Spoke?" "Da QUEELL." "Couldn't have said it better myself." Edmond then proceeded to tickle Spoke. He looked up and realized that one, The Igglybuff had been captured by it's trainer, and two, Professor Legge was outside collecting something. He reflected on the day, from seeing the add saying synthetic pokemon were available, to standing in line and striking up a conversation with Kate Marsh, in whom he found a kindred spirit. It's difficult to find intelligent people outside of his job. This was going to be a great vacation, now that he has a pokemon to train. "I wonder what Proffesor Legge is doing.", a statement directed towards no one in particular. Edmond was then struck with the uncanny feeling something would happen soon.

Juliet giggled impishly as he stared down the poor-tempered bird that was trying to eat his shoe.

"Hello there little birdie," he grinned at the Archen. He hadn't even noticed that he was suddenly minus one leather loafer, or have any idea when it might have been taken off, but the formerly extinct bird seemed uninclined to give it back any time soon. Elusive pecked at the leather for a little bit longer before losing interest and wandering off, her pink-coated familiar tagging along.

"Lovely plumage," Juliet said after a moment of undignified walking, face held down low. "Very fashionable yellows, and the reds aren't too shaby either."

Elusive stopped to peck at a side wall. Juliet stopped to watch with interest for a couple seconds before he remembered the rest of the people in the room with a sharp pang.

"Oh dear, I've totally forgotten myself. I haven't introduced myself yet!"

OoC: Um, zzuxon, did you just powerplay my character?

The bird watched her with a hard brown eye. It was covered in a lovely blue down fur, with white feathers adorning it's wings and around it's head. A red feather shot up from the Pokemon's forehead, and it began to quiver, either from excitement or fear, as the girl stretched out her hand. It first seemed wary, skirting around to avoid her pale fingers, before finally rushing forward and squawking happily as the hand began to pet it's head.

Fascinating.

Kate smiled as she inspected her new Pokemon. It was now cooing softly as she scratched underneath it's chin; the Rufflet she had chosen was, simply put, quite adorable. Gale, as she had named him, seemed perfect, the pet she had always wanted when she was younger.

She laughed slightly as he picked him up. At first, she had been indisposed to simply treat this Pokemon with a scientific detachment; now, upon actually meeting the Pokemon, she found herself feeling affection towards the Synthetic Pokemon.

Sweeping her braided ponytail over her shoulder, Kate tore her eyes away from Gale and inspected the other Pokemon and their Trainers; they seemed not quite as well-behaved as her Rufflet, most trying to escape their various Trainers, one Jigglypuff even running around the room, forcing her poor master to give chase. There was a sudden squawk from the bird in her arms, sounding oddly protective. Looking down, Kate saw Gale watching a second bird-like Pokemon, this one an Archen, who was pecking at a wall near them. She had begun to wonder whose it's masters was when she suddenly heard,

"Oh dear, I've totally forgotten myself. I haven't introduced myself yet!" The shout came form an outlandish-looking man in a pink coat, who seemed to be following the Archen around.

"Then, tell us your name," She muttered, both annoyed and amused by the man. Steeping forward with a smile, she engaged him in her best country voice.

"Howdy! My name is Kate Marsh. May I ask what is your name?"

Altair shook its white, cloud-like feathers, still clawed onto Jake's shoulder. It pained him a bit; the subsequent movement in the bird's golden feet caused its gleaming talons to scrape Jake's skin. A minor cut, but if it continued like this, the Swablu would cause some infection in the shoulder. He shuffled in his coat pocket, eventually producing a bit of bread from its bowels and feeding it to the curious bird. Altair, the name just came to him. Perhaps he was studying too much astronomy.

He thought for a while, his mind focused on nothing in particular. He already could feel a connection between him and the cute Swablu: they seemed to compliment each other. The Swablu felt the same, and trusted Jake almost instantly. He fluttered a bit again, and jumped on top of his head. The bird placed its twinkling wings in front of it, softly resting on Jake's brown hair. Altair then proceeded to lay his head on these soft wings, and warily watch the other active pokemon prance about.

Jake was a bit anti-social today. He didn't have the drive to say hello to the nice Trainers placed around the room. He was a bit tired of standing around, and began to saunter around the room.

Of course! We haven't introduced ourselves yet! Not that Katarina had time to introduce herself yet; Basden was trying to wriggle out of her grasp yet again, and she was having none of it. Honestly, why was she stuck with the really troublesome one?! Nobody else's was bouncing around the room (well, that Archen was a bit peckish, judging by the look of things), and Basden seemed more intent on having his way than bonding with his trainer. Katarina was suddenly wishing that Professor Legge would hurry up and give them their second Pokemon; as far as she was aware, each one had different traits, and the only common thing between each one was that they belonged to the same body.

Katarina wasn't one to openly be friendly first either; she prefered to "read" people from a neutral point of view, and thus she stayed silent in order to start her "observations". So far, Juliet was definately catching her eye.

The door swung open again, and Professor Legge emerged; for a man nearing eighty-five, he was still in good health, and he still looked about sixty. Following him was the famous Unfezant, the oldest Synthetic Pokemon alive. As far as Katarina was aware, it was nearing 50 years old. She wondered whether it could actually change into a Legendary; surely it should have a few tricks up its sleeve.

"Ah, I see we're all getting along nicely," he said, even though nobody had really spoke. "Well, before I let you leave this lab, I like to conduct a few tests with new trainers, just so I can measure your capabilities with your Pokemon. There's nothing to fear, they are very simple tasks; if you would all like to follow me out of here, and just make your way onto the field..."

He moved across the room with surprisingly fit agility, and he pushed the entrance open; Katarina kept grasping onto Basden as she began to leave, although she purposely lingered to see if she could start a conversation with anybody.

OOC: Yeah...sorry for the late reply :c

Daiki sat in the chair, watching everyone talk. However, he was strangely not talking, for he was in shock of what he got. He had got a Gligar. And he had named him Batto. Both Batto and him seemed to get along nicely. Batto was currently on his lap, looking around the lab, and stared mostly at "Basden".

"A Gligar...They're the Ground and Flying type. But they can't fly unless there's wind...Well, that doesn't bother me. This Pokemon is cool!" said Daiki, with a giant grin on his face. Suddenly, Batto jumped up, with his tounge out. Then, he jumped off Daiki's lap and into the air.

"Gli!" said Batto, with his wings floated out. He glided across the room with his tounge out, showing off to him. Suddenly, he smacked facefirst into the wall, right next to one of the windows.

"Batto!" he said, getting up, but Batto got his face off the wall. For a moment, he thought he may get angry or cry, but instead, Batto just started laughing. He got up and quickly got Batto and sat down. He was a curious one, that was for sure. Suddenly, the door swung open, and Professor Legge had entered. He had completely forgot the Professor's absence. And with him was an old Unfezant. He had heard that that Unfezant was the oldest Synthetic Pokemon that was currently alive. Then, he said for them to take a few tests, and to follow him to the field. Getting up, he held onto Batto as he walked forward, curious on what was ahead.

"My name's Juliet!" he squeaked back at the girl who had spoken to him, grinning broadly. Elusive, noticing the movement, twitched her eye to the side briefly and waddled over almost aimlessly. Juliet quickly scooped her up in his arms and smiled. "Hey, we have stuff to do now! So we can't just wait around while you pla- ouch."
He rubbed a bitten finger against his pants, the disgruntled Archen he carried now looking around for another morsel of food, and smiled again at the dark haired girl.

"Hello Kate! I can call you Kate, right, and not Marsh? I think I saw a Marsh around here. It might have been a swamp, but there were Marshlights and Marshmallow and it was March so I think it was a Marsh instead! Oh, except marshmallow doesn't taste like marshmallows, I've tried, it's too chewy and hard and hey, you have an accent, don't you? Do you come from very far away? I can do accents, but I live just a couple miles away and I'm an actor, so I can pretend I'm from farther away than I actually am- are there many marshes where you come from? I mean the ones with bugs and water and stuff, not your family. Oh, though I guess your family would have water- maybe bugs too, but I couldn't say, because I don't know them. Except for you, actually. Hey look, I think the others are going outside!"

Juliet poked his head around the corner, looking into the attached yard. "Hey trees! I like trees. But there aren't many left now. I wish I could read a book under a tree. I tried under a shrub once, but it wasn't the same. Also, I got a rash."
