All images are mine. For explanations, hover over anything with a dotted underline. [u][b]Set-Up[/b][/u] 1. Both players must have a 50-65 card Deck. You can only have up to 4 copies of any card. 2. Both players draw 5 cards. 3. Then, both players take the top 5 cards of their Deck and place them on the Field as Screens. 4. A player declares Heads or tails and flips a coin. If they call correctly, they may choose whether to go first or second. If they call wrongly, the other player gets the choice. [b][u]How to Win[/u][/b] - Deck out your opponent. - Break all your opponent's Screens and attack them once more. - By alternate win conditions on certain cards. [u][b]The Stages of a Turn[/b][/u] [acronym=' (This is when all tapped cards on your Field are untapped.)'][b]0. Start Turn[/b][/acronym] [acronym=' (This is when you draw a card from the top of your Deck. It ends after you do.)'][b]1. Draw Stage[/b][/acronym] [acronym=' (This is skipped almost immediately but certain effects activate here.)'][b]2. Standby Stage[/b][/acronym] [acronym=' (This is when you place 1 card in your Cache.)'][b]3. Cache Stage[/b][/acronym] [acronym=' (This is when you can play Monsters and activate Spells.)'][b]4. Play Stage[/b][/acronym] [acronym=' (This is when you can attack your opponent.)'][b]5. Battle Stage[/b][/acronym] [acronym=' (Certain effects can activate here too.)'][b]6. End Stage[/b][/acronym] [acronym=' (This is when your turn passes over to your opponent.)'][b]7. End Turn[/b][/acronym] However, the first turn is slightly different. There are things you cannot do: - You cannot enter your Battle Stage during the very first turn. - You cannot play Hyper Spells during the very first turn. [b][u]Types of Card[/u][/b] [b]Monster:[/b] These are cards with a Power and a Defense. They can attack and sometimes have effects. There are also sub-types of monsters that are more complex. The most common are Evolution monsters. [b]Evolution Monster:[/b] These 'evolve' from other cards, which are placed under them. They act like normal monsters. [b]Standard Spell:[/b] These are Spells that can only be activated during your Play Stage. [b]Passive Spell:[/b] These Spells stay on the Field instead of going to the Discard Pile after activation. Their effects usually affect the whole Field or certain things. [b]Counter Spell:[/b] These are Spells that must be placed on the Field face-down for a turn until activation, but usually are to be used on your opponent's turn (but can be used on your Play Stage, if possible). [b]Hyper Spell:[/b] You can only activate 1 Hyper Spell per turn and can only be used during your Play Stage. [b][u]Tapping[/u][/b] Tapping means turning a card sideways. A tapped card cannot be tapped further than once. - Cards in your Cache are tapped when paying the cost of a card. - When a monster attacks, it is tapped afterwards. All your cards in on the Field and Cache are untapped on the start of your turn. [u][b]Attacking[/b][/u] - When a monster is played, it has Summoning Sickness. This means it cannot attack. Summoning Sickness is removed at the end of a turn. - You can only attack tapped monsters, unless stated on a card or your opponent has no tapped monsters. - You can only attack your opponent's monsters, unless stated on a card. - When you attack a monster, it will destroy the attacked monster if the attacked monster's Defense is lower than the attacking monster's Power. - If your Power was lower than the attacked monster's Defense, deduct your Power from their Defense (until the end of the Battle Stage). - You can also attack Screens, this is how you win (breaking all Screens then attacking the player once more). However, you cannot attack Screens if your opponent has no tapped monsters. - In this situation, you can attack untapped monsters.
