.Rai
X-Sabers are probably making an appearance, but maybe not Ancient Gears. Simply because Chapter 2 already takes up the steampunk, mechanical archetype. They might appear with the Chapter 2 heroes but that's all.

.Rai
Chapter 3 Updates Monday 7th November: Written.
“So, Regulus, where are we going now?” The small pixie asked. Regulus, the pixie, and the rest of the group were progressing to where they needed to go next after the encounter with the mechanical king that lived in the dark void that they had gone through. “I’m not sure yet. I believe we need to go north, to Zeman’s residence in the winter months. I’m not on the best of terms with him so we must be careful.” “I remember the last time you went to see Zeman. You came back with bruises everywhere and you probably wouldn’t have been as lucky if Ancient Fairy Dragon had not protected you. You still haven’t told me what happened.” Regulus sighed, “I’ve told you before. It’s personal. Zeman and I go back a long way. Unfortunately, it’s not always been good times.” ~ ~ The group were now making their way towards Zeman’s castle, where they would hopefully find details on Ancient Fairy Dragon’s location. The polar bear stood firmly by Regulus’ side, while the pixie was perching on his head, taking a nap for a bit. The rest of the unicorns, carrying tons of supplies between them all, completed the group. Each unicorn was actually quite different from the next. Mostly, it was the different coloured manes they had. Because the manes seemed to be made out of flames, several also seemed to change colour. “Hey, darling? Where did Regulus say we’re going today?” A female unicorn started to snuggle up against another one, slightly taller and bulkier. They were presumably a couple. “To Zeman’s place, sweetie,” replied the other unicorn. At that, the female unicorn looked up, a little worried. “Zeman? Doesn’t Regulus have a bad history with him?” “It should be fine. Don’t worry, that’s my job,” he said, smiling calmly. The female unicorn didn’t smile back, but just sighed. “I’m starting to miss the times before the war started. It’s depressing.” The other sighed back, dramatically changing from his previous smile. “I know, darling. Let’s just hope it’ll all clear up soon enough. There’s no point being negative so let’s look on the bright side, eh?” She nodded back in agreement. Their conversation was interrupted by the sudden blowing of Regulus’ bodyguard’s horn. Regulus paused in front of the unicorn army before announcing, “We’re taking a little detour.” ~ ~ “Yo, Equeste. Can we go practice on those damn monkeys yet? I’m gettin’ impatient.” “Hey! Those ‘damn monkeys’ are right over here.” “Hey to you too! Shut up. Yeah, shut up.” A rather large rhino armoured in white plating stood in the middle of the colosseum by a cage with 2 apes in. His voice was rather rough, but not particularly intimidating. A centaur, who was presumably Equeste, turned round and came towards the cage. The colosseum itself was rather large. It was lit by the open-air ceiling and various strange crystal formations laid as lines in the rocky foundation of the stadium. Equeste replied to the rhino, “Hoplomus, you are so annoying at times. Your chance will come. We just have to wait for our other friends to come along so they can join in.” He then turned to the two apes in the cage. “It’s a shame we have to train against you. You two seemed like such nice pers-” “THEN DON’T TRAIN AGAINST US PLEASE!” One of the apes, dressed fairly bare and with a sturdy build, burst out, trying to get out of the cage. And failing quite miserably. The other ape, dressed somewhat like a stereotypical wizard, put his hand against his head, and shook it from side to side slowly. “-sonalities. Actually, strike that. You probably don’t. Maybe, you, the funny wizard one, but you don’t speak much anyway.” At that point, a humanoid hawk creature came running in. Equeste turned to see who it was before speaking. “Lanista, come to join our training with the apes?” “Well, yes. But first we have visitors,” Lanista replied. “Who is it?” “Regulus, Commander from the Ancient Forest. Oh, and an army of unicorns.” ~ ~ “Yo, so, Regulus, you here for a visit then?” Another avian creature, like Lanista, was blocking the entrance to the beasts’ arena. It was more of a green shade than Lanista, who had yellow-ish feathers. It also had crimson red feathers on its head and on its wings. “Yes, Bestiari. I’ve heard news that you are holding...some of Zeman’s troops?” Bestiari started walking in, unblocking the arena entrance, and Regulus followed. The rest of the unicorns were outside, waiting for trouble. The pixie was on Regulus’ head, although she had buried herself into his fur for some reason. Only her wings were visible upon his head. “So, yeah, we like captured some monkeys, if that’s what you mean. We’re gonna practice on them later.” Bestiari turned to Regulus after saying this and his eyes squinted a bit, focused onto a point on Regulus’ head. “Regulus dude, what’s the thing on your head?” “Oh, it’s just my dear pixie friend,” Regulus answered, then turned as far as he could to the wings perched upon his head, and said to her, “Why are you so scared?” “Wait! I’ve met yo’ fairy before. Heh, it’s the same one I saw a couple years back, dude,” Bestiari suddenly exclaimed, moving his head next to Regulus’ own. His eyes, a piercing red, focused on the desperately fluttering wings, before taking out his talons and carefully prizing them from the fur of Regulus’ head. Her head, then her body, and then her legs swiftly came out as Bestiari inspected them. There was a moment of silence, the pixie’s eyes fluttering rapidly in fear. Then Bestiari burst out into a fit of laughter, all the while carrying the pixie by its delicate wings. “P-p-put me d-d-down!” The pixie stuttered. “Or what? What, you’ll hurt me like last time?” Bestiari was nearly crying at something between him and the pixie. Regulus stood there, completely bewildered, before snapping to his senses. “Come now, Bestiari. Put her down. I don’t want to cause trouble.” “Fine, Regulus. Heh, she’s a funny kid, ain’t she?” “If you say so.” The pixie speedily flew back on Regulus’ head, clutching his horn tight as a wall between her and Bestiari. She nervously said, “Bestiari, you’re such a bully. L-l-last time I saw you, you were just making fun of me a lot. Then, you nearly drowned me in that l-l-lake. Don’t think I forgot it!” Bestiari was obviously trying to stifle back another chuckle. He took a breath and said, “Yo, really? You overreact so much, little fairy thing.” He turned his focus to Regulus again, “Kay, guys. You can come in in a bit, just need to get Equeste. He’s in charge of the place ‘till Alexander comes back, yeah?” Bestiari was about to turn, when Equeste came cantering up to the entrance. He looked outside, and noticed Regulus’ bodyguard and the unicorns all there. He looked back at Regulus and the pixie. “Good morning, Regulus. So, what brings you here? And with your ... unicorns too.” Bestiari sniggered after this, and Equeste gave a sharp look at him. The green bird muttered something, before sticking his head down. “I already said to Bestiari, but I heard you had some of Zeman’s troops here.” “Yes, we were going to train on them. Would you like to join us?” “Well, I’m going to have to talk to them first about something. Do you mind?” “Not at all. The thing you should be careful of is not me, but the rest of my acquaintances. Follow me to the arena, Regulus. You can leave your unicorns outside.” Equeste turned and trotted from the entrance corridor towards the arena. Regulus, the pixie, and Bestiari followed. ~ ~ “Regulus, you here for ‘dem monkeys? Gonna have to wait for a bit, man.” “ You’re not going to harm them, Hoplomus, are you?” “Umm, no. Anyway, I thought you were doin’ the Wanted Dead or Alive sort of thing?” Hoplomus asked with a nervous smile. “No, we just want to interrogate them. Is that alright?” “Yeah, Regulus.” At this point, a unicorn from outside trotted into the arena, accompanied by another beast. The unicorn whispered into Regulus’ ear about something, while Hoplomus looked at him distastefully. “Thank you, Hoplomus. I shall get my bodyguard, as he has some info apparently.” Regulus, the pixie and the unicorn walked out of the arena, and into the corridor. There was an eerie silence for a few moments. Then, a clink came from the cage. Equeste, Bestiari and Hoplomus, the only other ones in the arena at the moment, turned around and saw the monkey dressed as a strange wizard trying to pick the lock with some random spell. At least, what they thought so anyway, especially with the awkward sparks flying from the cage like crazy. Hoplomus ran to the cage, as did Equeste. Bestiari stood a safe distance away from the cage. “MONKEYS! What ‘da hell did ya’ do? If you were trying to escape, nice try!” Hoplomus laughed heartily. Equeste looked a little more solemn. He examined the abundant sparks flying from the cage, and his eyes widened deeply. The other monkey smiled wickedly, while the magician monkey rested in a corner of the cage after the spell. At this point, Hoplomus stopped laughing, and asked Equeste, “What, man? What the hell is happening?” Another brief silence, this time broken by the sound of paws running from the corridor. Regulus lunged from the darkness of the corridor and slid all the way to the cage. He was shortly followed by his polar bear bodyguard, and all of his unicorns. “Woah, dude,” Bestiari exclaimed. “What is the meaning of this, Regulus?” Equeste ordered. “I was going to warn you about Zeman’s troops. Some of them have the ability to ca-” “...Call Zeman himself to their location. Yes, I know,” Equeste sighed. “We have no choice but to wait till he comes, and take it out like that. “...Wait, he’s already been called?” Regulus took a quick look to the cage, and realised. He sighed too. Hoplomus was getting rather annoyed by now. “I am desperate to hit ‘dem monkeys!” He snorted in anger afterwards. “Don’t,” Regulus said, “if Zeman sees his troops are gone, he’ll raze the arena to the ground.” Equeste nodded in agreement, “Best thing to do is keep the troops and protect them. We can use them as ransom for Regulus’ needs.” “Thank you, Equeste.” “Ahem, excuse me.” The pixie who had been silent for the whole conversation suddenly perked up and started to say something. “Who are they?” She pointed to the back of the arena. Regulus noticed too, turning around. Stood there was a golden-armoured lion, with a whole legion of other beasts behind him. Fish-like creatures, more birds, and various others, all covered with some sort of armour. It was an impressive sight indeed. “Alexander. It’s good to have you back, and you’re sorely needed,” Equeste said. “Hmm, really?” He then looked at the cage. “I guess I should have told you about the calling magic.” Alexander began to take a few steps to the cage, but hesitated. He felt something. The pixie did too, as she started to cover her ears. In time, there was a visible shaking in the floor, and various of the beasts and unicorns started to fall over. The light suddenly drained away from the arena. It was completely pitch-black, but it wasn’t possible, as when you looked up, there was visible sunlight. But for some reason or another, it didn’t shine into the arena. There was a laugh. It got louder and louder. In the background, there was a shrieking ape-like noise. No, several ape-like noises. It seemed to the sound of many, many ape chuckling like mad. The light suddenly came back, and the entire group were surrounded by monkeys. In the seats on the rim of the stone arena sat Zeman. “Having fun, Regulus?” Zeman shouted from the seating. He was wearing a helmet of a black metal and gold. He had blazing red hair, and a red cape to match. Despite this ferocious image, he was acting rather calm sitting down. “Zeman. You were going to appear some time or another.” “He’s ‘dat guy who owns the monkeys? Come on, he looks ridiculous!” Bestiari was roaring in laughter until one of the monkeys surrounding them all slapped Bestiari in the face. Equeste calmly said to everyone, “Don’t agitate. And don’t joke around either. One should know that the natural personality of an ape is to get the last joke.” “Oh come on, guys. I’m not a bad guy, I just want my soldiers back,” Zeman said. Regulus growled and firmly replied, “Not till you give us the information where Ancient Fairy Dragon is.” Before Zeman could reply, Hoplomus, completely stuck on the thought of training against the monkeys, started to charge towards the cage. Several of Zeman’s troops tried to stop him, but Hoplomus just smashed them to the side. Zeman had his mouth open at this, but regained his composure and declared, “Attack, my troops!” The whole group had very little time to react at the sudden leap of the thousand monkeys towards them. Alexander shielded the rest of his group. Bestiari and Equeste were completely overwhelmed in a mountain of various shades of brown fur. Regulus and the unicorns were only just fighting them off. “My dear pixie,” Regulus paused to smash an incoming monkey with his horn, “Quick, go up to Hoplomus and see if you can stop him.” The pixie whimpered but complied. As she flew towards the cage where Hoplomus was, she saw the entire group of unicorns disappear in a flurry of apes. ~ ~ “Hoplomus, you h-h-have to stop this!” Hoplomus was smashing at the cage bars in vain. “What do y’ want, pixie? Go help the others, I gotta kill these crappy monkeys!” The pixie grumbled in frustration, gulped, and closed her eyes. She started to glow faintly, then a little stronger. Her wings glinted in the light, and Hoplomus paused to look at her. In the period of a few seconds, an ball of energy engulfed the pixie and was released nearly straight after at Hoplomus. It hit Hoplomus’ shoulder, and he staggered to the side, then roared as he stood straight again. “What are you doing, pixie?” He started to charge at the pixie, and she flew further upwards into the air. Hoplomus then leaped up, but narrowly missed her. “Arrgggh!” Hoplomus tried to charge at her again, leaping up, but missed once again. The pixie smiled and realised it was working. As long as Hoplomus was distracted from the cage, it was fine. ~ ~ By now, Alexander and Regulus had fought their way to each other, where their groups combined to one. Some of the unicorns had fought their way out of the pile, but most of them were still stuck under. “Regulus, what to do?” Alexander said. He ripped his way at a monkey, and it was flung across the arena. “We’ll have to make a charge, Alexander. Your gladiators are in horrible danger otherwise. You should take care of the apes, I shall take care of Zeman himself.” Alexander nodded, and then signaled to the rest of the gladiators. A flurry of beasts made their way outwards from the arena, sending Zeman’s troops flying everywhere. Zeman jumped from his seat in the arena’s stands, staring at the action happening below. He seemed to not notice the flying white lion pouncing towards him. ~ ~ Regulus flew into the stands and gripped Zeman under his paws. “Stop the fight, Zeman. We may not be on the best terms, but even I don’t want to dispose of you,” Regulus whispered. Zeman laughed. “Oh, Regulus, my friend. You want me to stop the fight? You haven’t even told me why you’re in this fight. I come to get my troops back, you’re here for no apparent reason, and then you come and rip your claws onto my throat.” He chuckled again, then said, “No, seriously, get off.” Regulus paused at Zeman’s rather awkward request. He laid his paws off Zeman, who dusted himself off while getting up off the floor of the colosseum seats. Below, the chaos was still ensuing, and no-one had bothered to look up to watch the two leaders fight. “So, Regulus? Why?” “I came here for your troops originally. Ask them for your location.” “Seems your wish came true. I’m here, aren’t I?” Zeman said, with a innocent smile plastered on his face. “It seems so. Now, to business. Where is Ancient Fairy Dragon?” “Wait? What?” Zeman burst on the floor laughing, “I literally have no clue what you’re on about, Regulus! Your leader? What does she have to do with us? Pfft.” “Rumours have circulated that you have information about her location. It was our only lead so I came to find you.” “Well, you’re misinformed. I hardly know anything. At all. Rumours? Pah, you believe rumours in this time of war? Foolish Regulus. Why would you?” “Well, if that’s the case, call off the battle. Why meaninglessly kill our troops in a useless fight?” “Ha! You don’t seem to know me well, Regulus. Has time gone fast for you? I enjoy it. You know I do. Unfortunately, I also enjoy other things.” He clicked his fingers, and a gang of apes appeared from the ceiling. Apparently, they had been there the whole time. Zeman sat down into another seat, Regulus now poised for combat against the apes. “Zeman...don’t do this.” “You know I will so don’t bother. Go, troops.” At the order, the apes pounced towards Regulus. He kicked off a few, flinging others with his horn away. However, a group of four or five leaped onto his back. One covered his eyes, then another leaped onto his tail. By now, some other apes had noticed the two leaders fighting and had gone up to overwhelm Regulus. He was now undistinguishable under a carpet of dark brown fur. He tried to breath, but failed, and all he saw while his eyes gradually closed was Zeman cackling away at the battle. A battle he was losing horribly. ~ ~ “U-umm, Hoplomus?” “WHAT, PIXIE? GET OUTTA MY FACE!” Hoplomus shouted. “I k-know you want those apes, but h-h-how about a bigger target?” The nervous pixie replied. “What bigger target? ‘Dem apes are the only thing that are worth it!” “But the leader of the apes is here, Hoplomus,” the pixie stated calmly as she could, hyperventilating in order not to mentally collapse or something. “Really? Well, I’m gonna get ma hands on him!” Hoplomus leaped up one more time to get the pixie, failed, then stopped on the floor. An ape flung itself at Hoplomus’ back, the large rhino simply chucking him back into the fray that lay round the colosseum. “So, pixie, where be this leader then? If he’s not real, you better be ready for real thumping, pixie!” “Umm, y-y-yeah, he’s up in the seating.” She pointed at the scrabble of monkeys laid up on some sort of animal, and Zeman sitting near them. It was quite hard to tell what was under the monkeys, especially with the monkeys going hyperactive on the thing. “Damn, he’s a right idiot, isn’t he? Look at his face!” Hoplomus looked almost normal for a second or two, if he hadn’t been snorting steam out of his nostrils as they flared in pure anger. “BY RA LEMME AT HIM.” Before the pixie could respond, he started charging towards the edge of the arena, pushing past unicorn, monkey or gladiators alike, before jumping with tremendous force into the arena seating. “Monkeys, get out of here!” He ripped off the monkeys surrounding the unknown body, revealing an unconscious Regulus. “It’s the lion guy? Pah, you bothered with him?” He threw Regulus back into the arena. Zeman looked at the rhino with interest after this quick, unexpected spectacle. “Oh, and you are?” “Hoplomus! And I’m here to beat you up.” Hoplomus cried a shout before charging at Zeman. Zeman also found this of great surprise as he didn’t react quick enough to dodge the full blown fist that slammed into his stomach. Blood splattered out of his mouth as he slammed towards the wall, already congealing in the hot, bloodthirsty air of the battling arena. “Best you could do, rhino?” Zeman staggered up, and clicked his fingers. Some monkeys form the arena clambered up into the seating before rushing towards Hoplomus. He fought them off with ease however, pretty much ignoring them as he walked to where Zeman was launched by the punch. "Not really, big ape." Hoplomus charged his fist into Zeman's stomach again. Zeman was pretty much immobile by now. He drunkenly shuffled into a wall, before panting and regaining his breath. He wiped his mouth of blood with his identically blood-coloured cape. Then, Zeman said, "Fine. I'll be going." "TROOPS! TAKE YOURSELVES FROM HERE. THESE CREATURES ARE NOT WORTH FIGHTING." Cries of anguish came from the monkeys, but they obeyed. Within seconds, a swarm of apes made their ways out of the arena in great furry lines, retreating with great efficiency. Some gladiators looked ready to stab passing monkeys, but the others held those individuals back. ~ ~ Strewn on the arena floor was Regulus. Half-dead, half-alive, he was in no good state anyway. The pixie came up to him to check his pulse. Heart was still beating. Good sign. Regulus' group was perhaps going to be stuck at the arena for several days, but even a few days were precious time considering the situation. Stranded with no leader. In the middle of a war.
