Playstation Vita (PSVita)

Noticed that there wasn't a dedicated Topic for this new piece of Sony Hardware.

Looked to be a all right piece of Kit and that price id delicious! (It will cost around £200 here in the UK but still very reasonable)

Uncharted looked great and there looks to be a few more surprises down the line.

I just want it because of the 2 analog sticks.

The 2 touch screens seem real gimmicky and pointless. Keeping things simple makes things better imo. I can live with it if most devs make the touch screen controls optional like in the Uncharted demo they showed.

Okay, they have the graphics, they have the price... now all they need are the games.
For me, that was the PSPs biggest problem: It lacked exclusives that are worth buying the system for. All you usually got were ports or spin-offs, no new IPs for the system that could really define it.

However, hopes are still on, and with a 250 $/€ it's definitely an open challenge to Nintendo's 3Ds. They must be pretty confident of their Vita, because from an economic point of view they can't make any plusses with the system itself, I just doubt that, though that wouldn't be exciting news, almost every console writes red numbers in the long term, the money is made with games, not hardware. Still, it makes me curious if the results match this time around...

Not that they have any option if they don't wanna leave the handheld market to Nintendo... go Sony, I know you can do it

The fact that it has wi-fi anywhere, rather than requiring a local uplink has me sold.
And this actually looks great. However, it's unlikely that I will play anything more than action/arcade and lobby based games on it. If I want something larger, I have my Ps3.

And people, keep the console fanchild behavior out of here *pointing to user above me*.

Eh, not quite. Since it's from anywhere, it's not exactly "wi-fi," it's 3G or whatever the hell they call it. There may also be a fee for using it. I hope not, but there may be.

Also, keep in mind that for internet anywhere you need the $300 version. That's what I read anyway.

Except that casual gamers (the market Nintendo has monopolized in) will be much more reluctant to buy Sony (that made one of the most hardcore gaming consoles of all time) and will probably stay safe with Nintendo. It's not that expensive at all, but 200.00 is a bit risky for people who just want to game every now and then.

I'm not going to buy it. Sony did a horrible job releasing games for the PSP, I only liked a few of them and video game retailers rarely have any good ones in stock. I will say that the handheld is amazing. Sony just can't multitask as well as Nintendo. They put a lot of money into advertising their consoles, and a lot of money into advertising PS3 games, but not enough in developing handheld games.

I'm sticking with the 3DS until I get proof that this thing's going to have more than 4 or 5 good games.

tl;dr: PSP doesn't have many games, neither will this
